think a smarter version of keith olberman.

Rachel was awesome. She didn't back down one iota. It was obvious that Mr. Phillips was not used to being questioned about his motives by anyone, and his various attempts at charm, sarcasm, overtalking, etc did not work with her.

Rachel is one of the smartest people on TV right now. I used to actually watch Tucker Carlson's show
just to watch Rachel kick his ass and then have him say "Thank you Rachel"

Don't quit Rachel!
It is time the left stop being polite to these smarmy a-**le money whores and go for the throat.
Fundamental issues like health care are too important.

Are there some smarmy polite guys on this blog?

from the NYTimes ..sheriff's update on Balloon Boy's family:
Update | 1:31 p.m. Sheriff Alderden said that the Heene family had planned “the hoax”: “The hoax was that this had been a planned event for two weeks.” He also said that child protection services will investigate whether the family is a safe environment for the three Heene boys.
He just added that investigators have doubts that the boy was hiding in the garage, which was the family’s initial claim when it announced that the boy had been found safe.

say what you will, dori had this guys number from day one and took alot of heat by outing him even while the balloon was still aloft potentially with the child. he played cuts from the reality show that showed an ugly side to the fathers personality and was way ahead of the curve on this story, i think he deserves some credit on this one.

A broken clock is correct twice a day.
Dori is still a girl's name, even if Dori is right once in a blue moon.
Posted by: AprilMayJune | October 18, 2009 at 03:29 PM
Dori's shtick is to blame the victim first so that the analogy of a broken clock being right twice a day couldn't be more fitting.
Once you find out that the family is involved with reality TV your whole understanding of the scenario flips on end. Perhaps only one in every one hundred thousand families have any relation to reality TV so the logical man has to assume that plays into things somehow. It's probabilty, not genius.

And what does the balloon boy story
have to do with Rachel outing a smarmy fake astro turfer??
Posted by: Crystal from the old KIRO chat | October 18, 2009 at 06:24 PM
As far as Monson goes he gets tiring to listen to with his fake outrage I haven't even tuned into him or KIRO for about 5 yrs
it got so predictable and boring.

Hey Crystal..it's an Open Thread!! :) Anything goes!
Posted by: sparky | October 18, 2009 at 07:06 PM
Open thread,here goes...
The White House is blaming and wants to penalize the insurance companies for releasing the study that showed Obamacare in a negative light. There was some truth in their report, although the timing may have been suspect.
All of the hot air and demagoguery that BO blathered by saying something to the effect of "To anyone who stands in the way of progress, I don't quit, I'm not even tired and I'm just warming up". It is apparent that he does not care why those who oppose Health Care Reform. If they cared, they would reform it correctly and do it incrementally and not have Harry Reid mix together the two Senate Bills without discussion then have a vote without allowing adequate time for study. The left has overreached and they are addicted to power, they are more wrong than ever before, including the last Administration when the right overreached.
These are tactics that are used by regimes like Communist China, Cuba and Venezuela. Well, it's happening right here right now here. If this is seen through without a change in course, there will be massive consequences to us and also to many of these jokers who are up for election next year. Meanwhile, the biggest joker will remain in the
WH until at least 2012.

A dear friends son, Sgt Chris Rudzinski, was killed in action while serving in Afghanistan this past week. This was Chris' fourth tour in harms way, once in Kosovo, two in Iraq and this tour in Afghanistan.
Chris was a great man, a loving husband and daddy.
Good Morning America is going to have something on Chris in the morning.

"Folks, I just flew in from Vegas and boy my arms are tired!" Dori Monson had producer Phil hit a rimshot as he opened up his Monday show. "Great to be back on Newstalk 710 KIRO, folks, after my Vegas vacation. I'm telling you that Wayne Newton show down there is something else." I was flat on my back in bed, suffering from a flu of sorts, as the diminutive dipshit blathereed away on his afternoon radio show. I drifted in and out of sleep all afternoon , until I heard the motormouth sign off his finaL hour. "Listen to 710 KIRO for al the great liVe and local shows all the way up to 9 P.M. when Mike Webb comes on the air." I tried to stay awake for the post - Dori guy but found mysELF falling into a deep, dark sleep, sleep, sleep.........suddenly I was wide awake, sitting bolt upright in bed. The room was in darkness, - I had been asleep for many hours. I stood up, switched on a lamp, and walked over to my computer. The room seemed odd, with a vaguely sinister air to it. I thought aI heard German marching band music playing, grotesquely out of tune coming from somewhere... I fired up the Dell and logged onto Blatherwatch. I expected the Blatherwatch postings board to be lit up with outrage over Dori's latest asinine statement earlier that afternoon. I scrolled down the list of commenters/topics and saw the old familiar names- Joanie Sperky, Authentic Andrew, Chucks and even myslef, Tommy008. But - wait. What the- I was reading a list of Michaels topics that were totally foreign to me. "Mike Webb's ax murderer gets 12 years, "Mormons take over KIRO- AGAIN!", Where was I? the future? some alternate erality? Hell? As I read through the comments I found out that Mike Webb had been dead for years , bludgeoned to death eby an axe-wielding punk in his own home, KIRO 710 AM had been sold to a gang of Mormon clowns who had moved the old talkshow hosts Like Ross and Monson over to an unlistenable, puny Fm signal and put a 24/7 sportstalk station in it's place, complete with two morning show morons and dumbass hosts talking to dumbass , lame callers, and yukking it up day and night. Good god! yep- I must be in Hell, I thought. I fell asleep in my computer chair, and woke up with the morning's first rays streaming through the window. All of the prvious nights horrors came flooding back into my brain. My computer was still on. I hadn't been dreaming- I HAD BEEN at the computer late the previous night. I quickly punched in Blatherwatch. It was the same old Blatherwatch , thank God!,with posts about Mike Webb's previous night's show, referencr to Newstalk 710AM KIRO, and the whole gang of usual suspects......

I am sorry for the loss of a brave man like Sgt Chris Rudzinski.
His selfless actions keeps us safe.

WTF ? That's the funniest thing I have read yet on this blog. He's just another misguided Lib Prog.

I got the sense that Steele was disgusted with the way some of the posters on here conduct themselves. I think he expected more civility.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 19, 2009 at 12:18 PM
Steele needs to look in the mirror and also call out his co-hort Drew and Ph(J)oanie for their lack of facts and civility.
I'm anticipating that this will occur when pigs fly.
Posted by: KS | October 19, 2009 at 12:37 PM
You may be right Andy. Steele came along a while back and treated all in a civil manor. Steele's post started to decline (which happens to many of us here)in time. Maybe Steele is just a class act that did not wish to fall into the cess pool with you, me, joanie, curly turd and a few others.
We will see in time.

MSteele was a man of many opinions, that's for sure.

I have to give people on here credit for enduring some harsh verbal abuse. Since there are no accounts to suspend and no moderators these threads sink as low as any can. Most forums would have banned all of us by now, including blathering michael himself. And that's why I'm still here after all this time.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 19, 2009 at 02:50 PM
um....Michael owns, operates and moderates the blog....why would he ban himself? :)
Posted by: sparky | October 19, 2009 at 03:48 PM
Oh ye. Bla'm has spanked me a couple of times for being a little less than charming on rare occasion, but has not punted me.
I guess he just see the need for a brilliant conservative to add a little moderation to the board.
snicker, snicker......

Hey sparky, I get it now LOL
however I really didn't notice your post so much as the numerous posts from the same guy

I'm saying that Mr Hood commits ban worthy offenses on a regular basis. Bradley Marshall tried to ban bla'm IRL.

Luke Burbank filled in for Don today on the Ron and Don today. He was yukking it up with Ron over Mr Heene, he of the ill-fated ballon stunt, and his attempts to stay in the spotlight after his stint on Wife Swap. He's had his own show on Youtube and this latest attempt at a publicity stunt. Burbank was going on about how some people, such as Heene, who think they're really talented, actually just are not particularly talented, and don't have what it takes. It was a moment of supreme irony. The smug Mr. Burbank didn't realize, as he wondered aloud what society was to do with such people, that he was talking about himself.
Posted by: Tommy008 | October 19, 2009 at 07:49 PM
Dude, you were replaced by Frank Shiers.
Posted by: Tommy008 | October 19, 2009 at 08:28 PM
Doubly ironic because Burbank's schtick has some similar qualities to Heene, both have involved their actual families and children in their public displays. But in fairness Burbank doesn't break the law and he's not FUCKIN NUTS.
I wish Burbank wouldn't involve his family in his show though because it blurs the line between public and private domains. I didn't like it when Dave Ross brought in his daughter to host his show. I don't like hearing about Frank Shiers' perfect daughter. Imagine if Mike Webb had been this forthcoming about his off-air relations. Leave home at home.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 19, 2009 at 08:45 PM
Speaking of fuckin nuts, the Senate has posted its 1502 page Health System Adjustment Act.
2010 can not come fast enough. 2012 seems like an eternity, but it will come and we can rid the nation of these incompetent boobs.
Posted by: chucks | October 19, 2009 at 09:02 PM
The Supreme Court needs to weigh in with the illegitimacy of whatever they pass. These morons are absolutely corrupted by power. They are economically retarded and their damage will be a real challenge to undo.
Congress and the White House remind me of Heene. They are mentally deranged in the DC sane asylum. They need to have some sense up side the head with a 2 X 4 and a pitchfork in the ass.
Posted by: KS | October 19, 2009 at 09:41 PM
When a person compares a body of legitimately elected officials to someone like Heene I think they need to take a long hard look in the mirror.
When it's "everyone else" who seems crazy, and the only way you can think of setting things right is through acts of violence then I think you need to stop and reflect on where you are and where you want to go.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 20, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Not advocating violence, I was advocating figuratively knocking some common sense into these morons which there is all too little.
Ex-squeeze me, but if you don't realize people on both sides have taken leave of their senses, then you don't get it either. If you don't get it that they obviously don't give a rat's a__ about the people they serve - yes they serve us, then you are the one who needs to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask who you are and what are you fighting for ? You can thank me for that insight later.
Posted by: KS | October 20, 2009 at 09:29 AM
you're crazy

Posted by: KS | October 20, 2009 at 12:11 PM
And you add so much value with comments like "Congress and the White House need to have some sense up side the head with a 2 X 4 and a pitchfork in the ass." Just one example of you incisive political commentary.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 20, 2009 at 12:57 PM
as opposed to that guess-crap that you throw up against the wall, Andrew?
the old, I don't like conservatives so I'll pin all kinds of crap like arson or assassination on 'em' routine of yours?
does that pass for 'incisive political commentary' in your circle?
(i'll pause to let coiler toss in the ever faithful reference to circle jerk or will you shake it up with some high fivin white guys meme?)
and by the way, if nevets is reading this i hope you come back to this blog.
