GO NAVY!

Mack

Obama's mistake here was that he didn't clear this SpecOps detail with KS or PUTS. In fact, he quietly gave the go ahead to the Navy, and even Faux News didn't know it was about to happen (ESPECIALLY Faux News- thank God Geraldo didn't get this info a few days ago).

AuthenticAndrew

I don't know if it has ever been made more clear prior to now just how much the conservative punditry hates America.

This is a very clear example of how wishing for Obama to fail is exactly the same as wishing for America to fail. They wanted that captain to die so that their anti-Obama hate speach would be validated and vindicated. But that didn't happen because Obama is made of awesome and the conservative punditry is catering to the delusion that insists otherwise.

Puget Sound

hey, before you give too much credit to our President for the operational success of this understand that it was the men and women of the US Military that made this happen. as Commander in Chief, President Obama gave the only order a pragmatic person could make in this situation.

the military made it happen.

Puget Sound

"After that, Obama, the anti-war Muslim, terrorist wimp-sucker blew the smoke out of the barrels of his six guns and re-holstered America.

careful, that 'cowboy mentality' won't go over well with the French.

Puget Sound

too date, i've been happy with President Obama's military efforts. he's been listening to the ones that finally turned President Bush's military efforts in a successful direction. Mr. Gates, General Petraeus, etc.

it will be interesting to watch the Left. this Pragmatic course by Pres Obama to date of following the Bush 'strategery' in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and elsewhere. Let the Gitmo deal just be suspended for a year as they continue to study it to oblivion (hey, the French agreed to take 1 of the Gitmo 250 prisoners!) and things will continue in a positive vein.

if we could just do something about the domestic spending at 4 times the rate of W's worst binges and you would see most of America with nothing to complain about.

woody held

Mission Accomplished!

Now we will need to dialogue with those somalis, and perhaps give them some food stamps.

six-guns...well at least he did not use assault weapons. That would have been just vile and uncalled for.

But all kidding aside, nice job Pres. Obama.

Mike Barer

I wonder if Obama will lose some supporters on the Left.

Puget Sound

did anybody not think that this was a made too order crisis for Pres Obama to look forceful? that short of surrender by the pirates it was going to end in death?
the boat was going nowhere, it was surrounded by the good folks of the US Military, and the 'talks' were just part of the wearing out process that always happens in hostage discussions.

Pres Obama wasn't going to be Carter or Clinton Redux: (From Washinton Post)

Many of us recall when a group of Haitian thugs prevented US Marines from landing in Haiti. That sent a message to that part of the world about US resolve.

"It was one of the earliest tests of the new American president -- a small military operation off the coast of a Third World nation. But as President Bill Clinton found out in October 1993, even minor failures can have long-lasting consequences.

"Clinton's efforts to land a small contingent of troops in Haiti were rebuffed, for the world to see, by a few hundred gun-toting Haitians. As the USS Harlan County retreated, so did the president's reputationClinton's decision to send the USS Harlan County to Haiti loaded with troops was seen as a half-measure taken by a president spooked by the earlier downing of a Black Hawk helicopter in Somalia.

After the Harlan's failure to get ashore, conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer wrote in a column that year that the incident "makes the administration look feckless and the country look weak."

Thirteen years earlier, Democratic President Jimmy Carter authorized a military rescue of the 52 hostages being held by Iranians in Tehran. The 1980 attempt, called Operation Eagle Claw, ended when two helicopters crashed in the desert, killing eight servicemen.

The incident was a permanent blemish on Carter's reputation."

KVIFan

I think some credit goes to former President Bush for making sure those Navy seals were properly trained.

Mack

I think kvi was not surprisingly silent and cooperative as Bush sent tens of thousands of troops to hot combat zones without body armor or weapons that operated up to mil specs. Yep, I'll bet she had nothing to say about that.

KVIFan

How about them near 59,000 Americans and millions of others killed in Viet Nam? Initiated and accellerated by whom? Read a little history Dolt, think THAT might have been a bigger mistake.

Coiler

It's a source of entertainment in here to watch the monday morning quarterbacking by the righties.

Mack

Nobody here is letting JFK or Johnson off the hook for Vietnam (take a look; no one said that at all). But for you to try to layer some more of your misplaced praise and adoration for Bush shows that you understand nothing of the military.

KVIFan

Thanks for acknowledging we are right.

Mack

And thanks for acknowledging that millons died in SE Asia. War never determined who right on an issue- it only determines who's left.

Still waiting for you to say anything about Bush demanding over 1 trillion in tax cuts for the wealthiest 1% of Americans while telling the middle-class parents and spouses of soldiers in 2003 that we can't afford Kevlar that might keep them alive.

Habu

Your picture of zero in the hat is a reminder of the sheriff in Blazing Saddles.

I see some libs are getting their panties in a knot over zero continuing many of the Bush policies of keeping surveillance procedures classified. He campaigned against doing so but obviously has suffered a reality wakeup call. Another empty campaigne promise. What is the count of broken promises to date?

KVIFan

Changing the subject and playing catch up. That's another acknowledgment of your apparent delirium. You have aptly demonstrated your ineptness, there's no need for further discussion so go back to patting your Sybil coharts on the back.

rozskat

How about them near 59,000 Americans and millions of others killed in Viet Nam? Initiated and accelerated by whom? Read a little history Dolt; think THAT might have been a bigger mistake.

Yeah, Communists killed them all and the millions do not include casualties from bombing of the North. Apparently, your idol the “Decider in Chief” was the main dolt by not reading about that ill-fated conflict in Southeast Asia. Besides waving the flag on the sidelines with the Kirby Corp what was your contribution to any of these war efforts?

Coiler

Actually Habu, you must of not paid much attention to Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles, the rednecks in the movie were being played by the master...

"You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know…morons."

Mark

In Texas when I was a kid if we saw a Negro wearing a hat like that we'd knock it off his head. This man staged this entire "crisis" to make people think he has a back bone. He's a lib coward, and he will sell out his county. LISTEN TO RUSH, HES GOT HIS NUMBER!

AuthenticAndrew

The conservative loiterers are definately feeling their manhood being challenged this morning. I've never seen so many wacky unsolicited posts from the same few people in response to anything.

Coiler

Must be them "Morans" in Texass, you know the ones the Waco Kid talked about with Sheriff Bart in Blazing Saddles,

"You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know…morons."

you stay classy Mark C

Billy Bob

Let me get this right: "in Texas when I was a kid if we saw a Negro wearing a heat like that we'd knock it off his head"???

You claim you'd do that, but yet you're too big of a candy-ass-pussy to sign up and go weed out the evil-doers in Iraq???

Sheriff Bart

You've got to remember that these are just simple farmers. These are people of the land. The common clay of the new West. You know…morons.

The muslims made a deal with the Obama people. Take the hostage, let Obama look like a big hero saving them, then let them get away. As Rush said, it's a way he can raise his poll numbers so he can pass his socialist programs. He ended up double-crossing them, and the pirates got killed. There is hell to pay now. The muslims have declared war on Obama and the US. This is another war that could have been avoided if the One hadn't tried to use the military to push socialism at home. Obama doesn't care about the lives of our military if they are in the way of his agenda.

Sheriff Bart

"The Muslims made a deal with the obama people"... You guys really are "morans"

KVIFan

I hope you are wrong Mick but if that's the case we need to do more in Somalia than we did during 'Blackhawk Down' days. Oh, does anyone recall under what administration did that happen? I seem to have forgotten.
get down on it haha

Sheriff Bart

In 1992 the United States walked into Somalia with good intentions. George Bush senior announced that America had come to do "God's work" in a nation devastated by clan warfare and famine. But, as Scott Peterson's firsthand account Me Against My Brother shows, the mission was doomed by intelligence failures, partisan deployments and, ultimately, the belief that you can bomb a nation into peace and prosperity.

It looks like Bush fucked up

Again

KVIFan

Now, now sheriff we all know better don't we.
-get down on it Haha

mick

Theres no doubt the "lines are open" with muslems and the Obama administrations. According to Bill Cunningham, Rahm Emmanuel is a Lebanese muslim who's family has world wide Islamic connections.

Sheriff Bart

Its "Muslims" ok?

nevets

"did anybody not think that this was a made too order crisis for Pres Obama to look forceful?"

Could be Puts. But we'll have to wait for the video to come out before any judgements can be made of this operation.

That the SEALS took thier shots off a rolling fantail. From 30 yards away in the middle of the night. Amazing. I've shot guns off a few fantails in my career and to make this shot one must be more than a Marksmen. Simply amazing.

M. Steele

Strange posts form the same person,

I wonder what conspiracy explains this illogical thinking. Please explain…

mick

Your suspicions are correct, nevets, its simply a lie. I am sad to say, Obama seems to have got the military to go along with the deception. Its shameful, never thought I would see the day. Who will hold these people accountable when it is the CoC who's the biggest liar.

nevets

Speaking of video. All ships have cameras above thier Helo Control Towers to video all helo operations. These Cameras general pan the flightdeck which is the fantail on the USS Bainbridge. The Navy needs to get this video out if it wants to avoid any second guessing on its part as to whether it was a set up or not. And dont give me this it was night time stuff. These cameras work great in the night.

DH

mick: Emanuel is an orthodox Jew, you idiot.

nevets

I'm not saying its a lie Mick. I love this. And as a Navy man, I would just hate to see them embarassed.

And what I'm really amazed at is the LIBs are starting to think this type of action is great. There is hope for them after all.

KVIFan

Naw, I would say somewhat "unorthodox".

mick

Nevets, the Navy says they are keeping the identities of the sharpshooters secret. It these are such great heroes, why are they kept under wraps. Its a put-up job. My hunch is those "Navy Seals" are probably FBI agents under the command of Obama and Eric Holder.

Donny

It's clear that the disaster of Junior trying to run two wars simultaneously wasn't enough for people who just can't get enough- sounds like the cons here would love to see us in a third war. And another one against a country with no military or government structure. The republicans never learn, do they?

M. Steele

The first year Bush took office didn’t he have a problem with the Chinese? I think it was in April also. Bush blustered, Rummy scoffed and Cheney snorted something evil which made the Chinese din in their heels. When Powell took the lead things done but the neo-cons put Powell on their hit list. I think Obama handled this with cool calm integrity. No one in his administration jockeying for credit, and no bluster from him.

M. Steele

Sorry about the typos

The first year Bush took office didn’t he have a problem with the Chinese? I think it was in April also. Bush blustered, Rummy scoffed and Cheney snorted something evil which made the Chinese dig in their heels. When Powell took the lead things got done but the neo-cons put Powell on their hit list. I think Obama handled this with cool calm integrity. No one in his administration jockeying for credit, and no bluster from him.

In case anyone forgot..

US SPY PLANE MAKES EMERGENCY LANDING AFTER COLLIDING WITH CHINESE FIGHTER JET

Sheriff Bart

We got a plane back from the Chinese in pieces....

Habu

"If these are such great heroes, why are they kept under wraps."

Doesnt matter if they are SEALS or FBI-the end result is the same. Why would you want to publish the names of the operators-so libs can harass them and their families and potentially jeopardize their future missions through matching identities.

You armchair operator idiots never fail to amaze me.
