I had to post this link. It is perfect for KS, PS, "Audioslave?" - those who can't answer directly a question or statement but respond with put downs or sarcasm: Social Engineering and the Politics of Ignorance
We've all got friends like this. KS, are you one of these?
I asked my friend, whom I like and respect, if he had taken a train lately.
No response.
I also pointed out to him that Marx's writings were mostly about how societies change (and not communist revolution) and that there has never been a truly "communist" society. I suggested that it's really hard to find communists these days, unless you go to France or Italy, and even there they are few and far between.
No response.
My friend, in short, had little if any empirical evidence for his statements. He may have read Marx, but didn't say so. He may have taken a train, but remained silent on that matter.
Dr. Keith Ablow made some astute observations about the psychological impacts of the ACA aka the Healthcare Redistribution Tax which will make the progressives squeal - oh well, the truth hurts. Try as they might, they will not have a cogent argument against it, so they will try and attack him because of the lack of an argument. I have always been impressed with Dr. Ablow - I always preferred him over Dr. Phil.
"Last week’s health care ruling will undeniably affect the lives of Americans financially and economically, but how will it impact us psychologically?
Dr. Keith Ablow, a bestselling author and one of America’s leading psychiatrists, asserts that the change will be “absolutely infantilizing,” and there will be incalculable ramifications because of it.
The economic impact, he asserts, “pales in comparison” to the cost to the American mindset.
He told Megyn Kelly on “America Live” that money is a metaphor, and in allowing the federal government to direct our hard-earned income to insurance companies or anywhere else, we are effectively left with an “allowance” that we can use as our parents in Washington see fit.
He explained:
“When the government begins to act as parent to its citizens as children, and says ‘we are going to earmark your after-tax dollars…you must spend it on certain things,’ that [literally means] that you don’t know whether any of your money is really yours because today it could be health care, tomorrow it could be a hybrid vehicle that you are penalized financially for not buying.
“It takes control of your behavior in the way that a parent would of a child, and it diminishes us in terms of our autonomy and our ability to achieve things, even for liberty, on the world stage.”
It makes Americans believe that they are weak, he continued, and it absolutely infantilizes the country:
“Listen, even adolescents or younger kids [dream] of the day when they’re in charge of their own money. Why? Because we know that money has that significance, it means independence, it means that you’re in charge of your destiny, kids dream of this."

If I answer your question will you believe me, especially gievn that you claim to never watch TV? Why don't you watch MSNBC and find out for yourself if you're so curious.
I've never heard of him, btw, all of KS' talking points can be monitored via Micheal Savage. His sound clip is the one that started this whole thing about Roberts being 'epileptic' which is not necessary true as seizure medicine is prescribed for other reasons. It also shows how the right will eat their own.

That's a cop out. I knew Ed Schultz had to apologize for calling Laura Ingraham a slut, but not quite the same as admitting he was wrong. I see enough video clips to know. I also remember an occasion where
Cenk apologized to someone - do you know who ?
FYI - between 8 and 10 million/week listen to Savage. He is rated #3 behind Limbaugh and Hannity. I saw that info on this website a month or so agao.
Savage is no longer on the air here - he was replaced on KTTH over a year ago. He is on in Portland and most other major markets. He is too politically incorrect for the sensibilities of this area. Tommy008 is more the Savage listener.
Why does T-S have so much envy and contempt for Savage ?
KS, it is possible to dislike someone without it being related to envy. Do you envy Obama? Ed Shultz? I have never understood why someone on the right accused me of being "jealous" of Sarah Palin. Not jealous, just cant stand her.
No, Sparky - surprisingly enough there are other reasons. I do not envy Ed Schultz, no way no how. Nothing else except his money, but I get by.
When someone like Obama's keeps using bad policies and is deliberately screwing over the private sector when he knows that he is doing this it starts with the Healthcare Redistribution Tax aka the ACA - I loathe his policies and his constant prevarication, so I don't envy him either - would not want to be him either - he should watch his back side as he is the scammer in chief and there's a thing called karma that will eventually find him, hopefully on Nov. 6th. So, nice try in trying to change the argument, but as they say in Eastern Oregon - that dog don't hunt. I see that it's tough for a bleeding heart prog. to grasp the counterpoint, but you are on the wrong side, whether is stands up or not. I will ruin the economy over the next few years and beyond if allowed to stand and you can take that to the bank..
I don't see you as being jealous of Sarah Palin, if that means anything - she is so yesterday...
But the economy IS better, just not "perfect" which is the standard of the Right. We are no longer bleeding jobs, companies are starting to hire again, he saved the auto industry (Google GM}. The sure fire way to tell is the economy is picking up is by looking at the sales of nonessential goods, and people are buying cars and houses again.
We have a long way to go-Obama will be the first to tell you that-- but with two wars on the government credit card and a public pledge from the Right to block everything Obama does, it will take a long time, past Obama's presidency and well into our future. It could have been worse.
Savage is more educated, and holds a higher degree, and is of course more intelligent than almost all "schoolteachers".....hint hint, "T-S" hahahahahahahahaahhhh Savage and the new Tom Leykis show aer only fun, intelligent shows on the radio anymore, and Leykis isn even on ild school radio.... as KS says the tight-sphinctered, intolerant Seattle lib fascist mob ran Savage off of our local airwaves, years ago...
"lower forty percent of illiterates"...nice try....Savage listeners I'm absolutely certain, have a higher average education level and income level than those of our contingent of Savage bashers on this blog. Just my guess here but one i'm pretty certain of.
Easy to be "more educated." It's what you do with that education that tells the tale. Savage certainly has made the money and maybe that's all he wanted. For some people, they don't care how they make it. You like money, Tommy. Doesn't surprise me you think Savage is so smart. For a lot of people, money=smart. It has been our undoing since Reagan.
BTW, Savage makes his money off the 40% illiterates. I'm surprised you couldn't figure that out.
Walt, it's that Darn George W Bush's fault. Here is a list of all the broken promises caused by George W Bush just a mere 3.5 years into Pres Obama's tenure.
(and lets not forget Pres Obama actually got a Nobel Peace Prize on Spec just a month into his Presidency)
"George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in congress and who no longer occupies
The White House, is to blame for it all.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.
He broke Obama’s promise, to end earmarks.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.
He broke Obama’s promise, to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to make peace with direct,
no precondition talks with America ‘s
most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office,
ushering in a new era of global cooperation.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to end no-compete contracts with the government.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to disclose the names of all attendees at closed
White House meetings.
He broke Obama’s promise,
for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.
He broke Obama’s promise,
to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter.
Yes, it’s all George Bush’s fault!
President Obama is nothing more than a puppet
in the never-ending failed Bush administration.
If only George Bush wasn’t still in charge,
all of President Obama’s problems would be solved.
His promises would have been kept,
the economy would be back on track,
Iran would have stopped its work on developing a
nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel .
North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime,
and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.
Oh, and did I mention what it would be like, if the Democrats,
under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid,
didn’t have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks?
There would be no ear marks,
no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending,
no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying ( Nebraska , Louisiana ).
If only George Bush wasn’t still in charge, we’d have real change by now.
All the broken promises,
all the failed legislation and delay (health care reform, immigration reform)
is not President Obama’s fault or the fault of the
Democrat-controlled Congress.
It’s all George Bush’s fault !"
I guess that is your attempt to come off as clever? Well as a typical cut and paste, it was a nice try. As I said before, when the Republicans publicly pledge to block everything Obama set out to do that could have helped, it is amusing to watch them dance all over saying he hasn't done anything. I don't agree with everything that Obama has done, but I don't compare Obama with the Almighty. I compare him with the alternative. Hang tight PS, you will probably get to vote for Jeb in 4 years.
well, Jeb Bush is the 'smart Bush' and given that the 'dumb Bush' was able to make the Dems look silly and pretty much run them over 8 years. in fact, apparently W is running the Obama administration over the past 3.5 years given all those broken Obama promises caused by W. hmmmm.
the first two years of Pres Obama's admin, he had carte blanch. Veto Proof majorities in the House and Senate. He could enact the plan he wanted. He did. It didn't work so well and now he is back to blaming W.
why didn't Pres Obama do more? and yes, it is a cut and paste as I didn't write the article.
This isn't your thinking, PS. Where did you get it? Do you have a source? Are you afraid to post it?
PS, you think you're smart. You post like someone who thinks he is smart. But you keep falling for talking points that come from blogs.
Few of us on the left have given Obama high marks. Most of us admit he's not been the all the the candidate promised.
Walt simply responded in a linear way to KS: the economy is better. Obama took a bad situation and made it better. The only argument you people on the right seem to default to is a list of stuff that many of us on the left agree with.
What's the value in that? Is the economy better or not? Did he inherit a bad situation?
Yes or no. Simplicity is usually easy for you guys. Can you answer questions honestly or not?
Or do we have to get into mud-slinging all the promises (nation-building anybody) and stupid things done by the Decider? I can find blogs ready to give me a list just like yours.
Hmm I am beginning to understand now. Nothing was Bush's fault. It is all Obama's fault!! How could I be so clueless! Thanks for clearing it all up for me! ( you might want to do a little research on "veto proof" vs. "fillibuster proof." ) LMAO
You are pretty good at regurgitating the Republican talking points, I will give you that. You should post over at Sound Politics!
Actually, Walt responded to you linearly. He answered your question with facts and a response directed to your post. I wish you could learn to do the same.
nice try Walt, but a Filibuster-Proof Majority or Super Majority is the number of votes required to overcome a filibuster in the Senate. According to current Senate rules, 60 votes are required to overcome a filibuster.
Hmmmm. They had 60. Couldn't get it done, now could they?
T-S, or whatever name you are going by today, the above comment I posted was put in parens to acknowledge it wasn't my work product.
If you take issue with it, tell me which facts were in error?
ooops, yep i should have said quotes. not sure why i wrote parens. LMAO. and it was Sparky who had issues with pasting stuff and claiming it was her work product, T-S. Not I.
but you can't take issue with the truth of the material. it is parody. humor. but within it the element of truth remains. that is what makes it funny.
btw, over on SP they'll be running a contest for your next name. you may want to get in it. it's quite hilarious...
The "truth" of the material. That's a stupid statement on its face. You make a good case for Paul Stollar's contention that illiteracy is rampant in our society esp. among those who never suspect themselves. Simplifying everything into soundbites is the Roger Ailes Fox non-News recipe for people waiting to be told how to think.
T-S, purveyor of red herrings. I am not impressed with Paul Stollar's musings. His scientific evidence is etch-a-sketch at best and doesn't pass the smell test.
Think I'll enter that contest for the new name for T-S over at SP (dorky dorkman has already been taken). BTW- Audioslave and PSB are not the same person...
Savage is the little guy you just hate to have around,T-S because he just wont let Obama get away with his little slick tricks in his speeches , press conferences and official activities. Things like This year's 4th of July speech in front of the newly minted American Citizens, where he tried to conflate coming to America via Ellis Island, the legal way, with "crossing the Rio Grande" to get here, in the same sentence, as though it was a distinction without a difference. Oh and of course he had to throw in coming to America by slave ship in that same sentence, as well.
"Walt simply responded in a linear way to KS: the economy is better. Obama took a bad situation and made it better. The only argument you people on the right seem to default to is a list of stuff that many of us on the left agree with."
One BIG problem, T-S - another conflation; your assertion is FALSE and another prevarication. The economy is WORSE than in Jan. 2009. A vast majority of your ideas are unsustainable. Your motto ought to be "Unsustainable and proud of it".
T-008 is correct as he cut through the garbage that once again came out of Owebama's piehole. I respect the office of President, but not the person who duped millions of clueless Americans into voting for - he was there at the right time, when millions had Bush fatigue. I did too, but could see through this guy's character flaws and his high-fallootin and empty rhetoric. He has refined to be the great divider and the great prevaricator and wants to be the first dick-tator- given the chance/the Constitution won't stop him.

Posted by: Tommy008 | July 07, 2012 at 12:30 PM

Posted by: Walt | July 07, 2012 at 04:27 PM
well, Jeb Bush is the 'smart Bush' and given that the 'dumb Bush' was able to make the Dems look silly and pretty much run them over 8 years. in fact, apparently W is running the Obama administration over the past 3.5 years given all those broken Obama promises caused by W. hmmmm.
the first two years of Pres Obama's admin, he had carte blanch. Veto Proof majorities in the House and Senate. He could enact the plan he wanted. He did. It didn't work so well and now he is back to blaming W.
why didn't Pres Obama do more? and yes, it is a cut and paste as I didn't write the article.
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers--It's all George W Bush's fault | July 07, 2012 at 04:37 PM
You spend too many words on irrelevant detours.
And anybody who thinks the Republicans in Congress haven't made his job more difficult needs to post McConnell's words on their bathroom door and look at them every day: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.
Can you post anything remotely similar on the left?
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 04:46 PM
Hmm I am beginning to understand now. Nothing was Bush's fault. It is all Obama's fault!! How could I be so clueless! Thanks for clearing it all up for me! ( you might want to do a little research on "veto proof" vs. "fillibuster proof." ) LMAO
You are pretty good at regurgitating the Republican talking points, I will give you that. You should post over at Sound Politics!
Posted by: Walt | July 07, 2012 at 04:47 PM
Actually, Walt responded to you linearly. He answered your question with facts and a response directed to your post. I wish you could learn to do the same.
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 04:51 PM
I don't know why I post. It is always a waste of time asking you to be accountable for your own thinking. You just can't do it, Puget.
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 04:55 PM
nice try Walt, but a Filibuster-Proof Majority or Super Majority is the number of votes required to overcome a filibuster in the Senate.
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers--It's all George W Bush's fault | July 07, 2012 at 05:07 PM
Nice try at another mischaracterization, Puget or should I say Audioslave?
BTW, it wasn't in parens but quotes. There's a difference. And you still didn't source it. We've had this conversation before as well.
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 05:11 PM
ooops, yep i should have said quotes. not sure why i wrote parens. LMAO. and it was Sparky who had issues with pasting stuff and claiming it was her work product, T-S. Not I.
but you can't take issue with the truth of the material. it is parody. humor. but within it the element of truth remains. that is what makes it funny.
btw, over on SP they'll be running a contest for your next name. you may want to get in it. it's quite hilarious...
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers--It's all George W Bush's fault | July 07, 2012 at 05:16 PM
but if you want the source of the comments, go here
just a plain old Letter to the Editor.
Here
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers--It's all George W Bush's fault | July 07, 2012 at 05:22 PM
...it was Sparky...
See you are never accountable for yourself.
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 05:26 PM
SP and labels for liberals? That's your kind of simple. Not mine.
Posted by: T-S | July 07, 2012 at 05:28 PM
still waiting for you to name all the afore listed broken promises that were incorrect.
or does the 'truth' hurt T-S?
okay, i am off. enjoy the board.
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers--It's all George W Bush's fault | July 07, 2012 at 05:33 PM
