There used to be ideological differences [between D's and R's] that were understandable, and there used to be moderate Republicans. That has gone away. The Republican Party is now just a bunch of religious lunatics, flat-earthers and Civil War reenactors.
“There really isn’t extremism on both sides [of the political spectrum]. That’s a canard.” The left, he says, "moved to the center, and the right moved into a mental institution."

Andrew - what planet do you live on ? Stop misrepresenting other's points of view - its insulting and dishonest.
Keep thinking you are in the majority at your own peril. All I ask for is an honest and intelligent discussion, which is very unlikely with you. If you want case and points, I would be glad to supply them.
Posted by: KS | October 09, 2010 at 04:42 PM
nice try andrew, but saying there is no substance is a whole lot different than providing evidence.
i can easily provide evidence of your sloppy thinking. you regularly argue using baseless claims of racial animus by conservatives or straw man arguments.
both of which will get you bounced out of any credible logic 101 class.
so i will decline your offer to go to another blog.

hey ks
i see andrew is careering down that dark road to dementia that ph(j)oanie has traveled. a place we call 'Kook-ville' population 3: ph(J)oanie, Coils, and M Steele.
Andrew, i said 'may' beat obama in 2008.
but don't believe me about this november. in fact, you should probably not bother to vote since it is so in the bag for democrats.

The lib progs believe this blog is their bastion because they are more in numbers (or at least more different poster names). However, they have shown to be collectively lame in their arguments and specialize in ad hominem attacks abound in red herrings and straw men, but lacking in sound evidence.
Where is tres assholes when you need him ?

"specialize in ad hominem attacks"...
you're being ironic, right?
Posted by: sparky | October 09, 2010 at 07:34 PM
Nope, see for yourself - the following are just two examples-
1) The Republicans want to deny health care to the vulnerable, those with pre-existing conditions and the poor.
The Nazis used the lie that Poland was preparing to attack them to launch blitzkrieg on the Polish Nation.
The Republicans used the lie of weapons of mass destruction to attack Iraq.
The Nazis used Joseph Goebbels “Big Lie” and Hans Hinkel’s propaganda to advance their agenda.
The Republicans use Fox News, Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck to spread their lies. (saintrudy)
2) There's no substance in your post, and it's plain for all to see. You've lost. You should spend more time on a blog with posters who already agree with you. You'll do better there. (andrew)
I know it pains you to realize and admit that your cohorts are doing the ad hominem, without substance at a high frequency. It happens every day. Not saying that PS, chucks, OIABM or other contrarians don't do it, but we cannot match the usual suspects in this vacuous category.

KS accused someone else of making ad hominem attacks? Holy shit, that is funny.
KS won't defend his heartless politics. Remember the guy whos house burned down because he didn't pay the $75? In KS' utopia, the news wouldn't be about one person losing their house to an unextinguished fire, it would be about the many hundreds of familaies across the country lost their homes due to unextinguished fires - in a single day.
Don't believe people take stupid risks? Look at casinos. Look at the people conservatives put in office.

Maher bloviates to Bill O that the Democrats have moved to the center and the Republican are the only extremists and there are no extremists on the left.
Amazing - He lives in an alternate universe. To him, mainstream is being a liberal progressive and anything else is an extremist. Maher is an elitist and doesn't realize it, but he has become an extremist on the left himself along with scam artists like Michael Moore and Alan Grayson, (soon to be former US Rep), Reid and Pelosi. He has had too many bong hits and has smoked too much crack in Hollywierd to see that the drugs are talking instead of him. I used to think he was liberal, but sharp enough to promote half-way intelliigent debate on Politically Incorrect in the late 90's.
I predict that Maher will go into a giant kiniption fit as will the mainstream media (ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN) upon seeing the results of the Nov 2nd election - to which I'll say - You lack professionalism and stop acting like a spoiled 6-year old who didn't get their way - whiners ! they'll need to have your diapers changed too...

In keeping with the fine tradition of the usual suspects, Andrew whines and misrepresents.
Let's make a deal: When the 'usual suspects' stop telling lies about us we'll stop telling the truth about them.
Sounds like a fair deal, eh?

Andrew spewed:
"Anwser to the charge: how can you be a patriot while allowing less fortunate Americans to twist in the wind, especially children? Answer to it, or admit what you are."
Go to hell ! Because I am reviled at Obama-losi care, I am allowing less fortunate Americans to twist in the wind. That is an idiotic and baseless statement. I support repeal and replace Obama-losi care. All people are entitled to coverage, but why should there be any free lunches ? Subsidizing in worthy cases is acceptable. The proposed system is unconstitutional, fatally flawed, littered with special interest stench, will increase everyone's costs and is unacceptable.
Get out of your bubble, bubble boy..

Putz, I think Andy was correct about unrestrained free markets. You never answered if you agree, as far as in can tell. I have to admit I didn’t read the subsequent posts so forgive me if I’m asking you to repeat yourself.

I am happy to answer his question(s) but the problem with Andrew is that the ones he asks betray a fair amount of ignorance of the issue.
IF he can prepare a precise and cogent question, he'll get a reasoned and responsive answer.
So I await his question. If you can ferret it out among the straw, then post it.
(but I won't be able to answer until the morning as I am heading out the door)
Posted by: Puget Sound | October 09, 2010 at 08:52 PM
I think we know why he can’t answer. He and KS can respond with a personal quip or barb but to face their own cognitive dissonance, nope.

Why not address the issue? In may glimpse of the archives I did notice some of the posters you’ve acknowledged. Their posts and retorts did indeed expose your flaws. I think the most interesting detail is you guys have many, many detractors.

I just appreciate the chance to pick the brains(?) of these low information voters who cast their ballot for the likes of Hairdo Reichart or BIAW Rossi. Seattle is allegedly the most well read city in the nation, and yet once in a while we somehow send dimwitted one note Republicans like Dave Reichart to the other Washington, and we ask, who the hell actually voted for that guy? Behold. We've located the problem, and they're taking questions (though, not necessarily providing answers).

Grasping at straws again, eh ? Andrew has clearly defined himself as a low information voter by the content of the above comment. The alternatives to Reichert and Rossi (just 2 examples) are worse because they are status quo and part of the mounting problem.
Seattle being the most educated city does not point to it being the haven of most common sensical voters largely because they are so close minded - they think liberalism is the only answer. There is an direct correlation of most educated with most dimwitted or most insane in this case, otherwise they'd vote for change when it is sorely needed.

Why do people who make a career out of the exchange of knowledge overwhelmingly lean liberal?
Why do farmers in the midwest, who receive government subsidies, and various payment from the government to moderate their yields overwhelmingly claim to prefer a "hands off" government?
The fact of the matter is that conservatives arrive at their political conviction by only considering their own needs while liberals arrive at theirs through their concern for others, and this point has been demonstrated over and over again.
I'm still waiting for KS to explain how he can claim to care about his fellow Americans while advocating policies that would further decouple the governemnt from essential services, and in doing so, put millions of children in greater risk than they're in now.

Oh pleeez, are you referring to academia? What a patently absurd appeal to authority.
Lets follow Andrew's logic.
Those in the real world of business, law enforcement or the military tend to lean conservative.
Why is that Andrew?
Maybe, those who can't... teach?

he truly is a low information voter. he'll no doubt willingly pull the lever for a jim mcdermott in the finest tradition of a lemming headed for the cliff.
FORTUNATELY, the american people have woke up and we'll see some corrective action put in place to repeal and replace obama-care, the miracle of sunlight to clear out the cockroaches (we'll know what's in the bill AFTER we pass the bill), and fiscal restraints.

Saying "I would vote for Obamacare if weren't for pages 2386 and 14592 of the proposed bill" is a common Republican stall tactic. You say you want to help but you can't because there's some technical problem bullshit. If you really cared you'd be willing to take steps in the right direction and not act as a road block towards progress.

Earth to Andrew - the whole legislation is a pile of excrement. kapish ? It is fatally flawed, unconstitutional and needs to be defunded, then repealed and replaced after Obama is voted out in 2012 - and that will be a big albatross around his neck because he signed it into law. Until then, we have an existing medical care system that will continue, so stop your whining. Do us all a favor and research this topic before you respond because you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
Of course I don't expect that, rather I expect the same old tired and ignorant propaganda. If you really cared, you wouldn't spew the baseless bullshit that you do that is hypocritical...

KS, if I broke down your post to Andrew I’d find only one relevant portion. The rest was fluff and bluster. The relevant part is the unconstitutionally claim. But even this is sheer bullshit because if it were true someone would have taken it to the judiciary and won. Silly, silly human.
Posted by: BlackRhino | October 10, 2010 at 10:51 PM
BlackRhino said it. And your argument that it's unconstitutional (a talking point you've repeated, not an original thought you came up with) supports my argument that you exploit procedure and technicality in order to avoid helping innocent children who belong to under or non-insured families. It's a slimy tactic and you're a slimy person.
The fact that KS' posts are 95% profane shouting and 5% rehashed talking point should tell anyone everything they need to know about your typical Rossi/Reichart voter.

It's winding through the courts as we speak. A Clinton appointed Fed Judge recently upheld its constitutionality under a reading of the Commerce Clause. But we'll see how that argument works further up the line.
A key is whether the Federal Gov't can fine you if you fail to buy a product or service.

Andrew - How about responding with some facts ? So, tell me why is the current governor of West Virginia, who previously supported Obamacare, now says Nuke Obamacare ? Could it be because he found out what was in the bill ?
Andrew is a product of government schools - he has been successfully brainwashed and molded into someone incapable of critical thinking.

PS - Yup, sad and true. These people have zero common sense and worship the idol of big government, which can both give and take away. Even Barney Frank is being challenged for his seat in MA - hope he loses. People are starting to see the fakery and straw men that the liberals thrive on. They have the refuge of the statist media to cover for them more than ever before - that's why I like the alternate media.
Also, Saul Alinsky tactics are now also being used by conservatives to give the neo-Marxist left a dose of their own medicene. How dare they do such a thing ! the left was only supposed to do that.
Newsflash - It was reported that someone threw a book at Obama over the weekend at one of his stump speeches, but no one knows who yet. Just like the Iraqi who threw the shoe at Bushm, who ducked successfully...
Posted by: KS | October 11, 2010 at 09:36 AM
Even Barney Frank isn't safe given the title wave coming against the Dems.
What a rebuke.
I hope the Repub party understands that this isn't based off of any desire to return to the spending ways of the Bush Admin. And no more of the religious right, either.
This is a real rebuke.
Hey Usual Suspects, How's bagging on that Tea Party working for ya? Doesn't that Tea taste good!
LMAO.
Still waiting for Andrew to answer those salient questions posed by KS.
