Puget Sound Blathers

Tapping the tribes for money may be your answer but it is not everyone's. I think Joanie's question stands.

Posted by: The Anti-Dori | May 27, 2011 at 04:15 PM

Anti Dori, why is it that Washington State is the ONLY state not to have the tribal gambling interests pay their fair share. Moreover, they had the offer on the table agreeing to pay us up to $140 million per year.

I'm just asking.

The Anti-Dori

I'd like the rich to pay their fair share. Why aren't you on board with that?

We are not all the other states. Do we have to be? I appreciate that we have integrity. Don't you?

ProgBlogJunky

"And to the Queen (and PS by default), how would you all suggest they fund education better without revenue?"

Joanie showing her ignorance here. The revenues are out there. Its just being redirected. Check your local police stats. It might surprise you to find that tickets issued have increased by over 30% in the last 3-5 years. So if someone is paying money for a speeding, seatbelt, or talking on a cell phone ticket, then that means they are not spending it on goods that raise revenues.

Safety? Sounds good right. Well how about when it affects the children Joanie. A guy going 70 in a 50 or no funding for schools. A guy not wearing his seatbelt or no new books. A guy talking on a cell phone or a hungry child. Take your pick Joanie. It appears we cant have both.

Puget Sound Blathers

integrity? that's interesting. any chance that it could be campaign donations instead?

anti dori, you either have to cut the budget or increase revenue.
which budget item would you cut, anti-dori? we don't have a state income tax, rather we rely on sales tax. i would immediately sell off the state liquor monopoly. why the state is involved in that is ridiculous. sell it off, you'll still make money off the liquor taxes, and not be paying associated costs.
although i part ways on some of my brethren here, non confiscatory estate taxes are a reasonable approach that i would support.

okay anti-dori, let's see what you bring to the table.

The Anti-Dori

You've changed the subject. We aren't talking about integrity. I used "integrity" as my reason for not wanting to further penalize the First People. I don't understand your comment about "donations" since I don't get any.

I have been clear at least twice now: the rich need to pay their fair share. Almost fifty percent of the wealth of the country is in their hands. What do you expect when you give all the money to a few people?

And I think rewriting corporate tax laws would do a better job of actually collecting the taxes on profits.

Didn't citizens vote down the attempts to privatize liquor sales? A liquor store on every corner as I recall. Do you think Gregoire is a dictator?

I'm a patient person but you are being unusually dense this evening.

Rat_Bastard

The problem with teachers and parents is that over the years...
Teachers have become "social engineers" with a Liberal agenda and parents have decided that they want less of a role in parenting and more if a role in their own entertainment.
So the kids let stuck in the middle.
Parents want to dump the responsibility with the teachers...
This gives the teachers more power and they use it in the most disgusting of ways...
They create little puppets with no critical thinking skills...
Just the acceptance of the government making decisions for them.
This only makes for more people growing up and going into a work force where unions are needed to make sure they have jobs regardless of whether they have any skills.
Perfect if we want more teachers and school administrators.

sparky

Ya I really miss teaching my anarchist class, but there just isn't time with all that testing.

Coiler

"Parents want to dump the responsibility with the teachers"... Yeah, why is that? Do parents need more responsibility with birth control?

sparky

This is from a letter to the editor of the Gratiot County Herald, written by a local school superintendent in a small town in Michigan, to Gov. Rick Synder:

"Consider the life of a Michigan prisoner. They get three square meals a day. Access to free health care. Internet. Cable television. Access to a library. A weight room. Computer lab. They can earn a degree. A roof over their heads. Clothing. Everything we just listed we DO NOT provide to our school children.

This is why I’m proposing to make my school a prison. The State of Michigan spends annually somewhere between $30,000 and $40,000 per prisoner, yet we are struggling to provide schools with $7,000 per student. I guess we need to treat our students like they are prisoners, with equal funding. Please give my students three meals a day. Please give my children access to free health care. Please provide my school district Internet access and computers. Please put books in my library. Please give my students a weight room so we can be big and strong. We provide all of these things to prisoners because they have constitutional rights. What about the rights of youth, our future?"

Puget Sound Blathers

anti dori
pretty obvious you're the one doing the side stepping here.
lets just end our dialogue before you embarrass yourself further.
maybe next time you can step up a bit and engage in facts instead of playing dense.

ProgBlogJunky

Rights of youth. Where did this guy get his education. A cracker jack box. I wonder if he also proposes to keep them locked up 23 hours a day in a 3X5 cubicle Sparky.

But put that and what i said and you will see the problem. The fines and fees pay for the prisons. That is why they always keep making more reason to fine us citizens and raisng them fines to keep up with the costs. And even though they have figured out that fines and jail time do not always work in correcting behavioral issues, what do they do, require other costs. Ankle bracelets. Interlocks. Drug testing. All paid by who, not the state but the individual and that again leads to less local revenue which leads right to why you just lost 4% of your pay. So pat yourself on the back again Sparky. You only got yourself to blame.

joanie

Well, a point for the Anti-D. At least, Anti-D, you got a response. Usually he just goes away when he can't rebut.

Give up, Sparky. It's more fun to blast them than try to reason with them. But the tide is turning because there really are more of us than there are of them. And even the idiots on the tea party side and the so-called "conservative" side have kids and parents. They are waking up. Now, we need to clear out Congress and get some good Progressives in there. I saw it happen in Canada. Yes, they still have a conservative government, but like all conservatives, Harper will wear out his welcome with his fringe supporters and it will be New Democrats all the way.

That's what we progressives will do in this country. Because people like the vacuous Sound and the klueless KS will be in the minority again. Rat Bastard, too. You've named yourself well, bastard. But you won't be so happy calling yourself rat bastard when everything thinks you really are one.

Coiler

I don't believe it's Puget, he said he wouldn't be back. I have to honor that

sparky

I knew you would like that one PBJ.

joanie

You know what I like best about Friday nights? The replay of Thom Hartmann which starts in twenty minutes. Then to BB in the morning. Wanted to go tonight but didn't leave school till ten and had to move half the classroom into the back.

God I hate taking all that work with me!

Sixteen (seventeen?) days for us, Sparky. Then, the two weeks (for me) unpaid while it clean my classroom so the custodians can clean it again. They won't clean anything that's dirty.

KS

Joanie takes the cake for ignorance - the progressives have raped the freedoms of this country with their asanine "living constitution". That concept is nothing more than Intellectual dishonesty.

It's time to draw battle lines against progressives and speak out about their continuous corruption and lies and then encourage them to go back to their homeland of the former USSR - now Russia, where they can wave their hammer and sickle freely and speak of their true aspirations instead of use political correctness to try and mask it. Joanie's "New Democrats" are really old marxists, like her reptilian sister Pelosi, Barney Frank, Sheila Jackson Lee and Maxine Waters - all of the leftwing progressive wackos who really belong in a mental institution.

Go ahead and believe that the Tea Party is dead - the joke will be on you. It has become more covert, like the CIA and is working behind the scenes. But don't believe me, I am just BS'ing you about that - whatever lifts up your skirt. Finally, in honor of your wretched comments - Beauty is skin deep, but ugly goes clear to the bone - that fits you and your reptilian sister, Nancy P. to a tee.

joanie

And having read that idiotic response, I shall take myself to slumberland giggling mightily. You, KS, should read a history book some day.

Puget Sound Blathers

I don't believe it's Puget, he said he wouldn't be back. I have to honor that

hey coils, easy to find out. send bla'm an email. he'll lay it out for you.

you seem to have an issue with the custodial staff. i recall the time they kicked you out of your classroom cause they needed to clean it and you refused to leave. lmao

working late or on weekends is a common theme for most professionals. either stop the whining or get a new job. there will be further teacher cuts in 2011 and another teacher will gladly take your place.

Puget Sound Blathers

For the record, nobody voted for Gregoire. We all voted against Rossi.

Posted by: Andrew | May 26, 2011 at 06:55 AM

no doubt one of the most damning things you can say about gov gregoire.
this is a democratic party state. and the best candidate you can come up with is that?
then voters deserve exactly what they get with such a low caliber candidate.

ProgBlogJunky

Yes Sparky. Just surprised you didnt see how absurd it really was before posting it. Again you fail to see that "rough in the Diamond".

ProgBlogJunky

KS you forgot Wiener.

KS

You, KS, should read a history book some day.

Posted by: joanie | May 28, 2011 at 12:04 AM

I am currently reading one; "The politically incorrect guide on US History" by Dr. Thomas Woods. It's available at Costco and recommended reading for all.

What's your excuse for blind historical ignorance besides the vile desire to be a history revisionist ?

KS

KS you forgot Wiener.

Posted by: ProgBlogJunky | May 28, 2011 at 08:41 AM

Anthony Wiener is bad also. I also forgot up-Chuck Schummer and Sen. "Turban" Durban and countless other progressive Democratics.

joanie

I voted against Rossi and for Gregoire. I would do it again.

I wonder when the Roger Ailes' Sound-bite will become a paragraph and possibly - just possibly - a whole page of real adult discourse

"I remember when the custodial staff..." Oh, were you there? Tell me about it.

KS

Roger Ailes ? Is he the counter to your godfather, George Soros ? That must be it.

Show us some of Ailes's sound bytes - otherwise, I'd say you are making it up from the Rolling Stone.

KS

Ya I really miss teaching my anarchist class, but there just isn't time with all that testing.

Posted by: sparky | May 27, 2011 at 09:34 PM

Aren't you given the material to teach through the administration, which is directed by the WEA/NEA ? you are only too happy to teach it and throw in your own leftwing political ideology. The history books have been revised to show history depicting conservatives as evil and stupid and liberals are enlightened and smart - subtle changes of course - the way the NEA wants it. Lift up Islam and defile Christianity - that stuff has happened for the last 10 years. A lot of this is reinforced in universites and colleges - a sad commentary on the state of our education system - it is badly broken, but no will to fix it. Educating tomorrow's leaders ? SAD.

Call it an organized conspiracy if you'd like - there was some big behind the scenes planning that went into it. I have seen some high school history books used by my nephew and things have changed for the worse. It might have helped if you had taught about anarchists and their plight - to show your students that it has no socially redeeeming values. What effect will this all have ? You be the judge - Time will tell.

Puget Sound Blathers

"I remember when the custodial staff..." Oh, were you there? Tell me about it.

Posted by: joanie | May 28, 2011 at 10:29 AM

oh joanie, you bitched about that before awhile back. it came off as whining then and even more so now.

ProgBlogJunky

"I voted against Rossi and for Gregoire. I would do it again."

Posted by Alpha.

Even knowing that funding for schools will get cut and the State will be in a 5 billion dollar deficit Alpha shows her ignorance again. Whats that saying about insanity...?

Coiler

I'll bet that half of the Tea-Publican trolls leaving comments here could have cared less what teachers made 10 years ago.

joanie

They are mostly men who think they are entitled to big paychecks for bean counting and RV sales.

Still waiting for the cut and paste of Sound-bites own words wherein he "laid out strategies ..." Couldn't find it, Sound-bite?
