It's doubtful this 2008 New Hampshire Romney fan on the left is alive this year to vote for Mittens, but no doubt he'd be thrilled to be participating this weekend. There are two debates from the Granite State. One on ABC tonight, and another tomorrow morning on Meet The Press. It's an overdose for junkies, and fisticuffs that could well winnow the GOP field even further.
I will also have Twitter going on the laptop. Makes it extra good.
I hope someone asks Santorum to explain his "blah people" comment.
Posted by: sparky | January 07, 2012 at 05:10 PM
Santorum supports the insurance companies when it comes to pre-existing conditions. Pay for yourself, or die, he says.
Posted by: dingo | January 07, 2012 at 05:23 PM
Heck yeah..'specially if you are blah.
Posted by: sparky | January 07, 2012 at 05:36 PM
I would hope that Jon Hunsman gets more traction in this debate. The Republicans are acting stupid by failing to understand that he is the candidate the Democrats fear the most - less baggage and a clear message. After all, the main objective should be to WIN in November
Posted by: KS | January 07, 2012 at 06:02 PM
Jon Huntsman..
Posted by: KS | January 07, 2012 at 06:02 PM
KS, you're onto something. Huntsman should be one of the leaders. He's the only normal guy on the stage. He's smart But he's anti abortion. He won't win with that stand.
Santorum insisted on a better position on the stage. He's front and center tonight.
Posted by: Truthseeker | January 07, 2012 at 06:15 PM
Sanatorium compares himself to jesus.

WTF? Did we actually have a President Mondale, Dukakis, Gore, or Kerry?
Like being anti-abortion kept Reagan, Bush Snr and Bush W getting elected...
I prefer Huntsman but fear he'll not make in within the Repub Party for other reasons.
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers | January 07, 2012 at 07:01 PM
So, what are they? Spit them out. You're so coy.

Yes, let's hear the reasons or excuses PS.
Posted by: Johnny Sombrerro | January 07, 2012 at 07:16 PM
Please
Really one of the worst debates ever.
Posted by: sparky | January 07, 2012 at 07:21 PM
Perry sounds like a fool. Santorum is having trouble keeping up with the big guys - he's not used to it - but getting smoother. Romney answers by changing the question. Huntsman isn't getting enough questions but he's good. I might vote for him if he ran . . . And the audience is getting a history and civics lesson from Paul.
Gingrich is just forgettable.
Posted by: Truthseeker | January 07, 2012 at 07:27 PM
Actually, it was one of the better debates because most of them took some effective and deserved shots at Borat Obama that the news media (incl. ABC) bends over backwards to downplay or hide from the pubilc.
However, noone attacked Romney with anything that stuck, which was disappointing. One reason why - Because Romney attacked Obama and other candidates fell into line by attacking him also - they finally figured out who the real opponent is.
Huntsman got in a few licks in with his Mandarin Chinese "you don't understand" back at Romney.
I also liked his answers on fixing the economy - use Bowles-Simpson proposals, his knowledge in foreign policy and his success as Governor of Utah. True, he did not get enough questions and as PSB said, there are other reasons he likely won't get selected as the nominee. Hopefully he will finish ahead of Santorum and Paul in NH. NH is more reality based than Iowa.

Gee, brave words for GOP candidates- bash Obama.
Thought maybe someone would break themselves away from the pack and give Romney something other than a coronation.
Did not happen.
Whatever happened to the tea party? Thought they were wondrously going to lead the way- first in the Party and then THE WORLD!
Maybe they all died off since 2010.
Hell, the GOP has got in line against the moderate they all hate. He's probably most viable, but here's one Republican who will vote for Ron Paul or whatever libertarian on the ballot.
At last a year we can watch the Olympics!
Posted by: Bernard and Donna Yates | January 07, 2012 at 09:12 PM
'they finally figured out who the real opponent is"- as Neil Bortz saya-" we oppose Obama not because he'sblack, but because he's a fool and wants America to fail".....
Posted by: Tommy008 | January 07, 2012 at 09:36 PM
Funny that Ron Paul did not bother to attack Romney, so he was also part of that conspiracy. Paul would be OK if he wasn't such an isolationist (like Pat Buchanan) and stay away and disavow Alex Jones and the 9-11 truthers - even more wacked out than the birthers.
The Tea Party is out there, but hear they are waiting to weigh in after a candidate for POTUS is determined - time will tell. No one of the GOP candidates are fiscally conservative enough or electable enough to get their support.
Posted by: KS | January 07, 2012 at 09:40 PM
Yes, the Tea Party is out there...way out..

T Seeker and Johnny Hat
As you know, the Repub Party is made up of many groups. During the primaries the two groups most likely to get out and do the work are the hardcore social conservatives and the holly roller evangelicals. For the former, Huntsman has been a mixed bag and having worked in the Obama Administration is not considered a plus. So he won't garner enthusiasm from them. In regards to the latter group, the sad fact is that a large portion of them view Mormonism in a negative light.
If Huntsman can get into the general election he would be a great candidate.
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers | January 08, 2012 at 05:31 AM
Seems to me that the moderators heard too much negative talk about Obama last night, so they threw up a smoke screen with a question about prohibiting contraception and also mentioned the repeal of Roe v. Wade - most everyone said that either it was not the place of the Federal Government and it was up to the States or NO. Someone finally said that in the Federal Government, a monster has been created and it must be significantly downsized if we are to survive as a Republic.
Snuffaloffogus tried to get the GOP candidates to attack each other, but the candidates for the most part did not fall for it and turned it around and attacked the syndicate occupying the White House.
Agree with PS, but unless Huntsman is still standing after at least 2 more candidates get out, the odds are stacked against him. I'd like to see a poll on how he does against the incumbent - but haven't. His electability should be high - as good as Romney and maybe even better, but his nomination probability appears low.

spot on KS. i didn't catch the debate. kind of sad that the 'moderators' let their political skirts show. not as bad as keith 'mad as hell' olberman or chris 'tingles' mathews. another reason why msnbc has effectively been marginalized.
Posted by: puget sound blathers | January 08, 2012 at 12:35 PM
The debate was on ABC, professor. Diane Sawyer's "political skirt" was signed by Richard Nixon, for whom she worked in the 60's

ABC, that's Stephanopis network pal. You'll remember him, use to be a big too-do in the Clinton Admin and shills for the Demos.
but as bad as abc is, it has a long way to go to beat msnbc. that's why i tossed in the transitional phrase 'not as bad as...' and then made some remarks about the personalities and coverage of msnbc.

Look up the word "blather" Puget Sound. You'll see that it fits you perfectly.

Nothing about Sawyer being a Republican?

Walt
now hang on there 'professor', can you give us some indication of the type of 'friendly' qtns that she fed the candidates last night?
ks laid out the case against stephanopolis.
go ahead, this should be interesting.
Truthseeker
er, the blog is called 'blatherwatch' dontcha know?

I am much more interested in your follow up of why you think Diane Sawyer showed her "political skirt."
Apparently you believe she asked some hard hitting questions.
Posted by: Walt | January 08, 2012 at 07:01 PM
actually, it was directed at stephanopolis.
so 'walt', how 'bout answering the question posed to you? or is it all hat and no cattle with ya?
Posted by: Puget Sound Blathers | January 08, 2012 at 07:28 PM
You said "moderators" did you not?
Posted by: Truthseeker | January 08, 2012 at 08:31 PM
He calls all the ladies, "skirts" like Lt Tragg did in Perry Mason.
Posted by: Paisano | January 08, 2012 at 08:58 PM
I'm well aware it was a slam against George, so apparently you do think Sawyer asked probing questions.
Posted by: Walt | January 08, 2012 at 09:11 PM
Quite a difference between the debates now, when the media ownership is down to 6 corporations, and back in 1980 when there was 50.
background on the debates

Posted by: Walt | January 08, 2012 at 07:01 PM
Contrast the questions she asked last night with the ones she and Snuffluffogis asked the Democrat candidates for POTUS back in 2008. It's as plain as the nose on your face, they are part of the Obama rally squad or Obamamedia if you will - hence she showed her political skirt. Sawyer asked some irrelevant questions about contraception and gay marriage meant to change the topic and get away from the deserved bashing of Borat Obama by the candidates, IMO.
Too many friggin' debates. Interviewing the candidates individually would be more revealing and would be less of an insult to our intelligence. The debates should not be cast in stone and subject to change by the Republicans- right ?
Posted by: KS | January 08, 2012 at 10:13 PM
KS, can't you write anything without coming off as puerile? All the name calling for Obama is really off-putting. And it doesn't help your debate one little bit. Nobody takes you seriously.
Posted by: Mary | January 09, 2012 at 12:03 AM
Mary, Quite frankly I don't like to mince words and if you are put off by me - too bad. Yes, I mock the President and I consider that his presidency has been disgusting as he is a corrupt ideologue, doesn't care if a majority of Americans disagree with his big monster government policies and the media covers for him at every turn. A plurality of Americans feel similarly. Were you one of those that thought of GW Bush as Bush-Hitler ? Mr. Obama has the audacity to ignore the constitution as he has on a number of occasions (most recently making a recess appointment when the Senate was in session) and also flip off fellow politicians who disagree with him in debates (i.e. Paul Ryan and Hillary Clinton) - which is clearly unpresidential, therefore he comes across much like the character of Borat.
So, if you want to keep burying your head in the sand - have at it. As for not taking me seriously, you should know what that feels like. Sorry - it doesn't bother me.
Posted by: KS | January 09, 2012 at 08:36 PM
When did the President flip off Hillary in a debate, and when did he ever debate Paul Ryan, let alone flip him off?? Your fantasy world is encroaching dangerously on real life and actual facts?.
Posted by: jph | January 09, 2012 at 09:13 PM
KS will now say he never said that Obama flipped anyone off and that to think so makes you a Marxist sympathizer.

Well, he did and if you don't believe it, check YouTube if you dare. Your willful ignorance and disregard for opinions that don't agree with yours is typical of an Obama-zombie.

Nice try, Walt, but you are DEAD wrong. I challenge you to check these out on YouTube if you dare. If you come back with further skepticism, I can assist you in locating photo evidence.
Posted by: KS | January 09, 2012 at 10:11 PM
i also saw the videos of Obama slyly( so he thought) flipping off Hillary and others during the debates. I think Obama, with twenty years in a blavk racist church under his belt, was fliping them off more for being white than anything else. Of course he looked liek a fool when caught doing it, but more importantly it was incredibly dismaying that someone who thought he deserved to be President would still be at this base, street level. Obama's hero is Jay Z the rapper, who not too many years ago was arrested for stabbing a man in the back. The man lived by chance of luck and the rapper got off with basically no jail time. Clinton called Obama a Chicago thug. We have to remember this at all times, no matter how slickly he's able to hide his true nature by artifice and acting.
Posted by: Tommy008 | January 09, 2012 at 11:06 PM
0ccaisionally Rush says something very perceptive- "Barack Obama is a man with a chip on his shoulder against this country". The flipping off behavior fits right in with this particular personality aberration.
Posted by: Tommy008 | January 09, 2012 at 11:24 PM
we ain't seen nothing yet. I watched in realtime how flustered anf ugly Obama can get when things aen't going his way. i saw him walking around an a campaign rally stage, agitated as Hell talking about putting "lipstick on a pig" ( the pig was Sarah Palin- it was abovious by the way the audience roared a split second after he said "pig") and looking liek he was in the middle of a personal meltdown. This was right after MCcAIN had picked Palin, causing his fortunes to reverse in the polls. Expect Obama to ervert back to this base, "street" ugliness as Romney gets him all flustered and off his game on the campaign trail and in the debates. Romney'ss very good behind a debate podium, articulate and fast on his feet. He will take the debate right to Barack and Barack will become angry and nasty. His finger flipping days are probabllly over now, though, since he was so totally busted on that.

a new book about Michelle Obama came out today. You have to read between the lines when you read quotes from the auhtor or hear her being interviewed. She's an ultra-liberal New York TImes reporter who haS sn obvious extreme pro-Michelle bias. But even from what she says, after runniNG it through your bs machine, you can kind of get the jist of things which is that this woman is a real dragon lady and a power tripper in the West Wing.
Posted by: Tommy008 | January 10, 2012 at 12:11 AM
"Everyone is waitng for a black woman to make a mistake" -quote from Michelle Obama in The Obamas, the above mentioned new book. This shows that Michelle , like her husband is stil mired in racial victimhood and self pity and sees America as a horribly racist country, which clearly is not true. Again, partially the legacy of Barack and Muichelle sitting their butts down on the front row of pews in Reverend Wrights black racist church for twenty years.

All right KS (and Tommy) I went to youtube and looked up "Obama flipping off Hillary" and found video of Obama scratching his nose. This was not news footage, it was displayed by someone who didn't give his name and was designed to appeal to men like you who have never moved past 7th grade. I bet you giggle at Bevis and Butthead.
