Savage with male escort dog "teddy"
In the 24 hours since talker Micheal Savage won a legal battle to end his Savage Nation contract with Talk Radio Network, so it is he is really off the air--no live-no replays, Nada.
Sure enough, the KVI site is absent Savage (Weiner's) mug. This coming just weeks after KVI launched a comeback for the old KVI and conservative radio.
In ending the contract, all 375+ stations must also cease and desist from even playing best or Worst of Savage Nation. One of those to see the fallout is 570 KVI, which played his show (delayed) from 9-11p weeknights. An email to PD Paul Duckworth only brought this:
"We're working through that maze right now. Based on the court ruling, we won't have access to Savage replays. I should have more definitive word late Monday. Stay tuned."
Other stations are hopeful? We looked around and found KFLD in Pasco that has a link to the announcement on their page and a phone call hinted that he might be back but we wanted to know , who is filling in--tonight? The person possibly the janitor told us after walking down the hall and coming back with "Uh, probably Micheal Gallagher"
We also asked with the hope of finding out how practical it is for a national host to negotiate his own contract station by station or if he's even welcome back after the shit storm he caused with short notice. "Uh, we hope he comes back"
Stay tuned...
Update: we here at BW Newswatch managed to finagle a last minute phone call to KVI Gal who told us Fisher still doesnt know who will be in that time slot tonght but that Talk Radio Network assures them it will be "someone".
TalkRadioNetworks CEO Mark Masters issued a statement in response, “We are all looking forward to announcing a bright future; radio’s October Surprise will begin on Monday, October 1st.” Savage’s attorney, Daniel Horowitz, tells the AP that Savage has been fighting the network for two years to get out of a contract that was 10 years old and prevented him from switching employers. Savage won the favorable ruling in arbitration. Horowitz says the pact lacked protections afforded to artists and entertainers under California law and tied Savage to Talk Radio Network indefinitely. As for the cost to Savage to which he refers to in his missive on the website, Horowitz says Savage spent more than $900,000 fighting his case but was awarded more than $1 million in arbitration. Savage will also have access to his audio archives. Still unclear is the exact amount of time Savage must remain off the air.
Don't they have a back up plan?

Dr. Bill is talking on kVI right now, in Savage's slot.

i'm assuming Dr. Bill was the friday only guy and the real new guy will appear monday night, although i'd be fine if they went with Dr. Bill as the replacement.

"male escort dog".....you think Savage cares about your little cheapshots?...hahahahaahh..this is a tough little monkey who triumphed over nasty. libber bullies on his own station (KGO) in his rookie days, less then twenty years ago, who were openly calling his show "Sewage Nation" on the air ....where are you now Chris Clark, you British bastard ?.... down the old garbage shute of history into talk radio's "black hole of obscurity"..aahahahahah.enjoy your 20 million dollar fortune, (all earned when he was well past 50 years old - a late bloomer) ,for a nice long break Savage, enjoy yourself, you've earned it.......thanks for the memories, Mike.....

libber bully Bernie Ward, (currently at Lompoc, wrapping up the last two years of his six year prison sentence for downloading kiddie porn), another of Savage's tormenters from those early days on KGO ,once was tried out on a nationwide network weekend talk show for a brief period (a matter of months, i believe) in the late 90's.....1997, i believe.....the jackass made some comments after Princess Diana's death to the effect that the British government had her down away with,,,,oops, no more "weekends at Bernie's" show....the suits at the radio network tossed him on his ear....hahahhaahahaah

It will be delicious to see if Weiner can't get a contract after the shit he pulled Thursday, no station wants to be left in the lurch. He's 70, he may just pack it in.

Contracts aren't worth much anymore. Why should Savage be accountable for decisions he makes and contracts he signs.
I guess Savage doesn't dislike contract lawyers . . . but oh those tort lawyers. What a hypocrite.
Packing it in would do us all a favor.

I'm sure he loves the lawyers when it suits him. Tommy, any old geezer can start a show spewing hate at 50, but there is nothing to it. I would like to see someone at 50 suddenly become an artist who learns the guitar or writes. Weiner is no talent

Savage does write. Try to keep up Preston. He wrote dozens of books about nutrition for 25 years, before the radio thing. Since then he has writen 4 or 5 books I think on politics,,and one novel, with 3 or 4 of the books N.Y Times best-sellers.. No one of any credibility would argue Savage has no talent, although they may dislike his views. You don't get your show on hundreds of stations with no or mediocre talent . hahahahahahaaah

Looking at wiki, I see his expertise is in botony and ethno-medicine. Too bad he didn't stick to it. He might be respected today. Instead, Andrew Weil has taken the lead in that area.
I didn't know Savage was fired from MSNBC after four months. At least he apologized for that one.
Reading about his early life, I can see how conflicted he is. He's had a lot of rejections. he wanted to be a Lenny Bruce. I feel kind of sorry for the guy. Seems like people who desperately want to be noticed and who are very smart eventually become compelled to get that attention any way they can.
Hahaha. A little psycho-analyzing for which I'm sure to be taken to task but I can see why he's so contemptuous of people who are more rational and calmer like liberals. He's simply compulsive - he's driven to get attention to himself. He's driven to prove that he's right about everything even if he has to do it by primitive methods.

He claims he'll be back on within two weeks. From his site: "WHILE I CANNOT DIVULGE MY DECISION AT THIS TIME, I CAN SAY I HOPE TO BE BACK WITHIN TWO WEEKS AND WITH THE MOST POWERFUL ANNOUNCEMENT IN MODERN RADIO HISTORY."
Right.
Some of his stations like WRKO Boston have gone with Levin, y'hello!

Evidently, KVI is still scrambling as their website still has TBA in the 9-11p slot. We'll keep following this

Savage is back on KVI, from 9 to 12 midnight m-f. Big new contract with Cumulus. Much to the dismay of TomLeylis, now reduced to internet crackpot status (oh they wanted him back on radio after his CBS contract expired he claims, butwouldnt pony up more than one sixth to one fifth of his 3mill plus CBS paycheck. Leykis hatesSavagesguts and rants about him often.

Both those hosts are irrelevent and don't matter in the general scheme of radio. Dori Monson rules!

I simply adore Savage and his savage ways. Jim Bohannon is scrumptious too!
