This petition from Credo Action (what a great idea!)
If you want to hear Glenn Beck's violent, paranoid rants, tune in every weekday from 6 am to 9 am on Seattle's KTTH AM 770 - or the 8 other radio stations in Washington that broadcast Beck.
Maybe that's one of the places that Charlie Wilson, who was arrested last year for making death threats to Sen. Patty Murray, heard Beck. Wilson's family credits Beck's rhetoric as being the driving force behind Wilson's actions.1
Beck's radio show is dangerous, inflammatory and irresponsible. And it doesn't belong on Seattle's airwaves.
Tell KTTH AM 770: Don't broadcast Glenn Beck's dangerous rhetoric.
More and more people are starting to realize that Beck is reckless, too extreme to be broadcast on our airwaves - airwaves owned by the people, and leased to radio stations for the public good.
Beck's television ratings have dropped in the last year,2 and in the last few weeks Beck's radio show has been dropped by two major stations in New York and Philadelphia.3
In that same time, Beck has been ramping up his lies and rhetoric about Frances Fox Piven, the 78 year old Professor and civil rights activist that Beck has falsely accused of advocating violence. Even after numerous death threats to Piven were posted on Beck's website, he has refused to back off.4
Beck's program is another tragedy waiting to happen. And the larger the audience of people who can be exposed to his violent, paranoid, anti-semitic, hate-mongering, the more dangerous it is. Let's do our best to make Seattle's airwaves Beck-free.
Tell KTTH: Beck's dangerous rhetoric doesn't belong on Seattle's airwaves.

I feel so sorry for the poor little Mormons.
After years of being vilified for having multiple wives and for their 'No Niggers in Church' policy, they finally start to gain a little respectability. They even get a handsome douche who might be a presidential candidate.
But, lo and behold, the man who turns out to be the most famous Mormon in the history of their idiotic cult turns out to be a stark, raving lunatic.
Good going, Mor-muns!

Progressive liberal Media Matters is your source? You gotta be kidding Mr. Hood. You can't do better than that? There must be other "liberal" sources. You're just as bad as Beck, per your opinion, but on the other side of the fence. We all know your bias, but this is comical.
Posted by: Republicrat | March 01, 2011 at 08:08 AM
Censor what you don't like? Nope. Just don't listen. I'm disappointed by this.
Posted by: Emile | March 01, 2011 at 08:39 AM
I, of course, will write a letter expressing full support and appreciation for the opportunity to listen to Beck on KTTH.
Thank goodness ratings influence who is on the air rather than the ass holes at Credo Action that don't like a program and thus don't want others to have access to it.
Posted by: Right Leaning and Right | March 01, 2011 at 11:13 AM
Republicrat: what's the problem with "biased" sources? Every information outlet has bias of one sort or another; it doesn't change whether any particular piece of information is correct (or cited in context) or not. If you think any of Credo's (it's not Media Matters that originated this) assertions are wrong, specify them.
Given the ratings, it seems to me that Seattleites have already said pretty clearly they're not interested in Beck on KTTH. But I gotta say, there are thousands of petitions on the web urging people to boycott or censor this or that. Not sure what makes this one post-worthy. Twice.

Can't help you with that one...
I like Glenn Beck's radio show as well as his TV show.
As far as Beck being the spark that fuels violence...
He constantly goes out of his way to tell the Tea Party members and all of his viewers and listeners that "violence is not the answer to any of the problems our country faces."
I've been a regular listener of Beck's since his show took over from the Sytman and Bose show on KTTH and he is taken out of context by liberals more than any other voice I've heard.
Beck uses humor often and he gets jumped on by those who will do anything to discredit him.
I like "Right Leaning and Right's" idea...
I may have to e-mail KTTH as well.

Better yet, have someone list his sponsors and let us contact them.
I'd do it but there's no way I could listen to the raving lunatic for 3 minutes, let alone 3 hours.

I predict this post will work to get Beck off the air about as well as all of the Blather posts to get rid of Dori Monson.
Dangerous rhetoric ? Make me laugh... Rat B has it correct. Hood must be a FOG (Friend of George) Soros with the repeatedly Media Matters references. Sorosand his henchmen have gone to Fox and asked them several times to silence Beck and take him off TV.

Bla'M!! You're a friend of George??? Come on..you've been holding out on me. Hit him up for some bucks--Ihave that SPU Admin. Certificate student loan to pay off!

All is not lost when there are some reasonable people still occupying the North American continent.
Regulators Reject Proposal That Would Bring Fox-Style News to Canada
The reason: Canada regulators announced last week they would reject efforts by Canada's right wing Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, to repeal a law that forbids lying on broadcast news.
Canada's Radio Act requires that "a licenser may not broadcast....any false or misleading news." The provision has kept Fox News and right wing talk radio out of Canada and helped make Canada a model for liberal democracy and freedom. As a result of that law, Canadians enjoy high quality news coverage including the kind of foreign affairs and investigative journalism that flourished in this country before Ronald Reagan abolished the "Fairness Doctrine" in 1987. Political dialogue in Canada is marked by civility, modesty, honesty, collegiality, and idealism that have pretty much disappeared on the U.S. airwaves. When Stephen Harper moved to abolish anti-lying provision of the Radio Act, Canadians rose up to oppose him fearing that their tradition of honest non partisan news would be replaced by the toxic, overtly partisan, biased and dishonest news coverage familiar to American citizens who listen to Fox News and talk radio.
Golly gee. This must be another liberal conspiracy. After all, the article was written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. So, it must be wrong. I'm sure Canada didn't really reject a fixed-news format and this is all one big fiction dreamed up by Kennedy.
Right, Geniuses. The unfortunate part is that you're too dumb to know what you do. And you will be too dumb to take any responsibility when some nut - someone nuttier than you - targets Piven and we have another Gabby event.
You guys sound like a bunch of fifties D- greasers smoking in the parking lot chuckling about your next game of chicken instead of actually learning anything in school. Imbeciles.
Oh, BTW, it is not name calling when the names are accurate.

The Mormons are an evil cult. I just got through watching a real life trial on TruTV, where a lawyer and his wife turned to a Mormon Church-run "tough love " boot camp type orgainzation that has various facilities where problem, rebellious teens are sent by their parents to be "broken", backed up by court orders. They can even be kept on these hellholes past the age of 18 with a court order. These parents sent their teen son to the camp these bastards run in Western Samoa. I believe this is probably their most severe place since unlike their U.S. facilities the camp administrators can get away with things not permitted by U.S. law. This teen adopted son of theirs was hogtied, humiliated , forced to live without running water, isolated on a blazing tropical beach in a "timeout" hot box, on and on. The guy hated his parents so much for sending him into the cutches of these od these sick, sadistic Mormon bastards that once he got home in the U.S., he hired a hit man to kill his parents. The shows featured interviews with various former graduates of this hellhole, and other places run by this boot camp group who have serious PTSD from their time there.

Sparky, is this what you meant by your request for people to stop the name calling?
Posted by: Stephanie-----for Sparky! | March 02, 2011 at 04:47 AM
Sparky is not my mother. If you have something to say, say it to me or don't say it. You're an imbecile, too.

I'm pretty easy going on the language thing.
Name calling, swearing...
It's no big deal to me in general, and quite often funny, but did Chuck really just use the "C word"?
There's a few words that never seem quite right...
That's definitely one of 'em.
Come on, Chuck... Get it together.
Posted by: Rat_Bastard | March 02, 2011 at 07:20 AM
How would an imbecile know?
Posted by: joanie | March 02, 2011 at 07:22 AM
Last comment not meant for you, Bastard.
Posted by: joanie | March 02, 2011 at 07:25 AM
It is surprising that so many commentors here have no problem with using the same kind of hate speech that they accuse Beck of using. Its apparently OK to criticize Beck for its inaccurate and hateful statements about others, but its apparently OK to make hateful and inaccurate statements about Mormons.
Now I'm in a dilemma about whether or not to sign this petition. Do I sign and hopefully get someone off the air who I think does not help resolve problems? Or do I not sign because I can't support this kind of hateful language?
Posted by: Kent Larsen | March 02, 2011 at 07:48 AM
No confusion Joanie, I figured that comment wasn't for me...
I just hope that Chuck doesn't kiss his dog with that mouth.
And Kent, go ahead and sign the petition if you don't like Beck being on the air here.
I e-mailed KTTH last night to say how much I like his show.
It's the free market at work.

All name calling, regardless of its intensity, is derogatory and inflammatory. It actually weakens your argument when you have to resort to it to make your point.
Posted by: Radio Queen | March 02, 2011 at 02:23 PM
Radio Queen:
You are correct. Posters like Joanie (a school teacher!) demean the entire profession with her inability to argue/debate in a cogent fashion with Chuck.
Chuck, you have the street savy and good manners to make a better impression then to use such an ugly name. Even if Joanie makes untoward comments about your wife.
Sparky, I want to help you clean up this blog. Will you help me challenge them to stop the name calling and become part of the solution instead of the problem.
Joanie, will you take the no name call challenge?
Chuck, will you take the no name call challenge?

Now I can quote no more authoritive voice than Joanie on this blog.
The new Blatherwatch credo: If it is true, it ain't namecalling.
So I guess this gets Chuck off the hook.

The problem with liberals is that they claim to fight for "equal rights" and "for the people". They like to sing songs about love and peace and preach can't we "Coexist?" and yet when it comes time for people who have opposing thoughts to speak, they are incredibly INTOLERANT and unlike conservatives believe that shouting verbal attacks in your face and taking someone off the air is the way to win an argument.
You don't hear conservatives plotting to take away your beloved NPR or MSNBC do ya?
This is America and freedom of speech is a cornerstone of our Republic...why do you want to take that away???
