(Editor's note : Billy Bob is a Blatherwatch commenter who used to work in Seattle radio. He doesn't always make perfect sense, but we like him because he's half Billy, half Bob, and tries to pawn himself off as Larry King. He watches radio and listens to teevee).
By Larry King
~~ The people who own the rights to "Bozo the Clown," received hundreds of angry letters from KTTH listeners recently. They thought they were getting marching orders from The Truth to launch a "Bozo Ban." But it was just yakker David Boze and his wife, Peggy O'Ban doing a show together and calling it Boze-O'Ban.
~~ Is Blatherwatch mucky-muck Michael Hood about to go commercial? He's working on a line of sweatshirt "BlatherHoodies," ("Hoodhoodies?") Ex-Newsie Susan Hutchison is testing the product: Sez Ms. Hutch: "They're warm and the hood is ideal if you're out paddling and don't want to be eyeballed!" Sizes S; M; L; XL. Plus extra-roomy hoods for radio talkers.
~~ Soon to be ex-mayor Greg Nickels is privately grumbling about the mornings he wasted appearing with Greg & Jane on KIRO. Says Hizzoner, although he usually supports morning pastries, he says, "The cream-puff questions every week were great, but I probably should have spent more time doing shows with bigger ratings, like Mike Siegel's."
~~ Lots 'o eyebrows raised at Fisher Plaza last week. Morning KOMO news big-daddy Bill Yeend and his side-gal Manda Factor were way out front on the story about the city shutting down some seedy Aurora Ave motels. Quips one KOMO-ite, "Bill and Manda really had sources on this one."
~~ Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney is hoping to win a "FIVEY" to hang on his office wall. "My Career in Major Market Radio" is the title of the autobiographical film Maloney has submitted to the annual Radio Disney "Five Minute Movie" competition. (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Scoot.)
~~ Is 710ESPN about to launch a weekend lifestyle show hosted by garden guru Ciscoe Morris and Chef in the Hat Thierry Rautureau? Working title: "What'd He Say?" Unfortunately, KIRO can't afford to hire translators. (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Tom Douglas.)
~~ When Glenn Beck appears at the upcoming Evergreen Freedom Foundation shin-dig at Safeco Field, which local talkers will do interviews with the Beckster? Would KOMO or the Kirbster promote a competing radio show? Harrah's Sports Book lays even money that Beck will be on with Dori.
~~ Separated at birth: KOMO honcho Dennis Kelly and Jeopardy champ Ken Jennings. "Alex, I'll take KIRO-Killers for $200." (photo: Dennis or Ken?)
~~ Ex-First-Son and current radio yakker Ron Reagan finally got someone famous to appear on his show: his mother. Word is, when the producer called Nancy Reagan at home, her first response was, "He has a show?" (Tip 'o the yarmulke to Tina Nole.)
~~ Q: What do Ernie Brown, Drake Collier, Alan Prell, DJ No Name, Fred Ebert, Bill Gallant,Tony Ventrella and David Goldstein have in common? A: None of their shows that lasted as long as KIRO's ratings-grabber TBTL.
~~ Speaking of radio jokes, Luke Burbank sent this along: A horse and Frank Shiers walk into a bar. Bartender says, "Why the long face?" Horse says, "You'd have a long face too if you had to drink with him."
Great as always, BB!

Yeah, what Sparcoil sez!

Speaking of Bozo's THIS is getting ridiculous!
Why don't you LP's try and make yourselves useful by loudly lobbying our EXIT from this.

Spot On Duff!
How come we don't hear anything out of Spar-Coil pie-hole about the anti war bumper sticker or protests against the war.
Makes you wonder if all the anti-war talk was just politics played on the backs of our military rather than a genuine anti-war movement.
If anything, Pres Obama has ramped up the war. The 'good war' into Afghanistan. The one we can't win. Yet nothing from the Anti-War crowd.
'They' get all preachey about 'torture' of a few high value targets with non lethal tactics such as waterboarding YET say nothing about shooting a Predator drone missle into a home. Because we don't have actionable intel we are actually killing more innocent lives. When the bad guys run into a home it's not like the women and children who reside their have a say in the matter. It's using a sledge hammer to take out a cockroach when you can get it done a lot easier.
PS: you willing to help Chucks get that web-divorce?

From Charlie Cook, one of the best Political Reporters around. Why Dems should be terrified and why they are double clutching on Health Care despite their majorities that could make passage of pretty much anything they wanted a slam dunk. So why the pull out?
"Even in the best of times, Congress is unpopular. And now voters see Obama as having sent suggestions rather than proposals to the Hill, staking his future and reputation on a body that they hold in low regard. (On foreign-policy matters, where Congress plays a small role, Obama's job-approval ratings remain quite good. It's on the domestic side that his numbers are dismal.)
With 14 months to go before the 2010 midterm election, something could happen to improve the outlook for Democrats. However, wave elections, more often than not, start just like this: The president's ratings plummet; his party loses its advantage on the generic congressional ballot test; the intensity of opposition-party voters skyrockets; his own party's voters become complacent or even depressed; and independent voters move lopsidedly away. These were the early-warning signs of past wave elections. Seeing them now should terrify Democrats."

Sorry if tht conjures up any relationship to who might be in charge now.

It's easy to tell the two apart: Ken Jennings is the smart one.

Wow! Any inside scoop on the tear-down of those radio towers in Sno Co last night Bla'M ?
Posted by: Duffman | September 04, 2009 at 12:44 PM
They'll definately find the person(s) who did it. What with having an earth mover involved and being dumb enough to leave a forensic rich sign all the while belonging to a narrow set of suspects (people who live within eye shot of the towers). I doubt someone who wiould use such poor judgement would have properly covered their tracks (literally and figuratively). When they go knocking on doors this afternoon the cRaZy!!! nutball who answers the door screaming obscenities to the police about his merican rights will probably become the prime suspect. I can't wait to see what this looony motherfucker looks like. I'll bet two bits he didn't vote for Obama.

If it's in fact the ELF group (as was hinted in a sign left at the crime site) - don't most ELF members vote Democrat?
Posted by: Duffman | September 04, 2009 at 01:17 PM
Andrew, I think whoever did this doesn't vote at all. They knew enough how to use a piece of construction equip. Probably someone in the neighborhood.
Posted by: Coiler | September 04, 2009 at 01:27 PM
So, I'm curious...how do you decide whom to be and when...is there some logic or possibly physical localtion or convenience involved in your decision...like which computer you're on?...Hehe
Posted by: Duffman | September 04, 2009 at 01:31 PM
You have to remember, there is a top appointed 'environmental' official in the Obama Administration who apparently believes there is "evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur." I'm sure HE voted.
Posted by: Duffman | September 04, 2009 at 01:37 PM
It does appear that THEY are certainly trying to take credit for it...hmmmm; now how did they vote? I know! I know! [smile]
Posted by: Duffman | September 04, 2009 at 01:57 PM
The ELF had nothing to do with it. The issue is between the station owners and the nearby residents. I don't even think there is an "ELF" as such, it's just something young arsonists scrawl in order to feel dignified in their criminal behavior.
If there was an "ELF" and they were involved this would be an idiotic target to hit because it would dilute their message to have done something that served mor than one agenda. Like "ELF, we protect the envirnoment and we'll do your taxes!.. or solve your petty land use disputes!"
The list of people who would want, and be capable, of doing this is probably very short. That said, it's often hard to pin evidence to a suspect but I don't believe they will have any trouble in this case.
It's funny because when I read about the tower dispute a couple months ago I was thinking "I wonder if an angry neighbor will just knock them over with a couple well placed explosives" in the same way that some people will ring their neighbor's trees in the middle of the night to improve their own view. And this is America, we don't disappoint. It so happens that an earth mover is easier to acquire than dynamite. Who knew?

Coiler, I know you advocated the "crushing" and "cutting off" the balls of every Republican but cannibalism. Thats sick.

"You have to remember, there is a top appointed 'environmental' official in the Obama Administration who apparently believes there is "evidence that suggests high-level government officials may have deliberately allowed the September 11th attacks to occur." I'm sure HE voted."
Van Jones, said environmental official has denied these charges of being a "9-11 Truther", by saying he didn't know what was in the petition for "Truthers" that what he signed at that time.
He also apologized for calling Republicans "A-holes" and admitted that was inappropriate. If you believe his claims, I have a Viaduct running through Seattle that I'd like to sell you.

You are being played by the master. This is fun.
Posted by: Coiler | September 04, 2009 at 10:03 PM
Uhhh Coiler, it was you who voted for him. So that would mean you and the rest of the Neo-Coms were are the ones being played.
Let me try it this way so maybe you can understand better. Coiler voted for Obama. Coiler likes his master. Coiler is happy truther in White House. Coiler wants precious. Obama needs the ring. Coiler wants to please his master and get the ring from Frodo.

You are being dumbed down and sucked in by the media-government complex.
What fun to watch this slo-mo train wreck.
