"I think we are done," said Franken attorney Marc Elias.
Al Franken's net gain in the court-ordered recount of absentee ballots, pushed his lead in the Minnesota Senate race has gone from 225 to 312.
Each time Coleman goes to court, he loses more votes to Franken.
But of course... we are not done... Republican's are Republicans and Coleman's lead attorney Ben Ginsberg is already vowing to take the case to the Minnesota Supreme Court.
Litigate on and on and on. It's what Republicans do when they
lose, closely. Despite the people have spoken and a state is without
half their Senate delegation in one of the most challenging periods in
the last 100 years. Republicans simply want to deny Democrats the powerful vote in the Senate gained by Franken's rightful certification.
"“More Minnesotans voted for Al Franken than Norm Coleman. Nothing Norm Coleman can do in the courts will change that fact." said Elias.
Of the 351 absentee ballots added to the official tally, Franken picked up 198 votes, Coleman picked up 111, and the remaining 42 ballots were for “other” third-party candidates.
Too bad Tinklenberg lost to Bachmann. She equated the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps to re-education camps! That is going a little too far.

She's doing it again, this time saying on a con talk show that Obama was preparing to set up "re-education camps" for our youth. It's all about instilling fear in the people with these republican'ts

I thought the Right did enough of that the past 8 years. If she was not saying things that bordered on crazy, If a Democratic Congressmember would have been saying things like she does, I bet the GOP would be asking for the Dems to reign them in.

Highlander, I know you havenot been here a long time. But if you look back in the pages of this Blog, you'll find many references of "re-education camps" by one of your own, Coiler.
Posted by: nevets | April 07, 2009 at 06:30 PM
Darn, I just used one of them "potty" words.
Posted by: nevets | April 07, 2009 at 06:52 PM
So, steven, you're saying that Bachman is mocking the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps?
Do you think that is befitting a legislator? Making a joke of two fine institutions that do good in America and around the world?
Posted by: joanie | April 07, 2009 at 08:27 PM
Looking at the picture of Franken I have to ask: Don't you just love a man with a great smile?!
Posted by: joanie | April 07, 2009 at 08:28 PM
nevets- Is Coiler a republican congress critter? Bachmann and her irrational public spewage is much more of a threat to everyone's well-being than someone's comments on a blog posting. But do you think Coiler should be admonished?
Posted by: Drew | April 07, 2009 at 08:53 PM
What did I do?
Posted by: Coiler | April 07, 2009 at 08:57 PM
Apparently you offended the tender sensibilities of nevets when you used the term "re-education camps"...
Posted by: Drew | April 07, 2009 at 08:59 PM
Something to do with the john, Coiler.
Posted by: joanie | April 07, 2009 at 08:59 PM
nidbits was troubled over his use of "potty words" here, but I looked everywhere, and I cannot see where he said "republican", "GOP", "Ann Coulter", "Dino Rossi", or other equally offensive terms.
Posted by: Stewie | April 07, 2009 at 09:02 PM
Oh my!
Posted by: Coiler | April 07, 2009 at 09:15 PM
Coiler- since you have been deemed one of "my own" by his highness Sir nevets, and you have been found guilty of using a word more than once that a republican now uses, you are hereby sentenced to 50,000 thousand years However, since you have been on here, by nevets own recollection, for a while now, and it is the opinion of this court that having to explain everything to people like nevets must be frustrating, your sentence is reduced to time served.
Posted by: Highlander | April 07, 2009 at 09:23 PM
and to nevets-
Since stupidity is not a crime, you are free to go.
Posted by: Highlander | April 07, 2009 at 09:24 PM
After the last 8 years of idiot bush, I cannot see why there shouldn't be re education.
Posted by: Coiler | April 07, 2009 at 09:30 PM
Bachmann is one of those that needs to be put in jar with a tight lid and studied in a lab.
Posted by: Drew | April 07, 2009 at 09:32 PM
Coiler- I wanted to change your sentence to 50,thousand,000 years, but I wasn't sure which was less. So I just said to hell with it..
Posted by: Highlander | April 07, 2009 at 09:35 PM
Indeed

No Joanie, I think she was mocking the "Youth Engagement Zone Program." I listened to the tape of her outrage and I never heard her say AmeriCorps. But I can see how Highlander and the other new guys think she did since Kos and RailFan said she did. So of course she must have said it. If only they would click on the buttons. Can you or Sparky teach these guys to do that.
"Youth Engagement Zone Program."
"Such a program is eligible for funding under the bill, and it is defined in the House bill as one that provides school-based or community-based "service learning opportunities" in which "(A) not less than 90 percent of the students participate in service-learning activities as part of the program; or (B) service-learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency."
Now Baghdad Jim has a bill that like these two original "GIVE" and "I Killed MaryJo" Bills calls for the exploration of a "Mandatory Service" in it. Is that something you would support?
Posted by: nevets | April 07, 2009 at 10:07 PM
nevets-
Sen. Hatch said today that he's read the bill, and there is nothing in it that is considered "mandatory"...but if she was mocking it as you say, why would she use a term that would get people upset for no reason, unless that was her intention all along. Bachmann is a fear-mongerer- just last week she was telling the citizens to take up arms. Is this more of her sick style of humor?
Posted by: Highlander | April 07, 2009 at 10:15 PM
This was Bachmann, on KTLK-AM in MN this week, in response to the overwhelming passage of the ServeAmerica Act (funding AmeriCorps)
"I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums."
Posted by: Highlander | April 07, 2009 at 10:38 PM
"or (B) service-learning is a mandatory part of the curriculum in all of the secondary schools served by the local educational agency."
I think the word "mandatory" is there. Correct me if I am wrong Highlander.
And this...
"Sen. Hatch said today that he's read the bill, and there is nothing in it that is considered "mandatory"..."
I believe I addressed that in my post.
"Now Baghdad Jim has a bill that like these two original "GIVE" and "I Killed MaryJo" Bills calls for the exploration of a "Mandatory Service" in it."
Did I not. Again correct me if I am wrong.
