New do- it-yourself book by Dori Monson
On Tuesday's edition of the Dori Monson show 97.3 KIRO FM , our erstwhile conservative host without a nationwide audience, attempted to segue his own Shorecrest Scots going to finals with a Houston based Jewish High school.
It seems the private/parochial schools in Texas don't have a way around the darned Orthodox sabbath which begins on sundown Friday and runs 24 hours until sundown Saturday.
Most district league and regional playoffs are during the weekends, which was shifted to accommodate according to league director Edd Burleson, who told the NY Times, "if schedules are changed for these schools, it's hard for other schools. If we solve one problem, we create another problem."
The league has 20 semi-final games scheduled on Friday.
How does the coach and his players feel?
Robert M. Beren Academy Coach Chris Cole told Coach Dori "The White Shadow" Monson, "Basically what we're asking for is just a little change. If they can change the Daytona 500...if BYU can participate in the NCAA, those kind of things are logistics that can be worked out."
Dori asked, " Why not play this one game on the Sabbath?"
Uh huh.
Coach Cole said "The truth is the kids are not even angry about this. They are very disappointed but it's not part of the equation."
Walter Chronic.
i have finally gotten to the point where Monson is completely unlistenable, even as an exercise in the "guy you love to hate"/ guilty plesure phenomenon, which is the way I've been listenting tohim for basically the last 10 years or more. That doesn't even work for me anymore. There is something so terribly petty and just abysmally small, meanspirited and dishonorable about the man. He has a corrosive, accumulative effect on you, to the point that one day you've simply got to say- enough. That day has finally come.
