As if he didn't have enough problems, the FBI is broadening Norm Coleman's nasty little payola scandal.
If by some bizarre set of circumstances he won his far-fetched Senate recount appeal, he'd drag this grimy little sack of shit with him. It ain't going away. (His Senate appeal isn't about winning it's about the R's stalling the certification of Franken).
We haven't written about this, but it's been simmering away since October. (Coleman can't blame the FBI interest on the Obama administration) It's a sleazy set of allegations involving clothing and other items purchased on his behalf by a longtime friend and businessman Nasser Kazeminy. There are also questions about $1000,000 being directed to him from Kazeminy through his wife's employer.
Coleman vehemently denied the allegations. "Nobody but me and my wife buy my suits," he said.
That should have been his campaign slogan.
Now it's being reported that the FBI has expanded its investigation as more Minnesotans have been recently questioned about the suits.
Meanwhile, Jesse Ventura told Larry King, "Coleman's always been a hypocrite. He never does what he says. He said on election night when he won, that Franken should drop out and he should be the senator. Well, the same should hold true after the recount."
Coleman went before teevee cameras the day after the election and urged Franken to waive his right to a recount. He earnestly told Minnesotans the prospect of changing the result was remote, and that a recount would be too costly to taxpayers and "I just think the need for the healing process is so important."
Hate to agree with Jesse Ventura, but that's hypocritical...
~
Yes, Jesse is on our side. Coleman needs to step down to save what's left of the disgraced gop.

"Nobody but my wife and I buy my suits" Not "my wife and me"

Ventura also said he wants to see Bush and Cheney prosecuted for war crimes. He is definitely on our side.

Coleman- one more embarassing example of the arrogance of the cons.

I seem to remember Norm's quid pro quo controversy starting up long before the 08 election.

I guess Eric Earling taking you to the woodshed on that a few months ago has worn off.
Oh Sparky, are you telling us that we can't go through your postings and not parse 'em for correct grammar usage and find you wanting on occassion?
But nice Dodge, I could see why you would want to avoid the larger issues.
Not so fun being on the other side, eh?
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 15, 2009 at 05:26 AM
Putsie, I have no idea what you are talking about. I have never posted a single word on UnSound Politics. He Who Must Not Be Named has done that for me on several occasions. I can barely stand to read it, which is 2-3 times a year, at most. It is concentrated wing-nuttery and I get enough of that here.
Second, you still have no sense of humor. Pity.
I have no idea what you think I am dodging. But since that is one of your favorite comments, I guess it's just a habit.
The other side? You mean the side that won? I'm delighted.
Posted by: sparky | May 15, 2009 at 06:02 AM
Putsie, I have no idea what you are talking about.
Untrue, she is quite aware of what you're referring to.
I have never posted a single word on UnSound Politics.
Cute (like Pelosi) this is probably true, since I'm not aware of a blog called "UnSound Politics".
I can barely stand to read it, which is 2-3 times a year, at most.
If one "can barely stand to read it", why would one suffer the pain of allowing themselves "2-3 times a year".
Second, you still have no sense of humor. Pity.
UNtrue. PS's humor just can't be appreciated by hopeless PL's.
I have no idea what you think I am dodging.
UNtrue. You are dodging 'facts' and you know it.

At least three grand ironies -- should I say hypocrisies -- at work here.
First, as mentioned above, Coleman called for the whole thing to be shut down immediately when he was ahead. Now that he's behind, he wants to drag it out as long as possible.
Second, the GOP, the party of tort reform, the critics of endless litigation, are the first to lawyer-up and head to court whenever it suits their interests. If Coleman's battle doesn't fit the criteria for "pointless litigation," I don't know what does.
Third, of course the 2000 Presidential election, in which the Republicans and their tame Supreme Court justices brought a premature end to the Florida recount.
The GOP -- standing on principle, unless it's inconvenient!

ok, then, Puget Sound - directly relevant to this post - what's your opinion? Should Coleman concede, or should he continue the legal challenges?
Posted by: TJ | May 15, 2009 at 08:48 AM
Sparky has a nice Dodge, it mows down republicans and was built by union labor.
Posted by: Coiler | May 15, 2009 at 09:09 AM
And is bankrupt! LMAO

No, but my man is. Hehe

And so are you and uncle.
Posted by: HoChiMinh | May 15, 2009 at 09:41 AM
Pudgette...I know you find it hard to believe that people would choose to take a pass on your blog. Make that Sharkansky's blog--you are a "guest blogger." The very few times I go read is when someone here says that Duffman is being a doofus over there and we all go look. Spending time trying to argue anything over there would be minutes out of my life I could not get back. It must be where Puts gets his habit of instructing me on what I "REALLY THINK," since you just tried to do the same thing. If I had such mental abilities as you two, I would quit my job and just pick Powerball numbers!

"ok, then, Puget Sound - directly relevant to this post - what's your opinion? Should Coleman concede, or should he continue the legal challenges?

I said a couple days ago that Coleman should concede. I stand by that.
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 15, 2009 at 05:42 PM
Oh Sparky
so these posts over there are not yours?
"Hey Puts! I have posted several things over on Sound Politics and they have been nothing but nice toward me. They can even disagree with me without any references to being drunk, mean, blah blah blah. They think the idea of a "Duffman Challenge" is rather weird, by the way.
You really should put your anger towards joanie aside. You have really been Mr. Grumpy Pants towards a lot of people here the last week or so.
Posted by: sparky | June 21, 2008 at 01:56 PM"
First you say you never go over there, then you say it's only a couple times but you never post, and later you show quite a bit of knowledge about how the blog is run and who does what on the blog. LMAO
and ... oh well, looks like its a nice Dodge Caravan you been tooling around in. But plenty of room for Nancy Pelosi for sure...so sorry that Earling made you look so silly on playing wannabe grammar cop.

Spot on Coils. I agree.
Probably explains the faulty premise it's built upon, and inability to hold a thought whilst tooling down the road.

Franken and Obama have said 'we must stop the hate'. Join the winning team putz.

Regarding sparky's SP denial:
Confound those facts anyway. As coiler would say we are getting our nuts crushed by the facts.
Posted by: HoChiMinh | May 15, 2009 at 06:17 PM
I saw some comments signed by Sparky on SP several months ago. Of course, that must have been by an imposter. Ph(J)oanie hasn't denied being on SP, even though she is a poor sport from getting kicked around over there and refers to it as Un(Sound) Politics.
In this case something else other than their nuts (try nipples) may be getting crushed by the facts.

"They can even disagree with me without any references to being drunk, mean, blah blah blah. They think the idea of a "Duffman Challenge" is rather weird, by the way."
Sparky changed her story. No waterboarding necessary :)
The Duffman challenge is real SP is more intense in discussing politics and out of one's comfort zone. The conservatives and trolls over there are more vicious than the resident liberal progressive partisans here.
"You really should put your anger towards joanie aside. You have really been Mr. Grumpy Pants towards a lot of people here the last week or so."
Grumpiness begets grumpiness or more succinctly bitchiness begets bitchiness. With all due respect, She brings it on all by herself,

You to ph(J)oanie...all though I doubt anyone has ever been nagged to death.
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 15, 2009 at 07:08 PM
Ah yes, the "Duffman challenge", which turned out to be a big joke. I had forgotten that. But any Sparky posts since then are someone else. Probably the same person who is famous for that here. Curious how people who were not even around then seem to know all about it. So you can all go back to rofl-ing now, or whatever it is that you do.
oh one more thing..it's a Ram 1500, not a Durango. It is a very nice truck, too bad gas got to expensive to drive it.

fair enough sparky.
oh yeah, until duffman is located i am thinking its a good idea for you not to leave town. :)
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 15, 2009 at 08:55 PM
KS
I had forgotten how badly ph(J)oanie got it over there. But it's her own fault for wanting to lock horns with Pudge.
What say you? Are you of a like mind that Coleman should concede?
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 15, 2009 at 09:06 PM
Coleman should concede eventually after he feels that he has sunk enough money into court challenges that only delay the inevitable. He is acting like a Democrat in prolonging things (guess that he used to be one). Consider the cases of William Jefferson or Jack Murtha. This is Coleman's last political stand. Speaking of last stand, think it is getting close to time to throw Pelosi under the bus - she is radioactive.
Ph(J)oanie's verbal barbs rolled off Pudge like water off a duck's back. He has an intense cross-examination and has written some decent ballads.
Posted by: KS | May 15, 2009 at 10:41 PM
Putting ph(J)oanie up against Pudge was a little like the Titanic running against the Iceberg. No matter how fast and reckless ph(J)oanie ranted it didn't really have an impact on Pudge's cool solid logic. Poor ph(J)oanie never realized that she was sunk until it was too late. But hey, fun to watch from the peanut gallery. It also exposed her crap to a different crowd. Maybe she'll get help one day. And yes, Pudge is a good singer. I didn't realize it until Duff directed me to some of Pudge's youtube material.
From Coleman's point of view their has to be some real anger given that it took a perfect storm for him to lose the senate seat (third party candidate in addition to Franken and the anti repub tide in general) BUT he evidently lost and as you state KS, we shouldn't be letting him off the hook and allow him to act all 'Democrat.'
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 16, 2009 at 06:26 AM
pudge must be your lover, thats all you've talked about for 2 days.

Posted by: Puget Sound | May 16, 2009 at 06:48 AM
It must be nice to have a lover, eh joanie? I suppose it has been a few years for you. That pus and all. There can not be enough alchohal to get any man interested in you anymore.
As for Coleman, fuck it. No concessions until all of the evidence has been has been heard and litigated. No concession until all appeals have run their course. In the end, the truth will be known and Coleman will be seated.

'Ah yes, the "Duffman challenge", which turned out to be a big joke. I had forgotten that.'
Operative term: 'I had forgotten that.'
Sparky appears to have selective recall much like our esteemed Speaker Of The House. Duly recorded and will be remembered.
Being disingenious on this blog can be tough. Better spend more time in your garden or correcting homework or whatever it is that keeps you occupied.
(I'd work on that memory if I were you.) ROFLMAO
Posted by: HoChiMinh | May 16, 2009 at 08:46 AM
Looks like that Dodge Sparky drives has the need for a memory chip upgrade.
Nice catch, KS.
Sparky also forgot how much she praised the way she was treated on the SoundPolitics blog....""Hey Puts! I have posted several things over on Sound Politics and they have been nothing but nice toward me. They can even disagree with me without any references to being drunk, mean, blah blah blah...." Sparky sez but later contradicts it with a slam on the SoundPolitics blog as being a waste of time "...Spending time trying to argue anything over there would be minutes out of my life I could not get back."
Hmmm, maybe over there they don't tolerate slippery logic or careless Dodges.
Pick a story Sparks and stick with it.
Posted by: Puget Sound | May 16, 2009 at 09:18 AM
ooops, that was KS and Ho with the nice catch.
Gotta go outside and work. Later

If colemman is guilty he needs to perp walk.
Your botox od Georcoris speaker said she was going to drain the swamp of the culture of corruption.
When are you going to demand that she do so? For starters rangel, jefferson, gorelec, the directors of fannie & freddie, emanuel, kennedy, dodd, schumer, feinstein, clinton, harry the body, geither, leaky leahy, the dying swimmer, wexler, j.jackson jr, jackson-leigh (lee),zero, and mcdermott.

Typo-georcoris should be geocoris.

Super Ph(J)oanie must have crawled back under the rock that bore her.
Posted by: KS | May 16, 2009 at 10:05 PM
You know, reading through Queens Hunter it does beg the question: whatever happened to the Blago Investigation by 'Super' Prosecutor Fitzgerald?
You know, the one he stopped before finding out who was going to pay the million bucks to Blago for the Senate Seat?
So they kicked out Gov Blago for attempting to sell it but don't go after the one who was willing to pay the bribe?
Wonder which big time power player in the Dem Party it was who could come up with a million dollars AND get his name squashed? Of course, the connection to Rahm Emmanuel isn't going to hurt either since he was the one coordinating the transfer of the Senate Seat.
And wasn't Pres Obama the co-chair of Blago's last Gov run?

My god! The keystone idiots are at it again!
I get back from my beloved BB and find out I'm still the topic of conversation!
Michael, I demand a cut! Where's my paycheck?
I take it, Sparky, you and I are again the victims of GG's posts on UnSound 'tics. Who cares. If it gives these guys something to talk about, let them have their fun. They must lead awfully dull lives.
BTW, between parroting everybody else, posting everything twice (or more times), and asking questions and then trying to answer them, does spotsie have anything intelligent to contribute at all?
Posted by: joanie | May 17, 2009 at 10:04 PM
That would be a "no."
4 weeks to go, joanie, and then I am headed to southern Utah and a couple of National Parks. Can't wait!
