Picture this: It's evening in a New York's Bryant Park. The crowd is drinking (alcohol) as they wait for an outdoor movie to start.
A family, plainly uncomfortable being here, huddles on a red, white, and blue blanket praying no one notices them.
Otherwise, he's nice.
Dad, of course is religious emo, radio race baiter Glenn Beck and they were in what he later called a "hostile situation."
"Someone kicked a cup of wine intentionally onto my wife's back," Beck said, tearfully, "As my daughter went to use the restroom, some guy stood up and pointed his finger and said, 'we hate conservatives here!'"
To hear him tell it on the radio, they barely escaped death at the hands of New York's liberal elitist thugs.
"If I had suggested — and I almost did — wow, does anybody have a rope? Because there's a tree here. You could just lynch me. And I think there would've been a couple in the crowd that would've!"
Instead of lynching Beck, and dragging his bloody corpse through Manhattan (as we usually do) the ugly mob of half-naked progressives and secularists decided to symbolically pour red wine on Beck's wife Tanya's back, (a ritualistic act by which we libs customarily show our displeasure with an enemy, once we've decided not to string them up).
We don't know what really happened... his version is his, and he's a renowned liar. A woman, however, wrote in to Gawker to say that her friend, accidentally spilled wine on Tanya:
I was on the blanked directly behind Mr. Beck, and while we did find it amusing that wine was spilled on Tanya & co, I can tell you that it was 100% accidental. My friend was drinking her wine and it tipped over, as wine glasses are wont to do. We immediately helped Tanya & co clean up the "mess" and offered them our napkins, and apologies were made. There was no hostility or animosity in the exchange, and I find it hard to believe that a half-filled glass of wine would be capable of "soaking" anyone, even waif-thin Tanya. Moreover, why would we waste the wine?
With a "waif-thin" wife, delectable children, and his own plump cheeks on display, Mr. Beck is just lucky the progressive cannibal or vampire communities weren't out that night in the wilds of Manhattan hunting for conservative flesh to eat or non-secular blood to drink.
Mr. Beck maybe best advised to stay inside his castle walls. It's certainly best for the children... although, chances are: we will get your children.
Today is his last day on the TeeVee, I heard. How much will he need to ramp up the hysteria to keep himself relevant? Kind of a scary thought.

"As my daughter went to use the restroom, some guy stood up and pointed his finger and said, 'we hate conservatives here!'"
Does anyone believe that actually happened? Does anyone belive a New Yorker would say "We hate conservatives here"? Come on, no one would actually say that. Plus, to hear Beck say it, this happened half-way across the park when his daughter was no where near him.
Totally made up.

Isn't Beck a has been? Or have I been blissfully dreaming?

This is funny. I've been trying to get Michael to post some stuff from lefties but they're all too busy spewing "propaganda:" analyses of the Supreme Court; investigations into the corrupt charges against and incarceration of Don Siegelman; and treatises on voter fraud - real voter fraud, not the ACORN fiction. Yes, the occasional in-fighting such as the Sirota-Schultz mini-feud; impolite name-calling Schultz-Ingram bruhaha; and KUOW's on-line interview of James O'Keefe about its own behavior in firing a decent professional and O'Keefe's part. But nothing can beat the "propaganda" on the right.
"Propaganda" - hat tip to Pete.

I don't really believe too much of this story either. I have a friend that has actually been to New York and she says the people there are really nice and friendly.
Glen Beck TV (GBTV) starts in September. The best value subscription is only $99.95 per year and even includes his radio program podcast.

poor Glen

His radio broadcast can be had for free though, so I don't see any advantage outside of the GBTV.
Did Beck have any film footage of this or any eye-witnesses ? I know that the left uses mob psychology at every turn, but I am waiting for the evidence before passing judgment.

This is really a discussion? Really?
My faith in some people's common sense is restored by the fact that so few are commenting on it.

Liberals can be quite vile when they outnumber someone. I have no doubt that these uglies did harass the Beck family.

God, I know this to be a waste of time but the discussion of Is America Exceptional and the fact that several countries in Europe are doing so much better than we are due to increased regulation is here: http://www.am760.net/cc-common/podcast/single_page.html?more_page=&podcast=davidsirota&selected_podcast=Wednesday%25206-29%2520Hour%25201.mp3
But then, Sirota is just another propagandist I guess. Facts be damned.
We could have such good conversations if you people had any facts at hand at all. Any at all.
BTW, did you know that the Brits handed out to every British citizen stock in the banks as compensation for bailing out the banks? Now that's what I call justice. Of course, we're the greatest country on earth. Let's take freedom and justice for all out of our Pledge. Better yet, dump the pledge or rewrite it: I pledge allegiance to the united corporations of america.

I feel stupider just reading about beck.

Hmmm... - I ventured across this piece about this incident; I found the rest of the story.
"The Daily Gut - On Tolerance
by Greg Gutfeld
So, on Tuesday, Glenn Beck talked about how he and his family were harassed while catching an outdoor movie in Manhattan’s Bryant Park.
Now, Glenn gets upset, a lot.
So you never know how much is theater.
But then Lindsey Piscatell wrote a letter, saying she was seated behind him.
Some excerpts.
…while the crowd was certainly not *thrilled* that he had shown up, his family was left completely alone, and for the most part, he was too. Conversely, it was his security detail…that seemed to be unnecessarily prickly with the crowd, scolding myself and my friends for acrobatics and other harmless activities…
Acrobatics?
Everyone does that before a movie, right?
She goes on:
It was my friend that spilled the… wine…and I can assure you that it was a complete accident. A happy one, to be sure, but nonetheless a complete and utter accident. As soon as the wine spilled …apologies were made and my friends pretty much scrambled to give … napkins..”.
Of course.
So I contacted this Lindsey person, via email to follow up, but she never got back to me.
I wanted to ask her why, in her letter, she doesn’t mention her tweet.
You know – the one where she wrote “F*cking a**hole glen beck is sitting next to me….get the f*ck out of my city.”
And what of the tweet from a friend, suggesting Lindsey spill wine on Beck, “accidentally.”
Yeah, a coincidence.
Now, Lindsey’s letter showed up all over (as well as the creepy pics she took of Beck’s family), without scrutiny.
But why should there be? it was beck.
Which gets to my main point:
Bullying is cowardice exploiting opportunity.
Lindsey went after Beck because she knew she could.
She’s safe, among a mob. The bully need not a spine to toss the wine.
And that wine – wasn’t spilled. it was projected.
Finally, Lindsey hides behind the coward’s cloak: tolerance – claiming she’s really accepting, as long as you agree with her.
But, if you really think this is the way “New Yorkers” act — targeting someone because they’re different– you aren’t a new Yorker.
You’re a fascist.
Or from Philly.
And if you disagree with me, you’re worse than Hitler.
** Update: Gawker did a followup on this story after lamely attempting to debunk Beck’s story. They happily glossed over the incriminating tweets; and when forced to acknowledge them, did exactly what I predicted the night before: they played it off as a mere coincidence.
It makes you wonder: if someone had tweeted that they were going to toss wine all over Rachel Maddow, and then it happened, would Gawker assume that would be a coincidence too?
Of course, they’re not blinded by ideology, are they?"
OK, I'll save the usual suspects some keystrokes - yeah, this Gutfeld must be a liar, since he contradicts the version of this occurrence from the left wing blogosphere and MSNBC (you know the gulag network). LMAO !
