CNN's Larry King (and former Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer argued with her recently: "They're talking (to) about 1 percent of the population," he said. "They had no effect on the election. ... Would you want them to be the voice of the Republican Party?" Didn't faze the ungrammatical Bachmann, who has one of the largest press operations in Congress, "it's all about the ratings." Elections, polling don't count- it's Arbitron and Nielsen who take the real pulse of voters.
Think Progress pulled this dialogue:
KING: Would you want the Limbaugh, that crowd — would you want them to be your voice as the Republican Party stands in this country?
BACHMANN: Well remember it’s who the American people are referring to Larry. And the American people are looking to voices like Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Glenn Beck –
KING: I just told you — it’s 2 percent of America. It’s 2 percent!
BACHMANN: If you look for a critical mass, that’s the movement, that’s the direction that the critical mass is going. And the American people are very smart people.
Conflating radio and teevee entertainers ratings with political consensus is a fool's paradise. (And Fleischer, a pro, knows it). While stoking anger against the Democrats will help, the Republicans had better figure out a way to get some real ratings among voters who aren't crazy like Fox News. (FNC's audience on a good day is around 3 million viewers, and that includes all the liberals they claim as viewers).
Folks who give a damn about politics turn to FNC instead of CNN and MSNBC.

Of course Michelle Bachmann has never met the likes of joanie when she expresses ..."And the American people are very smart".
I was wondering when you would go after Bachmann, (R MN). She seems to be gaining prominence in the Republican party.
Of course she is just a lowly woman, mother of five, fostered over twenty. Probably seen many times in tennis shoes. How the heck can the people of Minnesota vote for such a woman to serve in Congress. We are so much smarter than those yokels.
Oh wait. Don't we have one just like her here?
Here we go again. Carry on Michael. Be a part of destroying another good person . Same old, same old.

Larry King is usually such a pushover. It was surprising to hear him laugh at her at the end there.
Cosnservatives buy into that kind of bright, shiny object logic. There is no group of people more oblivious to logical fallacy than the religious right because religion is itself a logical fallacy clusterfuck of epic proportions.
The radical talkers definately don't represent the right. Obama's approval is hovering in the center and he hasn't even done anything. As soon as some health care reforms touch pavement I'm certain the approval will begin to climb among liberals and conservatives alike.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 15, 2009 at 02:56 PM
chucks you have no place critiquing the intelligence of others.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 15, 2009 at 03:04 PM
Michelle Bachmann has 5 children and 23 foster children. It is miraculous she manages to look like MILF.
Posted by: mrogi | October 15, 2009 at 03:13 PM
Hmm, how very uncalled for. Well at least she's good for something other than spreading misinformation and producing spawn.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 15, 2009 at 03:24 PM
Harper was right- it's "entertainment" that is found on FNC, not news (even Bachmann's heroes keep running to the "entertainer" umbrella when they get caught in a lie or some other episode of lack of credibility, because they know they will never pass a litmus test as journalists.
Bachmann also exercised a very typical escape commonly found in cons- if the question is too uncomfortable to answer, diversion is the key. In a surprising move by King, he asked Bachmann if her empty suited heroes from con-talk should represent the GOP, and she knows that it's time to run for the exit. She made multiple attempts to escape and evade, to no avail.

Five children? Palin with how many- 10? What is it with these good looking Republican women? They multiply like toad-mice, yet there's so few of them.
Posted by: Mack's dad | October 15, 2009 at 08:21 PM
Yes. Mark Foley wanted kids too. He was caught trying to special-order them online.
Posted by: Drew | October 15, 2009 at 08:53 PM
Spawns children, "probably" wears tennis shows?
All the qualifications to be a politician.
If you're a woman.
On the right.
Let's all enjoy a group laugh!
Posted by: joanie | October 15, 2009 at 09:01 PM
Bachmann is doing the con crazy for the attention. Chucks is a great example of how she and her ilk attract the dim witted. Observe his commit, “It is miraculous she manages to look like MILF”. It is as if her looks compensate for her fanatical screeds.
Can you imagine Chucks in a passionate embrace with a woman and his request for her to talk dirty to him?
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 09:36 PM
Hey, what’s with the icons?
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 09:38 PM
You have 2 distinct ones...
Posted by: Coiler | October 15, 2009 at 09:54 PM
That was not my comment Steele. There is no sexual inuendo in my post either express or implied.
I do not make derogatory comments about moms. Never have.
(if joanie is a mom, which I doubt very much as that would have meant some poor man has had to have touched her, she is the exception and that is only because she really likes and encourages it. If she were a civilized human, she would get none of it from me)
Posted by: chucks | October 15, 2009 at 09:56 PM
Bla'M must have taken the thousands of dollars we sent in this last week to put in icons to class up the joint.
Probably got himself a new Porche as well.
But if you look real close in the middle, they have secret hi tech cameras so he can see us blogging in our undies.
Posted by: chucks | October 15, 2009 at 10:00 PM
Ohh, sorry Chucks. You have the same icon as mrogi. Do excuse me for the mix up. But the premise lays at the feet of you cons. You love her look, how about the message?
How the heck did you know i was in my undies?
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 10:15 PM
I'm a real Steele, I'll never get caught red handed.
I know that this will shock you, but she and I agree on a lot. Don't know her well enough to say that I agree on all. But then my wife and I don't agree on all.
Posted by: chucks | October 15, 2009 at 10:18 PM
It is always about sex for you. That's exactly our point. Can you make any point without turning it into a sexual slander?
Another group laugh.
Posted by: joanie | October 15, 2009 at 10:20 PM
My icon looks like the Liberty Bell in a horizontal mode. And blue is my color. It matches my gorgeous blue eyes.
Posted by: joanie | October 15, 2009 at 10:22 PM
Yes Coiler, you caught that. If you feel curious, as did I, history will enlighten you. I know when I took the trip through the annals, I became more enlightened.
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 10:22 PM
Hey Steele, I see that your 9:36 comment has the same icon as I have. Does that mean your are leaning my way? A little?
Ye, I didn't think so.
Posted by: chucks | October 15, 2009 at 10:26 PM
You do not have to convince me chucks. I know you are real….
And no, you do not have to take credit in my ability to shed the icon. My guess is you can no easily shed that icon as mrogi can.
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 10:34 PM
what is the connection between names and icond??
Posted by: sparky | October 15, 2009 at 10:38 PM
I don’t think steele wanted to answer that.
Posted by: Mark Question | October 15, 2009 at 10:47 PM
Bachmann is a politician worst than those accumulating monies day to day for reelection. She is one that will use race bating and panic to take advantage of the dread of her followers. She is the worst of politicians, a charlatan hell bent for power.
Posted by: Plato | October 15, 2009 at 11:05 PM
Yes, Bachmann is as bad as Palin, and both represent the "new" republican party, whose followers can't think past the shallow surface. Someday they'll have to admit they were wrong to think you can drag a non-running Corvair out of the wrecking yard, put 5 coats of glossy enamel on it, and it's still just a piece of shit car that nobody in their right mind will ride in.
Posted by: Drew | October 15, 2009 at 11:17 PM
Would you ride that car chucks?
Posted by: Grand Oligarh | October 15, 2009 at 11:20 PM
Why state the obvious? Let the cons heard the republicans into a dark corner? If they use stupid and fear to gather these folks together, more power to them. We don’t use these tactics and therefore we don’t have the chicken shits in our party.
Posted by: chimchim | October 15, 2009 at 11:32 PM
Michelle Bachmann has a nice chassis for a woman who has dropped 5 sprogs. I'd love to take a ride in her jalopy.
Posted by: mrogi | October 15, 2009 at 11:32 PM
Have I been banned? I can not post.
Posted by: M.Steele | October 15, 2009 at 11:35 PM
My concern is the independents who don't have a lot of time in their busy 2.5 jobs life to listen to real news stories. Instead, if they're flippin' across the teevee dial and hear Bachmann mention internment camps for republicans and death panels for elderly, they believe it. Even though the cons know she's lying, not one will stand up and say so, because the party eats their own at a time like that. And allowing her to continue further pushes the fear agenda onto the public. It worked in 2002, and it'll be Democrats and Republicans with some sense of decency that have to step up and call them on it.
Posted by: Drew | October 15, 2009 at 11:49 PM
Crazy, no one understands it but them, that’s why they attract the ugly women.
Posted by: choo | October 16, 2009 at 12:01 AM
Good bye all
Posted by: M.Steele | October 16, 2009 at 12:10 AM
So the comments are messed up for 48 hours and all we have to show for it is little satanical images on the side that add nothing of value?
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 16, 2009 at 02:15 AM
No, we also have a working blog. I would have liked it better if we could somehow pick an image to go there. Mine kinda looks like Katrina on a Spirograph. I would have preferred the pic of Tim Eyman getting arrested by Yakima PD. Or that look on Palin's mug when when asked the really tough question, "What magazines or newspapers do you like to read?"
Posted by: Drew | October 16, 2009 at 08:46 AM
Hard to trust these posts - there is always a different version to these stories than the Lib Prog blogs show. It's called the true story. Sad but true...
Posted by: KS | October 16, 2009 at 07:32 PM
just want to check my icon.
KS, I would have guessed that your icon would be a pirates flag.
Posted by: Puget Sound | October 16, 2009 at 09:21 PM
Tis’ strange PS, your icon is the same as joanie.
And KS, you still blither like an idiot.
Posted by: Nom du plop | October 16, 2009 at 09:43 PM
the icons are random
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 16, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Mine is always the same
Posted by: sparky | October 16, 2009 at 10:44 PM
not necessarily, it looks like it is linked to your ip. by the way you and Coiler have the same icon.
Posted by: Watcher | October 16, 2009 at 10:44 PM
Yes, mine has always been the same, too. I want the pink one. Steele has gotten several icons, I think.
Posted by: joanie | October 16, 2009 at 11:00 PM
Anybody see "Maddow Calls Out Americans for Prosperity President: ‘Parasite Who Gets Fat On Americans’ Fears"
He kept a smile on his face but it was the smile of a man who was thinking: no matter what you say, the far-right fools out there will believe me. Cuz they're stoopid.
Posted by: joanie | October 16, 2009 at 11:06 PM
Truer words have never been typed.
Posted by: M.Steele | October 16, 2009 at 11:16 PM
Joanie, are you also Puget Sound?
Posted by: Curious minds | October 16, 2009 at 11:43 PM
Hahaha. I've been outed!
Posted by: joanie | October 16, 2009 at 11:46 PM
oh, that's pretty clever.
Posted by: AuthenticAndrew | October 17, 2009 at 12:02 AM
This exercise is going in bad direction.
Posted by: capcha | October 17, 2009 at 12:08 AM
Yes, she said tonight that she thought about the statement and still thinks he is a parasite.
Posted by: Coiler | October 17, 2009 at 12:15 AM
You're an old sourpuss, Andrew.
Rachel tells it straight. I love that. I think kent has upped the quality of his commentaries, too.
