This ad is from 1986 - for oldies KVI is prior to the Rush Limbaugh detour of KVI radio which began in 1991. What goes around sometimes actually does come around- the station was flipped back to oldies November 1, 2010. Unfortunately, no one has heard from it since.
I would expect that KVI will flip again soon, the numbers are atrocious. Olympia stations that barely make it into Seattle are routinely beating them. The DJ's are terrible. The girl in the morning can't read, and none of them remember how to run a board.

It used to be that the radio business "drove" the culture of the city. You would stop your friends on the way to work and say "...did you hear what Emperor Smith said this morning."
Now its just background and run by MBA types who only know how to read a spreadsheet.

The few times I've listened to the "new" KVI, the deejays sound like idiots talking to morons.
Bring back KYAC and Frank P. Barrow!

i don't listen to KVi, buy whats the deal with all the Brooklyn boys hosting the Dr. Pinskys and Dr. Minskys , letting them flack all their new wonder pills in the early morning weekend hours on my tadio. This is just a racket for the Jews.

KVI sounds like it belongs in a 100+ market. Oldies with a dash of personality still works. Too bad Fisher didn't bother to get someone who knows how to work it.
In the meantime, KVI, this advice:
Be Entertaining
Be Informative
Or Be Quiet

KVI was the original Seattle Mariners flagship station. Perhaps they should change to Sport-talk.

Plenty of blame to go around:
1. Fisher Corporate. They've done everything wrong on this frequency including bailing on the one format (conservative talk) that actually had a chance of success in this market.
2. Kent Phillips. He's the programming brains behind the current KVI product. What a mishmash of bad music and horrible mechanics. Plus news at the top AND the bottom of the hour? Really??
3. KVI Management. What's the logic behind informercials in the middle of weekend days? Doesn't really help PPM ratings but at least you have the hourly rate to help cover that fat Bryan Suits contract you're still paying for.

Must be a real kick for the kids at Mercer Island high, (home of KMIH), to know they are whupin' a big time city station, like KVI, in the ratings.

KVI 100 + pazarda ait gibi geliyor. Kişilik bir çizgi ile Oldies hala çalışır. Çok kötü Fisher nasıl çalıştığını bilen birisi almak için rahatsız etmedi.

If KVI's Ric Hansen were a ring announcer for the WWF/E back in the day, the main event would of been Rowdy Roddy Piper vs. King Kong Bundy in a Steel Cage Match.
I wonder if he's seen Greg Copeland on KING 5 and/or NWCN?
