"God is with me. I fear not!" ~~Glenn Beck at the Temple Mount, Old Jerusalem.
Glenn Beck (KTTH m-f 6-9a) bid adieu and hello to New York with a gigantic, fuck-you NY billboard pitching his for-pay, Internet-based network where his new two-hour show will resurface Sept 12.
He's gone from Fox News, and on to more and bigger things. A subscription for Beck's new show will cost viewers $4.95 a month, or $9.95 for full access to the network.
He's moving to Dallas to build a broadcasting studio, and planning for it to be a tourist attraction and powerful symbol of the Glenn Beck brand, like Disneyland is to Disney products.
Meanwhile, residents of Mount Airy, North Carolina are asking: Where is that damn textile manufacturing plant you promised? They're ready to talk turkey.
Seems Beck shot his mouth off a couple of months ago saying he was going to build a textile plant in America, to create jobs for Americans, to produce a clothing line called 1791. (That's the year of the ratification of the Bill of Rights, yodel-head).
The Charlotte Observer:
Mayor Deborah Cochran brought this to the attention of city council, and while the commissioners unfortunately opted against supporting her efforts, the mayor contacted Beck, asking him to consider Mount Airy.
Eventually the city commissioners got on board, as have Surry County officials, local economic development leaders and others from the business community. T-shirts have been sold that carry messages exhorting Beck to bring his thus-far nonexistent manufacturing company to Mount Airy. Governing bodies have passed resolutions of support, the mayor has appeared on his radio show and done additional work trying to attract Beck.
Media network? Textile factory? But, but but, what about the end of the world??? Why should anyone make long term plans, Glenn? This from two weeks ago in Israel:
The global economy is collapsing, Beck warns; the U.S. and Europe are descending into anarchy, and Islamic terrorists are on the verge of achieving their ultimate goal: the annihilation of Israel.
“The world is burning,” Beck says, his voice shaking with emotion. “Whatever we’ve thought would never change, whatever we’ve grown to think is solid and strong and durable, is under siege. You don’t have to be a prophet to know that things aren’t going so well in the world. The threats are mounting. Evil is growing. And darkness is falling.”
Apparently, as the darkness falls after the Apocalypse, Glenn Beck will OK, safe and secure enough to be beaming the light of truth into the shadows of darkness; and availing survivors with some good-looking, Made in America arm-shirts for their retail consumption.
"If I had a nickel for every sucker..."
OTOH, why, exactly, is this a network? Don't networks, by definition, require affiliates - either broadcast stations or cable systems? Why is GBTV.com a "network" rather, than, you know, a web site?

glenn beck is an interesting cat. he has skills in being able to reach some folks, just not my cup of tea. but to deny he has skills, some may call it hucksterism, is to miss the point.
but yeah, pete, i know what you mean, those 'suckers' are also known as 'low information voters.'
al gore took advantage of many of 'em, even got folks on this blog who still think that 'carbon offsets' are on the up and up. right, joanie sombrero?

He'll probably come back to Puget Sound(not the idiot above me) but the body of water and throw himself in.

PSB, I'll be the first to give Beck props for having talent. He's very, very good at what he does. The problem is that what he does is sell unhinged conspiracy theories to the credulous, and laugh all the way to the bank.
JS, it would never occur to Beck to throw himself into a body of water. He thinks he can walk on it.

I think Beck (and Limbaugh and all those Fox dummies) and even local Jerkoff In Chief, Dori Monson) don't actually believe the crap they spew. I think they are all just in it for the money.
I don't know if such a thing is available, but anybody have any income statistics for these people?

I usually don't listen to Beck on the radio - I prefer Bob Rivers on KJR-FM. Not necessarily my cup of chai either. However, he has talent and seems to do his homework on various topics, and is too quick with the conspiracy theories and hard to take him seriously.
Beck's TV show is better than his radio gig and he did a fine research job on Mr. Soros, who immediately sent a few of his henchmen over the Fox News to request that he get taken off the air. Seems like Soros was annoyed with him disseminating too much information that Soros wanted to keep hush-hush. Now he is off Fox News - they parted fairly amicably - according to credible sources, but he has popped up somewhere else - OMG - his own TV network, but am sure it won't last long - right ? (sarc)

I really can't wait for Dori to graduate to Fox News and be out of our hair...

Amen to that, Arty Ziff.

Anybody see John Carlson on O'Reilly tonight? He did a fine job on covering the Longshoremen thugs criminal invasion in Longview Thursday.

No we didn't see it, but thanks for alerting us to a far worse form of thuggery in the name of herr Reilly. Keep up the guard shack duty, chucks.

if these longshoremens apes have to stoop so low and ignoranr as to pull crap like the invasion in Longview, it really proves that they could never make the six figure salaries many of them make, out in the nonunion, general job world, competing head to head with men much brighter than them. I do not oppose unions...these peple should appreciate what they have as far as salary and so forth and be realistic.

Oh JOANIE Sombrero, even YOU should know that John Carlson is one of the more talented local talkers. He even hosted Rush for three hours.

Public Sector Unions like the one below are the ones that have to go - the private sector unions have a justified cause. Here it is..

hey KS
I love that clip.
wonder if he spends time up in Birch Bay...LMAO

ROFLOL..
It seems like the current President condones this type of behavior in the name of his re-election campaign. When it comes to asking him to denounce it, all we hear are flimsy excuses like he didn't hear or see it or just crickets chirping.

KS was missing in action when Rand Paul goons were beating a woman in the gutter for simply asking a question. KS has cognitive disorder issues.

Rumor is Beck could not get the appropriate permits from the EPA to open a factory within 2000 miles of the Sacramento River so as to not harm snail darters.
He will likely build his factory in Guatemala. That will save his employees a fortune in commuting costs.
Posted by: chucks | September 10, 2011 at 08:48 PM
