Talker's Magazine The quirky talk radio trade mag. Check the Talk Radio Research Project- it's not very scientific, but places on the top 15 talkers list (scroll down to Talk Radio Audiences By Size)) are as hotly contested as Emmys (and mean just about as much).

right-wing blogs we like
The Reagan Wing Hearin lies the real heart of Washington State Republicans. Doug Parris runs this red-meat social conservative group site which bars no holds when it comes to saying who they are and who they're not; what they believe and what they don't; who their friends are and where the rest of the Republicans can go. Well-written, and flaming.
Orbusmax inexhaustible Drudgery of NW conservative news
The Radio Equalizer prolific former Seattle KVI, KIRO talk host speaks authoritatively about radio.
DR. LAURA CHEATS AT THE YACHT RACES: America’s nutcracking yenta and moral compass was found to be off-course when officials caught her cheating in the arcane, fat cat world of yacht racing. See Dr. Laura naked here.
Rush Limbaugh, 58, was taken to Queens Medical Center in Honolulu complaining of chest pains. He is in serious condition, according to KITV.
Bud “Teabag” Philson, of Memphis, told the AP he believed the president’s “black ops detail” had attacked the talk host on the golf course with a “poison dart or a death ray of some sort.”
President Obama, who has refused to account for his whereabouts at the time around the talk show went down, has been in the islandsm since Christmas Eve.
"Coincidence?" says Philson, "I don't think so."
He says Obama and "his goons" have sworn to "snuff" Limbaugh. “He’s the only man in America who can stop their drive for total control. They know that.”
Seattle talk radio took it in the shorts in 2009. As we fall helplessly into 2010, we can’t say that 2010 looks better, or more certain. When will the black come back?
THE BIG STORIES
THE PEE-PEE-EMS: Amidst the fast-shrinking revenues of a tight recession, Arbitron’s electronic, personal metering system (PPMs) were dropped into the Seattle market in March/April and turned it upside down. As the new technology found out what folks were REALLY listening to, the top became the bottom. After a near 20-year hiatus, music radio once again became ratings leading format.
KIRO TAKES A SELF-INFLICTED BLOW: After much fanfare and nearly simultaneous with Arbitron’s installation of the PPM’s, Bonneville flipped their legendary AM blowtorch to sports talk, then tucked their high-paid help (Dave, Dori, Ron & Don) into their oldies FM station (the late, not too great KBSG)
We have grave doubts legalization of marijuana will happen any day soon in Washington, but it'll be talk-fodder for sure. (Darrel, where are you?!) It's a long been a libertarian cause célèbre, but watch conservative talk hosts like Dori Monson, Dave Boze, and Frank Shiers who call themselves "libertarians" (a right-wing facade) spin like your grandma in her grave to avoid agreeing with such a libertine, but sensible proposal.
No, Fisher Comm hasn’t had a change of heart after firing Kirby last month- he’s filling in for Sean Hannity’s syndicated show (KVI m-f, 12-3p) this week.
Welcome back to the air, Kirby, we're hearing it might not be long until you find a permanent new radio home. Can't be too comfortable for the suits, you doing the Hannity show from Fisher Plaza, though...

Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
I work at Burger King,
Making flame-broiled whoppers,
I wear paper hats,
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
Ding fries are done,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
I gotta run,
Don't touch the fries in hot fat,
It really hurts bad
And so do skin grafts,
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Would you like an apple pie with that?
Wait for the bell,
Can't hear the bell
Where is the bell?
Wait for the bell,
Ding fries are done,
DING FRIES ARE D-O-O-O-O-O-NE
Luke Burbank is heading to New York to fill-in Christmas week for John Hockenberry on PRI’s The Takeaway (KBCS m-f, 5-8a).
The casual public radio morning news show hosted by Hockenberry and Celeste Headlee is produced at WNYC in collaboration with The BBC World Service, The New York Times and WGBH Radio Boston.
(Not sure if it will happen, but TT hopes to be poised to slide gradually into Morning Edition’s place with a fresh generation as the aging ME listeners shuffle the mortal coil).
Luke’s an old (?) public radio hand- he was a national reporter for NPR; co-hosted it’s ill-fated but ground-breakingBryant Park Project, and appears irregularly on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me (KUOW Saturdays, 10-11a).
Burbank’s podcasting his Too Beautiful to Live from his Seattle home studios after the show was cancelled by KIRO in September.
TBTL will have a national meet-up and live show from New York January 26th. Luke says: “We’re still firming up the lineup, but we should have some pretty kick-ass guests. Plus, Jen and Sean will be there. It's kind of turning into a national meet-up for listeners.”
The show at Union Hall in Brooklyn is already sold out. “If it works out our plan is to do a live show from a different city every other month or so,” he says.
MSNBC's Chris Matthews (the conscience of Pennsylvania) tried to browbeat our own Darcy Burner on the teevee Monday. She didn't take the bait. Matthews is a Billo Reilly wannabe who interrupts and sternly filibusters his guests- when, that is- he's not fellating them.
Darcy, (now the Executive Director of ProgressiveCongress.org, a non-profit lobbying group) kept her cool, making Matthews look evermore bilious and past his pull-date. (HT to KO!)
KIROFM 97.3 Multi-format: news and nearly all local talk. This is where classic KIRO AM news talk radio went... hopefully, not to die. The home of Dave Ross & Luke Burbank, Dori Monson, Ron & Don, Frank Shiers, Bill Radke, Linda Thomas, Tony Miner and George Noory.
KUOW FM 94.9 Seattle's foremost public radio news and talk.
KVI am 570 KHz Visit the burnt-out husk of one of the seminal right-wing talkers in all the land. Here's where once trilled the reactionary tones of Rush Limbaugh, John Carlson, Kirby Wilbur, Mike Siegel, Peter Weissbach, Floyd Brown, Dinky Donkey, and Bryan Suits.
Now it's Top 40 hits from the '60's & '70's aimed at that diminishing crowd who still remembers them and can still hear.
KTTH am 770 KHz Right wing home of local, and a whole bunch of syndicated righties such as Glennn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Lars Larsony, and for an hour a day: live & local David Boze.
KPTK am 1090 KHz Syndicated liberal talk. Stephanie Miller, Thom Hartmann, Ed Schultz, Randi Rhodes, Norman Goldman fill in the large hole to the left on Northwest radio dial.
KLFE AM 1590 kHz Syndicated right-wing 2nd stringers like Mark Levin, Bill Bennett, Mike Gallagher, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller and Hugh Hewitt inhabit this timid-voiced neighbor honker for your radio enjoyment (unless you're behind something large like Costco).
