When the hispanic population becomes the majority in this country in a few years, who will the wingers pick on then?

At school we spend a lot of time teaching kids to be kind to one another. Then they go home and turn on the TV and see the grownups act like idiots.

KS

That won't happen unless progressives are running the roost. In that case, America will degrade into a 2nd world nation. A balance of power is absolutely necessary to keep this under control.

We need enforcement of illegal immigration laws, but no cut in legal immigrants - keep them coming legally and under control. I know that's a tough concepts for the LP's (the wingers) to grasp, but it has worked before and will work again.

"Then they go home and turn on the TV and see the grownups act like idiots."

Yes and you can thank Hollywood and the accompanying culture for that..

Coiler

But no enforcement of illegal employers...

Balance of power??

The projections show that by 2050:

•Nearly one in five Americans will have been born outside the USA vs. one in eight in 2005. Sometime between 2020 and 2025, the percentage of foreign-born will surpass the historic peak reached a century ago during the last big immigration wave. New immigrants and their children and grandchildren born in the USA will account for 82% of the population increase from 2005 to 2050.

•Whites who are not Hispanic, now two-thirds of the population, will become a minority when their share drops to 47%. They made up 85% of the population in 1960.

•Hispanics, already the largest minority group, will more than double their share of the population to 29%.

•Blacks will remain 13% of the population. Asians will go to 9% from 5%.

So, if ks were telling the truth, a society's deterioration is determined by the number of brown people amongst the general population?

The fact that a border fence is only being built on the southern boundry (except near country club properties in TX where the owners and members were big GOP donors), is proof that the cons will throw a lot of taxpayer dollars at a project that has never worked before, just to get the frightened white supporters to quit calling their legislattive hotlines. We don't have an illegal immigration problem in America; we have an illegal employer problem, and the Reaganites helped put it into play.

Looks like Joe Wilson,You Lie! lied about his being an "immigration" attorney

But no enforcement of illegal employers...

I doubt that KS is willing to let the employers who knowingly hire illegal immigrants off the hook.

I agree with KS. LEGAL Immigration. Keep it coming.

Surely -to paraphrase Dennis Miller- the least we can ask of someone coming to this country is that they deign to sign the guestbook coming in and not elbow aside those that have patiently followed the rules. That doesn't work at Disneyland at the Space Mountain Roller Coaster Line and doesn't fly here.

Legal immigration is a good thing.

But if the argument is couched in the vein that opposition to illegal immigration means you are racist then you do a disservice to legitimate issues of race.
Kind of like those who use 'race' to attempt to quell criticism of Pres Obama.
Short term gain of political points but long term harm. Hope those of you who engage in that are proud of yourselves.

So THAT'S what you do at a charter school..

My favorite dish is Carne Assada and I really love the tamales the lady brings by on Tuesdays. She always has beef and the other choice varies weekly as to pork or chicken.
The local detail shop use to have white and black kids working there but now it is all Mexicans except for the owner.
I am getting a new roof in the next couple of weeks. The guy in Federal Way with the white guys working for him estimated the job at $10,800.00. The guy with the Latino crew put it at just under $8000.00. I am still unemployed so what should I do?
Are we on the right subject today? I just had noticed that all of the other lib blogs are hatting on us conservatives today for being racist towards blacks because Obama has idiotic policies and you are trying to alienate me with my ex and a couple of my kids.
I don't want to piss off the ex as she still sends the Granddaughter home with enchiladas for me.

The Seattle phone book had several autoglass companies. I called several to replace a car window. the company with the lowest price seemed rather odd, since it was so much lower than the others, who were all very close. The woman on the phone fom the cutrate compant sounded liek an average jane doe white. she sent out a Mexican worker who brouhgt the wrong window. I talked on the phoneto a supervisor who also had a Hispanic accent. The second worker they sent out was also Mexican. They were obviously not paying their workers what a legal citizen makes and shelling out what is required legally in taxes from the employer, to be able to undercut by so much. How can we teach our children the work ethic (see Chuck's post above) if all entry level jobs are busted out for undocumented members of the Mexican Mob?

i also need a roof. let me know how the crew does on your house.

M.Steele

Wow, this is running off the rails on both sides.

KS

Pew research = P U. I'd like to see how other think tanks on both sides view this. No doubt, the demographics are changing, but this is a sovereign countries that owes it to its citizenry to protect our borders.

Sparks and Drew - Keep your heads in the sand. It's peaceful and blissful there.

Drew

Ummm, which border did the 9/11 hijackers come across, and why is no one advocating building a fence there (unless it's really something else you want protection from)?

But you have to admit it's pretty interesting that we can build ineffective fences in the poor neighborhoods along the southern border, even taking land from small farms and ranches through eminent domain, but the wealthy just say "no", and the fence stops there, preserving their view of Mexico. What's up with that? You'd think those plaid 'n' argyle-wearing farts would be worried that terrorists could just run across the 14th green when they're trying to tee off. WTF?

Mark C.

KS you're really wrong about that- Pew Research is not a liberal think-tank. It's as near to neutral as a research organization can get. Broadly respected. As anyone right or left in the business of public policy information knows, Pew the gold standard.

Drew

O'Reilly and Hannity both cite Pew, when the data fits their need. If it doesn't, then the good folks at Pew are a bunch of lyin' commie bastards. G. Gordon Liddy, who is considered around the world to be an expert on rodent cuisine and not much else, has also used data from Pew Research.

Duffman

chucks, putz...if you haven't committed already I sould suggest getting a quote from Redmond Roofing. They are on the Eastside but perform work throughout the area. I just got a new roof from them and several others here at the office did also. We were all pretty impressed with their attention to detail (including clean-up). Sorry...a bit off-topic but may be helpful. :)

"We've learned that it will take more than one generation to bring about change. The fight for civil rights has developed into a broader concern for human rights, and that encompasses a great many people and countries. Those of us who live in a democracy have a responsibility to be the voice for those whose voices are stilled."

William J Harrison

By 2050; the U.S. population will have doubled to over a half billion people in the space of my gen x lifetime entirely due to this massive wave of an illegal and legal 70 year LBJ immigration surge. If we the legal voters of this nation should choose to elect represenatives to curtail that migration into our nation; we would entirely be within our rights. There is no universal civil right for the 6 billion peoples of the world to flood into California. If they like our liberty enlightening the world national ethos as represented by the statue of liberty; let them struggle, as our forefathers did, to build their own nations in the American image.

Does anyone think Lou Dobbs would risk a $3,000,000 job over Obama's immigrant status, and some nutcase border vigilantes. Would CNN allow him to run wild?

This is a replay of the Kosher Nazi Frank Collin. Like the SPLC is going to portray Lou Dobbs as a monster. Then suddenly Dobbs announces he will be a presidential candidate.
