On the bright side for the troubled KIROFM, The venerable corporate alternative paper The Seattle Weekly revived its 'best talk radio' category in its annual Best of Seattle issue:
KIRO FM's Too Beautiful to Live
is the most self-indulgent three hours (7–10 p.m.) to infiltrate local
airwaves on weeknights. It revolves around the whims of three quirky
and charismatic personalities: host Luke Burbank, producer Jen Andrews,
and engineer Sean DeTore. They rarely break news or talk current
events, instead opting to mull over issues like Chuck E. Cheese
reacquiring its beer license ("Really? Alcohol in a place with a ball
pit and babies?") and male nudity in film ("dude-ity"). Essentially,
TBTL is the Seinfeld of radio—a show about absolutely
nothing. And we dig that, because, truth be told, it's easier to relate
to, not to mention more entertaining, than most of the crap on the
dial.—Erika Hobart

My 12-year-old son tells me it's his favorite show, although he listens to the podcast, not the broadcast. I don't think Luke is a bad host - but he sounds more coherent when he's subbing for Dave Ross and doing REAL talk radio.

In that picture, Luke looks like he has peed his pants.

Article the TBTL gang needs to read:
http://www.holytaco.com/youre-33-nobody-cares-if-you-make-out-your-friend
I was recently at a bar on a Saturday night, and there were these two women in the corner, they were probably 33-35 years old, and they were standing in the corner, waiting for guys to come up and talk to them. I know this because they were dressed like I was, the time I was six and and shit my pants in school, and thought I could just throw away my shorts and pull my t-shirt passed my penis. Except no one looked at them and said “We’re calling your mom, you need to go home.” So, about two hours go past, and no one is talking to these ladies, because everyone in the bar is about 25 years old. People sort of reacted to them like you do when you’re in high school and you see your teacher in the grocery store. Just sort of give a quick nod, and then try to move past them."

TBTL still sucks........

If any publication names Dave Ross the best talk show in any city; that publication has ZERO credibility.

Most talk radio is just a bunch of "pompous windbags, full of hot air", as Bill Gallant used to say. Its outdated within moments after the show is over. TBTL is so off the wall that it can be repeated ten years later and be just as relevent as the day it was broadcast. So I guess that means TBTL is nothing about nothing. Isn't that the point?

KIRO HILLBILLIES
Come and listen to a story about a dude named Luke;
A big man-child who many thought a kook.
Then one day he was strokin' on his goose,
And up on the phone came a call from a Bruce...
Reese that is, Bruce Reese, Morman fella.
Well the first thing you know ol Luke's got a show,
Lissners said "Luke, yer show sure does blow"
They said "KIRO ain't the place you should go"
And the lissners switched their dials over to ol' KOMO...
Radio, that is. KOMO Radio. All News.
Well now its time to say good by to KIRO and their hosts.
And they would like to thank you folks fer makin' them toast.
You're all invited back a gain to this dial spot
To have a heapin helpin of their KIRO squat...
Diddly Squat that is. Right-wing diddly squat. Turn yer brain off.
Y'all come back now, y'hear?.

I like that song.
Who turned on the italics?

Thanks Billy Bob, your input here is always amusing and smart. I'd say those creaky old daypart dudes Dave and Dori, and the hideous R&D had more to do with the downfall of KIRO 1 & 2 than TBTL, though.
Of course the main fault is they moved their heritage brand with its built-in megaphone and replaced it with sports. They moved it to a place where the old men who still listen to talk radio do not even know exists, FM.

TBTL is like the Tom Leykis show. A station could play endless reruns of both shows and nobody would no the difference. General nonsense topics are timeless.

TBTL is a solid, smart, funny show. Luke Burbank has smarts and talent to burn. Whatever becomes of KIRO, following their bone brain radio strategery, Burbank's future success in radio is assured,,,,

Wild Bill is correct.

Gotta agree with Wild Bill too!

TBTL ...
I find it hard to figure out why anyone would advertise on this show. If there is a demographic, waht would they buy?
iTUNES DL?
condoms?
sex gels?
drinks at the in bars?
Bumbershoot tickets?
Stuff they would not buy? Nordstrom's, Penney's, roofing, airplane tickets, travel packages (well, maybe to Disneyland), Toyotas, Baseball tickets, storm windows, Sounders tickets, Storm Tickets, Gold, insurance ...
you know the usual stuff they sell on the RAIDEEYO?

Not sure I agree with Wild Bill, but it is a unique talk show that strives to be quirky and is a stream of consciousness. His topics are less stimulating than Tom Leykis, otherwise there could be similarities. Better yet, its like Seinfeld on the radio - a show about nothing - which casts it in a better light.
I confess - missed it again tonight - To anyone who listened, what were two of the highlights from tonight's show ? I have heard it several times for 5-10 minute intervals.

On the Boeing vs the union subject: Have you heard of corporate greed? Boeing is an upside down company, too many cheifs ( making BIG money) and too little indians ( making good money, and airplane parts) First it will be move to the south eastern part of the US ( cheaper labor, right to work state) and then when they are not "padding" their pockets enough they will close that and move to Mexico, like the famouse GM car company. ANd in Mexico they will start out paying $10 a day for labor, then when the profits are not "padding" their pockets enough, they will cut that to $5.00 a DAY and inform all of the workers " there is a hundred people out there that would love your job."

Godd take on Boeing, McG. Also remember the construction honcho scumbags who tel l their legal American workers, "you don't like it we have 500 Mexicans at the border saddled up and ready to ride."
