KSPN/Los Angeles APD Brian Long has been named PD to replace Owen Murphy at Seattle's sports/talker KIROAM. He comes from KSPN in Los Angeles where he served as APD, hosted his own show and anchored pre-and post-game shows for USC and Lakers play-by-play.
According to NTS' Al Peterson:
Prior to joining ESPN Radio in 2007, Brian oversaw programming, production and strategic planning for Morris Desert Media in Palm Springs. He also held on-air and programming stints at KGEO and KERN/Bakersfield, CA. He began his Sports radio career working as a producer of athletic events at his hometown station KMBZ/Kansas City.
Wow, this really fucks my prediction that they will flip KIRO from sports! I still think it will happen if this clown doesn't perform.

How can anyone think of a 710 flip from sports with the Mariners and Seahawks contracts still having years to run?

CorporateBook/Suit has lots of opinions, and very little sense about radio. KIRO is doing just fine considering the quality of the teams lately and KJR. Give them a better Mariner's season and a great Seahawk team and things will be better. After all, they have a "blowtorch."

Not sure how you can say KIRO-AM is doing just fine, when the station just had the WORST summer ratings for baseball on any Seattle radio station in at least 20 years.

They're doing just slightly finer than KIRO-FM.

KIRO-AM probably had the worst summer ratings for baseball in Seattle in nearly 20 years because they had the worst Seattle baseball TEAM in over 20 years.

The team has been terrible for ten years but always drawn TV and radio numbers that were the envy of contenders in other markets.
It's only with the AM/FM flip and other recent developments that the radio numbers have tanked.
