The wait is over! Those In The Know over at Talkers Magazine have released their Heavy Hundred list for 2012. While most of the results are predictable, there are a few new faces that are sure to annoy some of you. All of them have included bios that read as if their sainted mothers wrote them. It is a good mix of terrestial and satellite stations, men and women. This year there are a few more liberal voices on the list as well.
While we won't list all of them here--you can see the entire list at the link above--we will go through the list and show you a few of them. If you disagree, take it up with Talker's Magazine.
In the No Surprise category:
1. Rush Limbaugh
2. Sean Hannity
3. Michael Savage
Sure to draw ire on our little blog is
4. Ed Shultz
..and a few more names that are familiar:
5. Laura Ingrahm
7. Mark Levin
8. Thom Hartmann
9. Glen Beck
11. Stephanie Miller
12. Howard Stern
13.Neal Boortz
15. Alan Colmes
21. Dennis Miller
24. Michael Medved
33. Don Imus
38. Randi Rhodes
It must really annoy Mr. Blatherwatch to no end that Limbaugh is still tops.

I appreciate this information on the ratings. Besides being surprised by Schultz's ratings - he is loud and clear from 12-3PM on KPTK, I am also surprised by Michael Savage maintaining #3, even though he has not been on here for over a year and is on a low wattage station in the Portland area now. Beck keeps claiming he is #3, but is really #9 - his credibility has been shown to be questionable at times.
I'd be curious how Adam Carolla's #1 rated internet talk show compares to the Talkers Top 100 ratings. If you can find any information on that- others besides me would be interested.

KS, if you click on the link Heavy Hundred, you can see where all your favorites rate, provided they made the cut. Many are unknown to us because they are local talkers, but in a very large market. We found it interesting that Stephanie Miller ranked above the Howard.

Imus is interesting. There was a time when it looked like his career was cooked.

You didn't list #10 and I heard on Hartmann this morning that it was Joe Madison, an African-American and a good talker on the "righteous"(not rightwing) side.
Beck lies. You didn't know that?
Nice to see several left talkers enter the top twenty considering how few there are compared to right wingers. Where's Dori?
BTW, some time ago this blog linked a comic from Tom Tomorrow as I recall and got few responses. I do not think most people realize that when a term is emboldened (made bold?)it is a link to something else. Or maybe they do.

Beck is always a liar to the left because they hate on him (much like Dori) for the bad things he says about progressives.
In reality, he plays fast and loose with the facts on occasion,

After the obvious national names, the remainder of the 'Heavy Hundred' list bears a striking resemblance to the 'Talkers' subscriber list.

KS, are you saying he is #10? As Perry would say, answer the question, please: yes or no?

Joe Madison #10, cool.

Uh-oh! I meant #3, KS. Not #10. Sorry.

Leykis also has announced he had 401,000 individual listeners the first week of his online stream, and that is just the beginning

Nice to see Joe Madison at #10 and other left of center talk show hosts making the top 20.Dori Monson is a no show -at least Al Sharpton weighs in at #92

Egads. Can't stand Big Ed. What a loud mouth, self-promoting blow hole. And I am a progressive. Just can't stan Ed. Now Stephanie and Thomm I like. Big Ed needs to go back to his little radio station somewhere in N Dakota.

Why would you suggest that someone who connects so well with middle america and rallies people so well should go back to N Dakota? Are you interested in progressive ideas? If you are, then support the people who are trying and succeeding at getting it done. You don't have to like Bubba (what I used to call him). But you can respect him for connecting with the people and promoting our cause; if it is, in fact, your cause.
I'm no elitist about who does the job; I just want things to change.

John Carlson, Ken Schram, Ross-burbank and the one those here love to hate - Dori Monson all made Honorable mention (#101-250), but it only showed their names without rating.
The rating system seems rather quirky - for instance Michael Savage #3 has an est. 9 million listeners per week, while Sgt. Schultz #4 - has only 3 million/week on the radio and maybe not even 3 million/week on cable TV. There are other radio people - need I mention Glenn Beck who has 6 million listeners plus a internet TV show and other more palatable examples besides him.
Maybe internet Radio/TV doesn't count at all since Adam Carolla was not found anywhere in the ratings That is the quirkiest of all - would like to see if anyone else rates the talkers. Dennis Miller is #21 - not bad/ he seems to be better on radio than TV - where he has had several shows that bombed.

I thought Glenn Beck was exclusively on the Internet now? If so, you're right..the ratings must hinge on something else.

His HBO Shows during the 90's/early 2000's won 5 Emmys. Not too bad,eh?

Oops - guess I missed those - were those comedy specials ? Would like to see those on YouTube sometime.
Was thinking about his show on cable in the early 2000's that lasted less than 2 years, then his TV game show about 2009 that lasted only about 3 months. Recently, he was doing another TV series and had a cameo on Hawaii 5-0. He has been doing his radio gig for just over 5 years now.

yeah, when miller was on msnbc the show never clicked. they replaced him with donny deutche who brought with him money to pay for part of the show.
kind of a long info commercial was the 'big idea' and when you watch donny on 'morning joe' you figure this multi millionaire ad man is also bringing in some cash.
i pretty much change the channel when donny comes on.
