I want to get back to the timing of the blowing up, the explosion out there in the Gulf of Mexico of this oil rig....Now, lest we forget, ladies and gentlemen, the carbon tax bill, cap and trade that was scheduled to be announced on Earth Day. I remember that. And then it was postponed for a couple of days later after Earth Day, and then of course immigration has now moved in front of it. But this bill, the cap-and-trade bill, was strongly criticized by hardcore environmentalist wackos because it supposedly allowed more offshore drilling and nuclear plants, nuclear plant investment. So, since they're sending SWAT teams down there, folks, since they're sending SWAT teams to inspect the other rigs, what better way to head off more oil drilling, nuclear plants, than by blowing up a rig? How do right-wing ops get their stuff onto allegedly straight news in Seattle? One way is to slip it to KOMO radio’s ultra-conservative news-reader Carleen Johnson.

Tuesday, in a news clip, KOMO news radio listeners heard wormy Fox News star, and Newsmax shaman Dick Morris declaring, “I think Dino Rossi’s gonna run and I think he’s gonna save this country.”

Morris claimed that R’s will win in 9 senate races across the country (including, dubiously, Barbara Boxer’s) then come to Washington to add No. 10 with perennial candidate Rossi. “It’s going to be the key race in the country. […] he’s the one who can defeat Murray.”

She’s back: NY’s tina nole

She produced for Dave Ross, Ron Reagan, Tom Douglas, Ron & Don and worked at KIRO for 8 years! Tina Nole is back in town and working as afternoon news editor at KOMO.

We’ve more or less kept up with her over the years as she left KIRO in 2007 to go to CBS Radio in NY. Then to the ill-fated Air America to produce the syndicated Ron Reagan and Ana Marie Cox shows. (At one point she asked if we thought AAR was good and solvent and we urged her join up. Oops).

Now she’s returned and doing the nooze at KOMO and competing with the execrable yet moronic Ron & Don (KIRO, m-f, 3-7p) her old bosses,  although who was the boss and whom were the bossed is questionable. Although KIRO got a bump this month, KOMO's kicking ass... R & D had better be watching their rear-view mirror
 
(And before you even start, even Tina's a friend of this blog, she's never (the bitch) been a insider source for us. Our discussions are usually about cheese or her damn dog. Not that we didn't try... but she's always been disgustingly professional).

We've been in Tampa, this week. It's one of the former professional (WFLA-AM) homes of Glenn Beck, and one influential to his Ascension. The food wasn't so great, but the hospitality was Southern- they even had a little tea party for BlatherWatch at the airport.

It was a great honor and this is an open thread.

Old Seattle Radio Saturday: little boyz clutching transistors late at night...

Memoirs from radio professionals and the nostalgia of boomer males we know, often begin with fond reminiscences of pre-pubescent boys clutching transistor radios in the middle of the night letting the world coming into an ear via the AM band. (Most of these little old boyz pubesced and found other things to clutch late at night... the rest went into the business).

Teabaggers = republicans

We’ve said it from day 1: teabaggers are just Republicans, and talk radio righties with tri-corny hats, and edgy signage designed to attract lens.

They've been there all along.

This was based on not only having attended that early, and sad Bellevue tea party last year, but having attended local Republican events for years like at Tom Stewart’s ranch; and KVI/KTTH promotional events back in the misty when-ness of radio promotional event budgets. (it seems so long ago...)
