Seattle listeners, according to the new PPM survey have stars in their ears, and music in their hearts. The news and politcs are way down there on the listenables.
Music radio rules ... especially Fisher's KPLZ (Star 101.5 FM). The market's all fuzzy tunes and almost no talk. Note public radio KUOW kicks news and news talk
ass at #11 but still can't overcome the shit-kickers, the oldies and the Charmin soft rock; progressive robo-talk KPTK, and hard right talkers KTTH and KVI are nowhere to be seen in the top 20. Sports talk isn't much of a factor, re: the low standings of KJR-AM and KIRO-AM.
Thanks to Radio Schmoozer at Radio info, here are the 25-54 Average Persons rankings for the Seattle market. we figure if the giant Radio-Info can publish these numbers so can we.

There seems to have been a hoax perpetrated on radio listers and advertisers. It was that talk radio is all there is to radio.
The cold, hard accuracy of the PPMs is refreshing. Maybe if radio pays attention to the listeners, the lock talk has on the radio, particularly syndicated right wing talk, will be broken.
We can all get back to our soft bread & easy-listening circuses.

This is an eye-opener. I thought KIRO after it survived Entercom would endure at the head of the line.

Interesting because LTR just ran a piece on how soft rock/jazz is a dying market! I think a lot of people are burned out on politics for awhile, probably a long while, and just want to let their brains coast to music.

I like to listen in while Ross is on but the signal went weak. So I turned on my scanner.

" I think a lot of people are burned out on politics for awhile, probably a long while, and just want to let their brains coast to music." - That nailed it for me, I'm tired of all the bashing by both sides.

mrogi- those are the Winter 09 book before the station flipped. The new 12+ numbers haven't been released yet. Neither KIRO AM nor FM will be #1. They'll be closer to the 25-54 that are posted here.

I'm a bit surprised that apparently KVI is off-the-charts in both recaps. What do you suppose that will do to Wilbur's contract renewal.
