Da-DUMMMMMMMMM.
The axe has fallen at KIRO's sporty 710-ESPN.
Program Director Owen Murphy has been fired. Its part of the revamping of the Bonneville cluster as everyone's been predicting.
Mike Seely at The Seattle Weekly has the story:
Murphy was promoted to that post this past November after having helped see the station through its conversion from news-talk to an all-sports format as assistant program director, a job he took in January 2009 after stints as both an on-air personality and producer in other parts of the country.
A source says: "Ryan Hatch, (Bonneville Operations Manager and iceman) who worked in sports talk, will apparently be hiring a new PD or assistant PD for that station (I'm assuming at a lower rate of pay)."
I guess I assumed you meant KIRO FM was going to see the changes..710 seems like someone else now.
Will he get picked up pretty easily by another station?

i really like kiro 710 sports. it's been kicking kjr 950 in the ass.
good to see some competition.

I still say that KIRO-FM would have been better for sports and KIRO-710AM for talk. 710-ESPN is probably getting more popular now - I like the Prof. Clayton and the Groz once in a while and Calabro (who is good at talk, but among the elite at play-by-play).
Ron & Don probably won't be going anywhere soon if they are #1 on KIRO-FM.

I'm really liking the Dave Ross + "guest of the week" thing. I'm dissapointed that that lady isn't still sitting in with Monson. I've been having to turn his show off immediately.

I alway turn Dori off immediately. With all these sports guys why is he still doing the Seahawks pregame. Sign me perplexed.

Let's face it. KIRO ESPN is an abject failure. Murphy should have gone long ago. Why can't a station that has virtually all the professional sports teams in town make it?

"Why can't a station that has virtually all the professional sports teams in town make it?"
Maybe because professional sports teams in Seattle aren't "making it".

there's hope folks! ross just gave Nicole Brodeur who has been sitting in with him this wek , the same billing he gave Luke as he went into break. This mean Luke doesnt have the gig as Dave's sidekick-yet. ok i guess Luke shouldn't have to go back to working at Dick's- i'll give him credit for having more to offer than that- but not much more than that.

Nicole Brodeur is a cheery do-do who says something or argues the fine points whether she knows shit about it or not. She just feels obligated to say something.
I'm depressed, is this to be an exercise of installing a dumb foil to Dave's smart? NPR's never been more boring. Do I have to migrate to podcasting and live streams? Been putting it off, but I think it might be time.

Hello radio forum of Seattle. Glad I found you. Even tho retired in AZ grew up and worked in Seattle are and listened to radio a lot. Nice to find you and you also do politics. This is good.

I say give Nicole some time. I found it to be good today. Maybe they are going to devolve into Robin and Maynard for old fucks. then again perhaps not.

Sarge, podcast this: http://www.am760.net/pages/DavidSirota.html
He's the best. He's spirited and does more than politics but not much. And he's not always nice.

like Dave, Brodeur is a buffoonishly extreme liberal, except even moreso. Her state of denial in regards to Obama's greenhorn incompetence really came out under Ross'es questioning today. She will support the guy until it is absolutely ridiculous for anyone of any party to support him- probably the whole "downtrodden black man" thing, which is vey big for lib white women of a certain age, like Nicole.

Yep, that pretty well says it about Nicole Brodeur. I miss listening to the Michael Savage stream of consciousness - too much vanilla talk radio in this market.

nicole brodeur will also be known for being one of the first to cross the picket line when her union was out on strike.
if you are not going to abide by a union, you shouldn't be in it. moreover, you shouldn't be getting all the goodies that the union provides you from prior collective bargaining representation.
Posted by: Puget Sound | September 09, 2010 at 02:51 AM
i forgot all about that union thing. now i know why i have such disdain for her- at some subconscious level i still knew about it. so her liberalism does have limits- whren it interferes wioh her selfish desires for monry. I'm pro-union all the way, so imagine how repulsive she is to me now.

Posted by: Timmy | September 09, 2010 at 08:41 AM
Kirov is a city in Armenia. And no, we can not be friends. you seem gay.
Posted by: Tommy008 | September 09, 2010 at 09:11 AM
That's not nice. So what if I am. I like you and the way you post stuff so I think you be my friend
Posted by: Timmy | September 09, 2010 at 09:15 AM
Cal Brown is repulsive to listen to , doing his slick little speech before the pardons board, that kiro haS BEEN PLAYING. mAY i suggest Bubba's prison cafeteria cheeseburgers for your last meal, you scumbucket? Good riddance, you evil turd.
Posted by: Tommy008 | September 09, 2010 at 10:05 AM
i hear an eascoast tweak in Brodeur's voice. Not Nyc or Jersey, farther south. Philly? Baltimore? Pittsburgh?
