KS

Although your posts are nonsensical caricatures, at least you admitted you politicized this event are a race baiter, Seeker. Keep chasing ambulences like your brethren Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

"And you should all be ashamed and repentent and do something about it. Start with turning off Fox non-News.

Posted by: Truth-seeker | March 24, 2012 at 11:06 AM

Hypocrite ! Think I will call you propaganda seeker from now on. And you will keep watching MSNBC, believing the bilge there and from the state run media. It fails the smell test. Until more relevant facts are known here, I have no more comments on this sad event.

Montego

Well stated Dave.

Walt

Interesting timing Dave. KS just accused TruthSeeker of race baiting. I wonder if he will read your post? I agree with Montego, well stated, sir.

Truth-seeker

I have no more comments on this sad event.

Is that a promise?

Truth-seeker

Think I will call you propaganda seeker from now on.

Though name calling wasn't allowed on this blog?

nameless

I also think Dave has hit the nail on the head.

The coments from KS seem to be without thought.

sparky

Have you seen the picture of Bill O' and Geraldo sitting in the stands at a game--both are wearing hoodies.

Also on Maher last night, one guest pointed out that MLK and Malcome X were wearing business suits when they were assassinated.

Mary

"gangsta" dress Geraldo is in trouble for attributing some of this to hoodies. Honestly, I agree with his intention. He said he's a dad, too, and tells his son to stop the gangster outfits because in this society it isn't safe. Nothing to do with blaming Trayvon but really a comment on the society in which these children live where a person's clothing choices can get them killed.

Unbelievable.

Finis Hominis

Stupid people utter stupid opinions, but the people that accept them…well what can you say. Here’s the pic of ObillO and his mustachioed companion.

Courtesy of Buzzfeed

Mary

Yes, I'm aware of that. How does it change what I posted? This society is crazy. Are you saying that a kid in a hoodie might not be at risk when confronted by a George Zimmerman? Are you saying that Geraldo doesn't live with this fear every day?

Finis Hominis

Wasn’t commenting on your post. My commentary was aimed at what Geraldo said.

Walt

Isnt that like making the same argument that women are "asking for it" when wearing revealing clothing? The hoody accusation by Giraldo is the same thing, it blames the victim.

Mary

I think it blames the society rather than the victim. Geraldo wasn't blaming the victim as much as commenting on the reality his son faces every day. Should he sacrifice his son in the name of a platitude: don't blame the victim? Sometimes you have to walk in their shoes to see their perspective.

Walt

So if non-Caucasian males all stop wearing hoodies, baggy pants, etc. they wont be shot by the Zimmermans of the world? Really?

sparky

From Digby this afternoon:

" Think about it. Every other situation in which an innocent person gets gunned down there is a cacophony of gun nuts screeching that if only this person had been armed he could have defended himself. It's been the basis of every concealed and open carry argument for the last couple of decades.

And yet, in this case, nothing. No impassioned appeals for loosening the gun laws so that ordinary Americans could go to the store in the evening to buy some candy and an iced tea without getting stalked and shot by some unhinged vigilante. No solemn op-eds about the dangers for average Americans when venturing unarmed into the streets of their own neighborhoods. No fiery speeches from Wayne LaPierre insisting that if only everyone in the neighborhood had been armed with submachine guns they could have run outside and started firing immediately upon hearing the screams for help. Nada. Why do you suppose that is?"

Finis Hominis

No one should have to worry about what they wear. I don’t buy the silliness of a man wearing a mustache from the 70’s. Many black men are treated with mistrust no matter what they are wearing.

Finis Hominis

Walt, you beat me to it. I need to hit that refresh button before posting.

Mary

I didn't say that, Walt. Don't put words in my mouth. It is one part of the reality. You don't usually post so black and white. Respond to Geraldo's concern for his son. Is it valid?

Who has more right to judge the validity of such a comment: you or a man who is speaking to the circumstances his son lives every day?

Mary

Finis: No one should have to worry . . .

No, they shouldn't. But maybe they do. A white kid, probably not. A black kid, can you say absolutely that they have nothing to worry about?

Finis Hominis

OK, I see your point; I’ve given my opinion to my children from time to time. Did Geraldo say a child is dead because he wore something Geraldo deems threatening? I don’t get that. I would never tell my child, expect to be detained by the police if you wear that thing.

Finis Hominis

I also think the mustachioed one is full of shit as he is seen wearing a hoodie in the photo.

Mary

Well, that I can't say. I think it was more "don't tempt fate." But that's in his head and not mine. I see your point as well. These kids have a tough road to travel. I will be glad when the old white hate machine finally dies. Do you ever watch Psych? I love that show. I refer a lot of people to that show to see what the future can be if the young don't repeat the ways of the old.

Mary

Ah, the mustachioed one: isn't he with the righteous-of-the-right one? He needed worry as long as he's under Billo's protection.

Walt

I think Giraldo's comment was simplistic. It is a much bigger problem than just what a black kid wears. Sure he can tell his kid not to wear a hoodie, but it wont guarantee his safety as long as the Zimmerman's of the world shoot black kids because they are black, not because of what they are wearing. The man was out driving around in his car looking for someone to call 911 about, was told by the police not to pursue the boy, but he ignored it. Vigilantes and rapists--its about violence, not about what the victim wears. And Finis is right. Geraldo is full of shit.

Mary

Except for your line telling Geraldo his opinion about his son's welfare is shit, I agree with most of what you say. In fact, I think it is pretty much what I'm saying.

Finis Hominis

Mary, I haven’t caught Psych, don’t watch a lot of TV. I’m a reader. Have you read Game Change yet?

Mary

No, but I hear great things about it. I'll get it for sure. Probably summer reading because I'm pretty busy. I watch Psych on ION on Saturday nights. Started when I got my 42" TV. I'll order it form Amazon right now.

KS

Not sure why the Florida Law officials have not taken action on this homocide. If anyone is to blame, it is them.

Ah, but wait, new evidence has surfaced; eyewitness evidence suggests there appears to have been a motive

Maybe Dave's comment was more thought out than the rest of the rush to judgment. I would also say Geraldo is full of dog squeeze. What is clear to me is that a vast majority of commenters are only getting half of the story, then jumping on the racial injustice bandwagon. You would all be piss poor investigators. This is a complex case and more evidence will eventually come out. Zimmerman was Hispanic with black relatives, so sorry race baiters, this case does not fit in the white racist box - it must be frustrating.

The President even spoke out of turn about this, as he has done before. He is good at fanning racial flames and dividing in hopes of conquering - a technique also used by Nixon.

KS

I also think Dave has hit the nail on the head.

The coments from KS seem to be without thought.

Posted by: nameless | March 24, 2012 at 12:49 PM

Nameless - you are simplistic like Geraldo and also gutless ! See my most recent comment.

Walt

As usual, KS, you do an outstanding job of illustrating the point.

Finis Hominis

Hahaha...

KS

After reading and hearing more about this, I am beginning to believe that Zimmerman should be held in custody pending an investigation- in spite of Florida's insane law.

If nothing else, it would shut up the intellectually bankrupt ambulance chasers (Jackson, Sharpton, Occupiers, et.al.). What say you, Finis ? Walt ?
Hhaha...

Mike D

If the "intellectually bankrupt ambulance chasers" had shut up there wouldn't be a spotlight on this case or the Florida law, genuis. It'd be business as usual in the sunshine state, which is what you'd apparently prefer, despite your pretentious "concern" about the situation.

Puget Sound Blathers

Mike D
Why not let the facts and investigation finish before making a decision? Please recall the Duke Lacrosse case or the Susan Smith case. Both cases, initially had racially charged themes and that ultimately were found to be unfounded. The Duke LaCrosse case was not a racial incident involving the rape of a black woman nor was Susan Smith claim valid that her children had been carjacked by a black man who drove away with her sons.
Any time you have intellectually bankrupt ambulance chasers like Al Sharpton (Tawana Brawley anyone?) involved with his bullhorn you should immediately take some breathers. The fact that MSNBC gives him a show is a discredit to their name.

Montego

Yes, I agree with Puget Sound. We should wait until the police to give us the straight dope. And if they don’t step up then the tea party will protest and Fox news will cover the whole story.

Tip for KS; this is snark.

ExPatBrit

I think it's about time we instituted a 7 day waiting period for Skittles and Iced tea.

Obviously this could have prevented this tragedy.

I hope Mars and Lipton have deep pockets.

Evidently, Mike D responded without comprehending what I had previously written. Your concern about political points masks itself by your pretentious concern about justice here.

To be clear: I would prefer justice for all which could have been obtained without "Tawany Brawley" Sharpton and Jesse Hijack-son. ExPatBrit - Did you bother noting that Martin attacked Zimmerman according to a witness ? Like all of you, I did not have all of the facts and admitted that and also resisted a rush to judgment.

Truth-seeker

Breitbart . . . facts . . . ?

Excuse me while I check those facts in World-nut Daily.

Finis Hominis

KS,
As reported by the local Fox affiliate and passed about at FreedomTorch(the tea baggers facebook). If you were watching other sources you’d find there was also a child walking his dog and seen the confrontation. No one knows who started the aggression, except there was a 911 operator who told Zimmerman not to pursue. There is also a young lady who heard the young man question Zimmerman as to why he was following him. If you seen the corridor which this situation took place, you may not be surprised if more witnesses come forward.

Truth-seeker

Finis-you mentioned Game Change. I was intending to read until I saw Halperin was a co-writer. I'm not a Halperin fan. What makes the book worth the read?

KS

Propaganda seeker - just because publication does not agree with your political "sensibilities" does not mean it lacks credibility, so I'll ignore that ridiculous comment. World Net Daily is different- it has less credibility than Breitbart.com and is no better for cred than many far left websites.

The attack of Zimmerman by Martin was only one witness's account. Hopefully more witnesses will come forward, because right now a good portion of the big picture is still missing.

Truth-seeker

Name calling again, KS? Double standard.

Finis Hominis

Yah, I know what you mean, but after watching the movie I had to read the book. There’s a lot of inside baseball within that book. After I read it, my wife picked it up and finished it about 3 days later.

Finis Hominis

KS,
If a good portion or the story is missing how on earth can you extol Zimmerman was attacked?

KS

Truth Seeker belies your comments here, IMO. Try another screenname that more accurately describes your personna. Double standard ? Pot meet kettle.

FH - Zimmerman was attacked by Martin according to one witness before he was shot by Zimmerman. I was merely presenting a piece of evidence that had not been considered here. Not a convincing argument.

Truth-seeker

It's none of your business what my screen name is. Shall we go back to the days of King Shit?

Mr. Hood's temporary Site Cop

The name calling is approaching the "delete" stage. Tone it down, folks. It drives people away.

Finis Hominis

"The guy on the bottom who had a red sweater on was yelling to me: 'help, help…and I told him to stop and I was calling 911," he said.
Trayvon Martin was in a hoodie; Zimmerman was in red.
The witness only wanted to be identified as "John," and didn't not want to be shown on camera.
"When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy, was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point," John said.

How the Fox affiliate got from the quote above to the head line “Witness: Martin attacked Zimmerman” is beyond me.

Puget Sound Blathers

i read game changer back when it first came out.
relax, it is a very straight forward/easy read.

if you want to look for a slant, yes you can probably find a slant. like almost any book involving politics. just adjust for windage a bit and you can still find much to enjoy.

definitely not some weighty tome that you have to set aside a summer to read. if you want, get the audible version. you can listen while your gardening, working out, etc.

ExPatBrit

Well since it's Breibart we probably have to wait for James O'Keefe to splice all the "relevant" cuts together.

All in the correct "context" you understand.
