As you know, we at BlatherWatch have lived vicariously through the "professional" life of David "Goldy" Goldstein, blogger, erstwhile radio talker, and political activist.
In the latest installment, Goldy has realized one of our dreams: he's landed a job as a full-time staffer on a print publication! (As everyone knows, print is the future of publishing).
The Stranger will give me a larger audience and a steady (if relatively modest) paycheck, plus, after years of toiling under the mixed blessings of my “Horse’s Ass” brand, I’m probably the only political writer in Washington state for whom the Stranger’s masthead would provide a boost in credibility.
Congratulations to Goldy...he now must make the painful and abrupt change from sitting at home typing in his underwear to a busy newsroom of a weekly publication.
He's conflicted to say the least:
There’s a part of me that regrets giving up one of the best-read, independent state blogs in the nation to take an MSM job, but in spirit, you can’t get any less mainstream than the Stranger, and I mean, fuck… a newspaper job in this crappy, imploding newspaper market? How could I possibly turn down the opportunity? I’d have to be crazy.
Congratulations, Goldy. I used to hammer away at you about education on HA. Can you guess my long-probably-forgotten blog name? It was a county up north.
I think you're a great writer and wish you all the luck in the world. Why did it take them so long?

Yes, Congrats.

I hope they're paying him more than Erica Barnett, who wound up shoplifting wine to make ends meet.
Stock up on hand sanitizer too, Goldy. It's the cold and flu season right now.

very cool! I LOVE Goldy's viewpoints and analysis, and reading them will be excellent. Let's face it, though, the Man is not a radio personality, and listening to his stint on KIRO was painful, if not educational. So, good luck at The Stranger (Seattle's best newspaper by far). This will give Goldy a great platform for his reporting and insight.

Congrats to The Stranger for winning the allegiance of one of Washington's best political writers! What sweetened the seduction?
