You’d never know it from what Billo allowed on the teevee, but Stewart kicked his formidable fundament, and spoke well-spoken truth about Fox News on Fox News! It's well worth watching all 5 parts here.
STEWART: The way that you did it: you can't shoot conservative talk radio directly into the veins of the American people. Their heads would blow up. You can only have that in taxis and various places in people's homes. So what you've done is, you've taken a cyclonic, narrative-driven, news organ, you know, media arm of a political party, of a political wing, and you've sprinkled it. You've cut it with a little bit of objectiv--a little bit of Chris Wallace asking a tough question--a little bit.
O'REILLY: From 9 to 4, when Cavuto comes on, that's seven hours.
STEWART: Not even close. Not even close. Because they're also part of the journey.
O'REILLY: Who's part of the journey?
STEWART: The journey begins in the morning. It begins with the wide-eyed innocents of Fox and Friends. "Obama has czars. You know, I googled 'czars.' Did you know that's a Russian word? For a Russian leader?" Or they'll go through, "These children in second grade are singing the praises of Obama. Did you know they sing the praises of their leader... in North Korea?" And then when the hard news comes on, they'll go: "Some people are concerned that they're indoctrinating children!"
There's much, much, more.
Jon has this tremendous ability to run circles around these guys..he did the same thing to Tucker Carlson.
Billo just does not understand the intertubes...or he would never have allowed the edited parts to be posted online, where a 2nd grader could find them.

Jon is wrong about shutting down Gitmo and putting KSM on a civil trial. Like his monologues on Comedy Central but he is dead wrong about his perception of the war on terror - time may take care of his view after the next successful terrorist attack, that will happen in the next 3-6 months according the DHS.
Bill O had him as a guest and probably didn't care much one way or the other how Stewart's fans (predominantly leftwingers) perceived this being a contest. It was just an interview he is mainly interested in getting the ratings, which he did here once again. That's why the others are envious of him.
Posted by: KS | February 05, 2010 at 08:22 PM
What kind of American wishes for a terrorist attack just so they can say "I told you so"?
Posted by: sparky | February 05, 2010 at 08:27 PM
So Billo was off his game that night?
Posted by: Coiler | February 05, 2010 at 08:29 PM
Why are you misquoting me ? Are you really that obtuse, Sparkles ? I was just paraphrasing what the DHS said the other day. Get a grip !
Bill O may have been being a gracious host, but referred to Stewart as a pinhead and it seems like Stewart has an animosity toward Glenn Beck - hmmm.... Bill O was off his game when he interviewed Michael Moore back 2004 - didn't seem to affect his ratings though.
Posted by: KS | February 05, 2010 at 08:52 PM
O,really spent his time making assertions that were mostly cheap shots at Stewart. Stewart spent his time articulating reasoned arguments. Like his claim to live in a normal house instead of admitting that he is in a gated community for the uber wealthy.

Probably the same type that protests the war when Bush was President but is suddenly okay if it is a Dem leading the Country. But you knew that.
Pot meet kettle.
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 06, 2010 at 05:59 AM
That you equate protesting an illegal war with actually wishing harm on the country makes no sense. But that is something we all expect from you Putz.
Posted by: sparky | February 06, 2010 at 07:55 AM
if the war is so illegal, how come you are not still protesting it?
if your answer is that it is winding down...that's bs.
you used the war to score political points.
and of course, the 'we' is all the usual suspects you post under, eh? lmao the only one who doesn't get it is joanie.
btw, the interview with stewart was very good. i am a big john stewart fan.

Those who accuse others of wishing harm on this country had best have concrete evidence about it. Otherwise its hyperbole and the same as calling someone a racist without evidence. The screaming message is that you have run out of arguments. It is apparent that you don't want to understand and your political views are more important than putting this country first.
Posted by: KS | February 06, 2010 at 08:53 AM
Generally, it seemed like a good interview. Stewart is talented, but is every bit as much of an ideologue and maybe more so than O'Reilly is. They both volleyed some cheap shots at each other - that's part of political discourse these days.
I like the fact that Stewart is honest enough to distance himself from the Obama Administration on a number of issues and would call him a patriot for doing so.
Posted by: KS | February 06, 2010 at 08:58 AM
How do you know I am not still protesting it? Because I don't talk about it here? Is that your filter--that if I don't post every waking thought on Blatherwatch, then it doesn't exist??
Posted by: sparky | February 06, 2010 at 08:59 AM
O,really spent his time making assertions that were mostly cheap shots at Stewart.
Sounds like sputs, doesn't it?
Wish you'd listen to Jesse Hagopian on Dave Ross last Friday - first hour: Just returned from Haiti. He tells the story the media ignores: short interview
but compelling. You won't hear this on Fixed News.

I meant to post this. I think it speaks for most reasonable people:
WINTER OF AMERICA'S DISCONTENT
Voters Fed Up With Both Parties

Whoops! WINTER OF AMERICA'S DISCONTENT
Voters Fed Up With Both Parties
that's better
Posted by: joanie | February 06, 2010 at 09:26 AM
Hagopian is very accurate in what he describes. I never made it to Port-Au-Prince, not even within 20 miles, but where I did make it was still awful beyond description. People with exposed compound fractures, uncared for with horrendous infections as well as untreated gashes, etc.
No water, no food, no home, no medical and poverty like most of us had never seen.
Access was very difficult because of all of the buildings spread across the roads, but was doable.
I had hooked up with a group of Mormons from Salt Lake City.
Never in my life have I felt so inadequate because there is so much need.
I disagree with Hagopian on his whine about the American response. There were thousands of Americans, as well as many other nationalities on the ground by the time I left. It took many months to get the troops in place for the Gulf Wars. Calling the Navy, Marines and Air Force is not like calling Seattle Fire and getting a 7 minute response, fully equipped for any emergency in the city.
Anybody that says Obama and our military did a less then honorable job in responding to this tragedy is full of shit. Our troops, all of our nations volunteers and charity's are miracle workers, but not "magical". We may not have been able to do it all, but you can be damned certain that we are doing all that we can.
Posted by: chucks | February 06, 2010 at 10:49 AM
You almost had me, chux. Until the generalities about the awfulness turned into another defense of the American military.
You weren't there. You said nothing in this post.
Posted by: joanie | February 06, 2010 at 11:26 AM
You are right joanie. Can't get nothing past you. I wasn't in the Dominican Republic either. Neither was the military. They were a no show.
You are kind of a dumb old bitch. In no way do I feel obligated to share anything of substance with you as you will twist it to suit your own perverse ideas.
You can see everything I saw on YouTube and TeeVee. You will just never feel the pain or smell the smells.
Posted by: chucks | February 06, 2010 at 12:08 PM
joanie, why would chux lie about something like that. Don't be ridiculous. You should be proud of him and our Military, including the our US Marine CORPSE's (as our beloved POTUS would say). Wow, wouldn't Bush have taken a licken for that one.
Oh well, he still believes we have 57 states, doesn't he.
Bwahahahaha

He's a salesman. And you all celebrated his sojourn to Haiti so he had no choice but to fabricate. Listen to Hagopian if you want to hear authentic.
You, Duffman, and chux are equals in authenticity. No??
Always the salesman, chux.

Listening to Ring of fire, Bobby just said that his dad told him to justly question both sides. The question came up that perhaps democrats should show unwavering support for Obama like the right did for Bush and still does.
Papantonio said he was unsure, he feels both ways about it. Bobby spoke up and said his dad told him he had to have integrity and honesty. Defend what you believe and question, fight and try to right wrongs.
That's why I'm a liberal.
Also, just heard them succinctly rehashing the 2000 election: Constitution clearly lays the decision at the door of the state and Florida Supreme Court said count them all which would have meant a Gore win. Our five Republican justices (three replaced by again Republican-appointed Presidents) unjustly took power and undid the Florida ruling which was unConstitutional. I knew that.
But I've always heard it argued and wasn't really sure if they had the right to do that or not. What I didn't know was that when O'Connor and crew made that decision, they included verbage that they were not setting precedent and that this was a one-time act by the Court.
Corruption. Pure and simple. I'd love to nail O'Connor on this. I bet nobody has regrets like she does. Only respect for her age keeps her insulated from such interrogations I'm sure. She may be more responsible for the mess we have in this country than anybody else.

Happy Birthday to one of our great Presidents, Ronald Reagan.
I'll pause as Joanie, Sparkles, Drew all have a conniption-knee jerk response.
Anywhoo, a great president who becomes even more so as time passes by and we take a look at what has since come to pass.
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 06, 2010 at 02:56 PM
You're pretty entertaining, Putz.
Posted by: sparky | February 06, 2010 at 03:29 PM
No, he's really not. Like others have said, he's gossipy and boring.
Posted by: gig harbor | February 06, 2010 at 04:49 PM
I believe that Chucks was in Haiti. Only someone as twisted, misguided and lacking in common sense as Joanie would not believe it. I have to call it as I see it. You can call Sparkles and Joanie the Denial sisters.
Happy B-Day, former President Reagan. I did not really appreciate him until his 2nd term, but he was the last of the presidents who did not believe in a one world government. I am looking for that quality in the next President I vote for. The GOP has been brain dead and clueless when it comes to that and if they run another McCain or bush type in 2012, they will most assuredly lose and I will vote for another candidate who is supports sovereignity and vows to protect our borders.
Posted by: KS | February 06, 2010 at 05:01 PM
I watched all 5 clips and I have to say I was highly entertained by both guys. I think O'Reilly's cheap shots at Stewart were actually pretty funny and so did Jon apparently. And did you hear the off camera laughter at some of Jon's comebacks? The Harvey Feirstein/Dick Morris comparison broke everybody up, including Billo.
I truly think both these guys kinda' like each other and have a grudging respect for the other's work.
That was a fun wrasslin' match to watch.

Posted by: KS | February 06, 2010 at 09:34 PM
you libs up there on Blatherwatch, you lullabye crowd up there smoking your pot out of your damn bongs- you have no conception of the real world. I was in a missile silo during the Cuban Missile Crisis, checking some of our nuclear weapons for readiness .... i caught a military jet back to Oakland...i walked along the highway and here comes my supervisor driving back to Lawrence Livermore... he opened the door and we drove in silence. Not one word was spoken. Hey did i tell you the one about the mule at Livermore Labs. Wait aminute , that was the mule in the coal mine and it wasn't a joke, it actually happened to my Daddy and me....you vulgar green Nazis!

That's the problem we have with you, KS. You "believe" but never know for sure. You have no facts.
Posted by: joanie | February 07, 2010 at 04:00 AM
err Joanie, wouldn't that also be true of you?
you have no facts. you dislike chucks ergo you don't want to believe anything good about him.
pot meet kettle, again!
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 07, 2010 at 05:36 AM
and that's the problem 'we' have with you...absolutely no self awareness or sense or irony. just humorless, repetitive, knee jerk reactions.
that, coupled with how you treat 'fools' aka anyone in an occupation you deem beneath your high opinion of yourself says a lot. none of it good.
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 07, 2010 at 05:39 AM
With all due respect, shut up Joanie..
Posted by: KS | February 07, 2010 at 09:03 AM
one of the usual suspects was quoting RFK Jr as an authority on global warming...
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who flies around on private planes so as to tell larger numbers of people how they must live their lives in order to save the planet, wrote a column last year on the lack of winter weather in Washington, D.C.
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 07, 2010 at 07:09 PM
RFK Jr. - another progressive along with AlGore who is out to manipulate the "peasant" masses with more AGW claptrap that plays into Cap and Tax aka a Carbon Tax and brings in more $ for their lobbies. Follow the money...
Progressivism is on its way out as evidenced the slippage of the Obama and the Democratics who are led by Progressives. They will relabel themselves as populists - beware...of the Faux Populists. Said memo has been issued - the term progressive will go into hiding until a future date TBD.
Posted by: KS | February 07, 2010 at 07:35 PM
KS
Liberal, Progressive, or Populist it isn't the label but the message that is found wanting.
Nov 2010 will be interesting. The Progressive wing will look back on the 2008-2010 Congress with its 87 seat Majority in Congress and 60 Seat Senate and wonder, 'WTF?'
Maybe the uber Libs will wake up and decide to send a message to the Dims by sitting out the 2010 election cycle...
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 07, 2010 at 08:01 PM
The uber Libs would be out in full force only if Palin were the nominee in 2012 (which I hope does not happen). It would be better if the Dims hold onto the Senate and if they hold onto the House by a few votes, that wouldn't be tragic either. Republican majorities in both Houses of congress would only increase Obamy's chance of reelection.
The true Progressive agenda has been uncovered simply by reading the correct history - (see Woodrow Wilson, Teddy Roosevelt and FDR-not the rewritten history that the media tries to pass off today-WTF ?). Progressivism would have a better chance for success in Europe, Venezuela, Cuba or the other axis of Evil nations (which already use totalitarian rule) - the end game for Progressivism.
Posted by: KS | February 07, 2010 at 09:44 PM
If we can get rid of the morons that think of them selves as progressives in the house plus get rid of Harry Reid as well as a few more uber liberal tax and spend Senators and the country can mend.
If conservatives can take the House or Senate, maybe Obama can moderate his evil plans and have a successful presidency a long the lines of Clinton.

Hey Joanie
Another massive snowfall in DC. How's that well renowned 'expert' on Weather, RFK Jr looking now?
We note the dodge on your part. Trying to make weather pattern predictions on such little data is specious. But that won't stop someone like RFK Jr.
What he said 18 months ago...
"...In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today's anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don't own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers.
In those days, I recall my uncle, President Kennedy, standing erect as he rode a toboggan in his top coat, never faltering until he slid into the boxwood at the bottom of the hill. Once, my father, Atty. Gen. Robert Kennedy, brought a delegation of visiting Eskimos home from the Justice Department for lunch at our house. They spent the afternoon building a great igloo in the deep snow in our backyard. My brothers and sisters played in the structure for several weeks before it began to melt. On weekend afternoons, we commonly joined hundreds of Georgetown residents for ice skating on Washington's C&O Canal, which these days rarely freezes enough to safely skate.
Meanwhile, Exxon Mobil and its carbon cronies continue to pour money into think tanks whose purpose is to deceive the American public into believing that global warming is a fantasy."
