Sarah

Well put, Michael "the real world of radio doesn't have tenure" is such a true and well stated axiom. Dude you need to move on, move on little doggie move on. Hahaha

Andrew

If I were a weather professor who wanted to take time on the air during 'weekday' to talk about the UW, I'd ask the host if they could pencil it in as a topic for which I'd be the guest, and then I might have 20 minutes plus to talk about how the local govt. is destroying education, and they might even bring in a second guest who disagrees with my viewpoint to make for a more enlightening debate. And since I'd have had long standing good will with the host, I would expect some genuine consideration. That would be the proper procedure, you know, just in case this was a mystery to anybody.

214 pounds of shit in a 142 pound bag.

JimF

Cliff Mass needs to take it to the next level! File a lawsuit against KUOW!

Cliff M. Ass

Him expecting the host to be fired is as absurd as thinking KIRO would fire Jane Shannon & Gregg Herscholt for having their tiff exposed on Blatherwatch. Long-standing hosts ain't gonna be canned, my friend.

JimF

There was never any tiff, but...never mind.

Hey, KTTH has a sports department! They are broadcasting the NBA Finals! Who knew???

(Actually they had their ass in a sling---KIRO AM is, of course, obligated to carry the Mariners---but as an ESPN affiliate, they are also obligated to carry high-profile ESPN Radio coverage---so they just shlep it onto KTTH.)

Minkie

Sounds like win/win for Bonneville...

gemini

He's got bupkis for a lawsuit. He was fired for cause... oh, that's right- he had no contract because he wasn't getting paid.

OSK

Hey JimF. Did you hear the big announcement on 710 today? They gleefully revealed that KTTH will be carrying all the WSU Football and Basketball games. With the Huskies on KJR and the Storm now on KPTK, is there the possbility of all 4 (or at least 3 since the Storm plays a shorter season) broadcasting a game at the same time? Who says Seattle is a sports wasteland? Not on our radios!

JimF

He could file for mental anguish?

Cliff Mass

Michael,
I really appreciate your advice, I truly do. But you have the facts wrong and you don't seem to understand my motivations. If you really want the facts, give me a call...your appreciative friend, cliff mass

Cliff, on a related note, you can't expect to get your job back after trash talking KUOW. There is no tenure in radio--let it go.

Cliff Mass

Coiler,
I have a job..UW professor. This was a volunteer gig and I can do that on other radio stations, if need be. Or my blog. This is about principles..about the values of a public radio station run under the control of my real employer..the UW...cliff

KS

Sounds like he has let it go.

Coils has become the blog thought police - go visit Venezuela or Cuba and let us know how you like totalitarian dictatorships that are filled with thought police.

Coiler

Ok KS. I get to have an opinion. You're a fine one to mouth off about geo politics.

Coiler

If you have a job cliff, move on. Principles mean nothing if Steve Scher is not allowed to exercise his once in a while.

BlackRhino

Professor Mass, I trust you are well. Where will you be heard in the future?

Listener

Describing KUOW as being "under the control" of the UW is inaccurate. UW owns the FM license, but UW isn't involved in the operations of the station. Mr. Mass doesn't seem to get this basic point.

KS

Principles mean nothing if Steve Scher is not allowed to exercise his once in a while.

WTF ? Principles always mean something. Saul Alinsky would have said what you just did.

      Games and sports-blabber
    • KIROFM 97.3
Multi-format: news and nearly all local talk. This is where classic KIRO AM news talk radio went... hopefully, not to die. The home of Dave Ross & Luke Burbank, Dori Monson, Ron & Don, Frank Shiers, Bill Radke, Linda Thomas, Tony Miner and George Noory.
    • KUOW FM 94.9
Seattle's foremost public radio news and talk.
    • KVI am 570 KHz
Visit the burnt-out husk of one of the seminal right-wing talkers in all the land. Here's where once trilled the reactionary tones of Rush Limbaugh, John Carlson, Kirby Wilbur, Mike Siegel, Peter Weissbach, Floyd Brown, Dinky Donkey, and Bryan Suits. Now it's Top 40 hits from the '60's & '70's aimed at that diminishing crowd who still remembers them and can still hear.
    • KTTH am 770 KHz
Right wing home of local, and a whole bunch of syndicated righties such as Glennn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Lars Larsony, and for an hour a day: live & local David Boze.
    • KPTK am 1090 KHz
Syndicated liberal talk. Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes, Norman Goldman fill in the large hole to the left on Northwest radio dial.
    • KLFE AM 1590 kHz
Syndicated right-wing 2nd stringers like Mark Levin, Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller and Hugh Hewitt inhabit this timid-voiced neighbor honker for your radio enjoyment (unless you're behind something large like Costco).
    • KOMOAM
News, traffic, Ken Schram and John Carlson.
    • Washington State Radio Stations
Comprehensive list of every danged AM & FM station on the dial.
    • KKOL am 1300 KHz
