The Ole Cannery

The attacks on Dori Monson are tired and old. The guy's been right on the money about Obama, corrupt Seattle government and the left wing media.

Give me a break!

EvergreenRailfan

What Left WIng Media? The one that was complacent in the run up to the War in Iraq? The one that fired those who were on the left? Some Left Wing Media. As for the Republicans, I love it when Stephanie interviews them. Usually the first question she asks is "What happened to my dad and Barry Goldwater's Republican Party?". She seems to bring him up a lot, and mentioned something. Her father was a prosecutor at Nuremburg War Crimes Trials, I doubt he would be for half the things his party did in the name of fighting terrorists. Sadly, for the country, we will never know, he passed away in 1983, and Barry Goldwater passed away in 1998. Barry Jr did not back McCain in the Primaries, backed Ron Paul instead. Also, I remember once hearing Stephanie Miller say that she might be a Liberal, but she does not like LBJ, for obvious reasons. That began the rise of the negative campaign, but the GOP have perfected it into the art form, and then act like they are the victim of bias, and get a bunch of trolls and other right wingers on blogs to play along.

EvergreenRailfan

As for Dori, what are his plans for July 3rd, will he be on the air when LINK starts up. I would like him on the air, and see if he goes back to his opposition rants on how now shovels of dirt had been turned yet even after construction was underway. In fact, I hope KIRO FM gets picked up in the Beacon Hill Tunnel, play it on the train. Anyway, I always hoped that Bonneville would call him to SLC to get a good look at what is going on there. You got Republicans doing wasteful spending(actually, the UTA is a well-run operation), proposing another tax hike to fund UTA rail expansion while several extensions are currently under construction. I would like to see ST employees go there to see how FrontRunner is operated, it puts SOUNDER to shame, on a more frequent schedule. I listen to podcasts of the news on KSL and Nightside, and they talked about a couple problems with it, mainly too little parking at the stations for demand. Utah is one of the reddest states, yet they have cultural conservative but liberal on transportation spending Republicans running the state, although a change. They are proposing to weaken some of their tough alcohol control laws. Mainly relaxing or repealing the Private Club Rule.

GS

blow up the Dorester. he's a bag balmer. His churndldoche sckracks on his modinsky causing it to drag along the rampeau. He'd bedrziggle with his sis and probbly pizzle his own wee bootay. Catch him on Fridays, he's at his very wurst.

RobP

Stephanie Miller is yet another of those left wing blowhards who can't be entertaining unless they're being a smart ass. And that's why liberal talk is such a non-entity on radio stations nationwide.

I wouldn't put a lot of stock into her "recognition" of Monson's show.

nevets

Ditto RobP

joanie

Smart asses on the left; haters on the right.

I know where I'd rather be.

sparky

It was hi-larious. And this morning, you went national, Bla'M. Stephanie read the above article on the air and gave out the URL for Blatherwatch. Whoohoo!!

Dori brought ridicule on himself by repeating the NewsMax talking points and pretending to be outraged. Somebody notified Stephanie's show and sent her an audio clip. Nobody outside of Seattle has heard of Dori, and his 15 minutes of fame on Stephanie's national show did not put him in a good light. I'm sure the Radio Fertilizer is jealous and will be posting something quite soon in an attempt to bring back a little of the attention Stephanie and Jim gave to "Dori Munsen".

nevets

Would that somebody be you Sparky?

Bammer

Calling someone a Smartass brings to mind a vision of a young person proving an old codger wrong. I can visualize the fart, beady eyes squinting, sweaty arm pit stains, pants pulled up past the belly button. Then knowing you’re wrong, out of the drooling pie hole, comes “smartass”.
Leaving the political stuff aside, Stephanie Miller and Dori handle folks the same. When folks agree with them they celebrate the stupidity of the opposing side. When they disagree the talk hosts try to make the caller look foolish. My only disagreement is with Dori’s faux indignation. Day after day after Dave Ross departs the run up to the Monson show sounds like someone peed in his coffee. Dori’s shtick is getting OLD!!! By the way, Stephanie Miller’s mocking Dori was funny this morning too.

nevets

Here is a liberal group with no sense of humor.

Coiler

How do you know it's a liberal group, did you try to sneak in as a woman?

auburn348

Why give right wing radio nuts even get a whiff of attention.....I've never listened to the "drugster"* & gop leader (*credit to Ed Schultz)and if it wasn't for radio/tv gossip attention I wouldn't even know what that idiot spews. From what is said about what they say, only a fool could believe their nonsense. Also, I haven't listened to Kiro radio since before the lead up to bush's Iraq crime. Okay one concession, it is funny what Miller had to say about that little dori dudette.

AuthenticAndrew

I'd like to listen to Stephanie Miller. Where can I find her show?

RobP

>>Calling someone a Smartass brings to mind a vision of a young person proving an old codger wrong. <<

No it doesn't.

Calling someone a smartass brings to mind a vision of a young person who thinks he/she knows everything about the world, can't learn anything more and is better than everyone else.

And young people do use the "smartass" label too - unless you don't consider 26 to be "young".

Bammer

1090 AM at 6am-9am..Stephanie Miller

Bammer

You are right, young folks use the term Smartass also. But it still brings to mind an old fuddy that doesn't what anyone to challenge his or her thinking.

Cindy

I heard you this morning on Stephanie Miller, Michael. You rock! They can say anything they want, but the right has got nobody that's funny. Their humor is usually gotcha cynicism or violent slapstick like Itchy & Scratchy.

Tommy008

It's all collapsing- our little LOCAL tin god of the right Dori EXPOSED AS THE TINY-TOOLED TWERP HE IS, BUSHLER'S ANTI-SCIENCE CRAPOLA BEING DISMANTLED- and finaly- Barney Frank just announced the Uptick Rule will almost certainly be reinstated within amonth. It was done away with by Bushler in order to enablehis hedge fund shorting crook fatcat buddies to short down good stosks without mercy or justification. Now stocks will be able to sustain extended rallies without being criminally beaten down by greedy bastards. This will bring investors into the market again.

AuthenticAndrew

Tommy008, thanks for informing me of the Uptick Rule, I had not heard of that issues prior to now. It will take years to fully understand how much damage was done under Bush's watch.

RobP

>>You are right, young folks use the term Smartass also. But it still brings to mind an old fuddy that doesn't what anyone to challenge his or her thinking.<<

Well, "what"-ever.

Miller, Maddow, Franken, the list of lefty smart-asses is ever-growing.

Sarge

"the list of lefty smart-asses is ever-growing."
And so is the majority on the left!

Mikey is correct, the right has no sense of humor. That hurts them in the long-run. So many more under-40's get their politics from Jon Stewart than talk radio. In the end, the conservatives inability to get the attention, and hearts & minds of the young will be fatal. Not to speak of Rush Limbaugh and his outspoken racism keeping all manner of minorities voting for Democrats. Between the young and people of color, conservatism has no future.
We heart lefty smart-asses.

WILD BILL

Honestly, who the heck is Stephanie Miller, and what is KPTK? Sorry, my Arbitron ratings only go down to 25. OH, look, there's Dori's show, let's see, oh #1 in his time slot and one the top rated shows in this market. Much ado about static.

Coiler

Do you live in a cave in Arkansas?

AuthenticAndrew

They are both nobodiess in their respective venues. Being the "King of Seattle Radio" says more about what a host isn't doing wrong than it does about what they're doing right.

It's got to hurt a little that everytime an outsider here's Dori's name the first thing they think is "isn't that a girls name?" It's not even intended as an insult as Doris implies, but a legitimate source of confusion. This being Seattle the idea of a transgender talk show host isn't a far fetched notion.

I remember discovering Dave Ross in the ealy 2000's and then hearing him say "Dori is up next" and I heard that he sounded like a man, but not a manly man, and I was convinced for the longest time that he was a fruity sort of guy until I heard what he's actualy about. True story.

nevets

But of course tommy wont tell you that the Libs had a bill on the house floor in July07' to bring back the uptick rule. But they must have seen an opportunity in it causing havoc on the stock market so they kept it in place. Now the damage is done and the election is over and they can look like heros. Way to go libs on burying your heads in the sand when the country really needed you 18 months ago.

nevets

Why do you need to know where he is from Coiler, want to see if he is a neighbor of yours.

sparky

Wasnt me, Stevie. I dont listen to Dorki and I dont know how to send audio to a radio station. But I congratulate whoever it was.

AuthenticAndrew

Bush had veto power and he used it frequently. The Dems didn't bother doing a lot of things knowing that their efforts would be ultimately shot down.

EvergreenRailfan

It is a shame an entire industry grew up to trash anybody left of the right wing(including people in the center), so that people end up hating the very things that the Liberals and Progressives gave us, and now attacked as socialist. Don't want the government providing anything. don't call 911 when you need their services. Why is it a socialist liberal plot to have clean air, or clean water? Seattle City Light(by the way publicly owned, and it also has customers in Shoreline and a few other suburbs, not sure if Lake Forest Park is one of them) provides some cheap power, it has it's problems, but sticking with Hydro, despite some of it's faults, saved one cost, fuel. It was not clean air or radical do-good environmentalists that lead to the Lake Union Steam Plant being short-lived, but visionary City Light superintendent J.D. Ross not wanting to pay for the Bunker Fuel that it used, saw it as temporary until the Skagit Dams were built. I guess the City voters who recalled the mayor who fired him were radical commies. Some saw that move as a hidden attempt to sell City Light,(It was more of the debt on the bad deal the city got for the Seattle Municipal Street Railway purchase, if it had been at what it was valued, they could have had it paid off by 1929) hence they could not wait for the 2-year term of the mayor to end. Sometimes government action does cause a nudge for the market. What does not get the news about radical environmental programs in California, is the Carl Moyer Program. You think that companies like Pacific Harbor Lines, Union Pacific, BNSF, and even the tiny Modesto and Empire Traction are buying clean locomotives because they felt they had to appease lefties? NO, it was better for the bottom line, PR, and they had the incentive program from the very board attacked by right wingers. Now it has some strings atatched, the old belching locomotives have to be disabled, a similar incentive program in Texas has the same goal, but just says the dirty loco has to be moved out of state. Still, there is a huge market being made for cleaner locomotives partly because of this program. At least 6 manufacturers involved, and so far, none of the big boys, and a huge number of switchers and road switchers that need to be replaced.

Oh, anybody want an example of how bad it was before California started cleaning up the air in LA(still not there yet, but the polluters had a half-century head start at least). I was listening to Stephanie Miller last week, and she had on one of the Sanchez Sisters(two sisters in Congress from Southern CA districts), and they brought up Smog Days, and as the producer chimed in saying it was worse in LA than in Orange County(where the Congresswoman wwas from), Stephanie weighed in and said don't get me started on your smog days, she went on about being from Buffalo and they had snow days.

Something about Stephanie Miller, her brother is still a Republican and tried to run for the dad's old seat in upstate New York. He lost, in a year that benefited Republicans, 1994. How does the Goldwater Family treat the running mate's daughter being a Liberal even if they cared? Well, Barry Jr has been a guest a few times, as well as Goldwater's granddaughter CC.

Habu

Isnt the impeached one's ugly daughter a hedge fund employee?

EvergreenRailfan

Another thing that I admire about Stephanie Miller and reading her hate mail on the air, was the one time it was a threatening letter and the guy was stupid enough to leave his telephone number on it. She called him. Sounded like some kind of an institution in the background where he was at. Still, when such stuff is sent towards somebody who is opposed to the mainstream or a fringe, and threatens to use legal means to take them out, such as saying they should be tried for treason, that is the most Un-American. I don't mind people speaking out of turn. That is why we are here in the first place. It's the ways of stifling the descent, and constantly framing the debate. The Congress of 2007-2008 was hailed as do-nothing by the media, but what it was ignoring that it was due to Republican Fillibusters blocking anything that passed the house that
the Republicans did not want passed, but were afraid that an up or down vote would pass it. The very party opposed to the fillibuster when they were out of power.

O.K. if the left don't like Limbaugh, he has the right to be on the air. So does Stephanie Miller, so does the Progressive hosts. By the way, some of the best progressive hosts are not Air America, they just happen to be on the same stations. Stephanie Miller, Bill Press, and Ed Schultz were never part of Air America. Peter B. Collins is an independent production.

sparky

Railfan, surely you heard of Goldwater-Miller '08?

sparky

The uptick rule was put in place during the Great Depression and was removed in July of 2007. It is now being revisited and hopefully will be reinstated by the Securities & Exchange Commission. The rule requires all short sales to follow an uptick in stock price. This has the effect of slowing down market slides. Since July 2007 when this rule was eliminated, short sellers could drive stocks down by selling while the stock slides. This amounts to piling on. Many examples of this have occurred lately when a company misses estimates by a small percentage and the stock tanks 20% or more the next day. This is a regulation that has stood for around 70 years and it’s removal for the past 20 months may have helped the market crash to where we are now.

WILD BILL

NOPE, not Arkansas, Capitol Hill, Seattle, where nobody has heard of Stephanie Miller either. Sorry, Air America is rated very low in the Seattle market, and continues to slide. As far as Left or Right, that's soooooo pre Great Recession. We're all suckers now, and we're all resonsible for the mess. How about that dead cat bounce today?

WILD BILL

BLAM, you need a new pic of The Dorster, though. The Nancy Grace interview one is stale. BUT (to really stir the stew) that's OK because tbtl is Rush Limbaugh's ball sack, pulsating with oxycodone patriotism, tbtl is America's great promise.

nevets

You're right Sparky, sorry. The bill (H.R. 6517) was introdusced in Jul08'. A year later after they seen the problems it was causing. And they let it die. This is exactly what the Libs refer to as "never waste a good crisis."

nevets

Wild Bill, I think he was talking about AA and his post at 10:21 AM.

nevets

Nice info RailFan.

Dont agree with all of it, but vey informative.

WILD BILL

thank you nevets, Oh, and "never waste a good crisis" is what Shrub and Darth Vader and Rummy said, only it was, never waste a good terrorist attack to start an economically crippling War on an unrelated Country, that, while run by heinous scum, did not threaten us. Man, I wish we had that dough back, and the dead people, and I bet the maimed people want their eyes, ears, hands, legs back, too.---sorry, I had to. I just play a moderate on my pretend TV show. zzzzzzzt zzzzzzzzt Agu Gaaaaaareeeeeb BUT, I love Dori Monson's show, I have ever since he started. Can't we all agree to disagree, because I'm right. :) tbtl is geopolitical harmony and a new economic system brewing.

Bammer

RobP:
I didn’t mean to challenge your thinking. Doohhh!!!

Man, it's like shootin’ pigeons on a wire.

Ted Bungee

Without Dori Monson there would be no accountability in WA state government. He's my hero. Can someone please simply answer the question Dori poses everyday...What is Christine Gregoire's response to her 2008 statement..."Dori there is no deficit..."? I am begging this board of intellectually dishonest Washingtonians. Please respond.

Billy Bob

Dori is the new, female, Mike Siegel.

nevets

And to think I thought you were serious when you said who is Stephanie Miller there Wild Bill. But I thought the politically correct liberal saying was that the Iraq War was for "Oil".

Thinking of those that died protecting our country, Dont you think it would be nice to have all those that died and were maimed in WWI, WWII, (like Iwo Jime, D-Day), Korea, and Vietnam back also. What happened, couldn't come up with some cute nicknames for those Presidents. Wilson, FDR, Truman, Ike, Kennedy, Johnson, and Nixon.

WILD BILL

but Mike Siegal IS neither male nor female, he has a little scaly nub thing that buds with juicy greenish milk polyps that burst in a flacid wind, like a silent fart, a chalky foul one, as if from an old dust woman; it developed when he lied and lied and lied about Mayor Rice, of Seattle, a ways back, for the global audience that devours this much loved blawg. DORI? Why he's the king of Market 13, check the facts, Jacks (n Jills n "others")OBAMA! President Obama will get us through this darkening night. It's getting worse and worse, folks, the economy WHOOooooooSING in free fall, globally that is; a black hole, kiddie kids. The fawking talking monkey things done did invent an ekonome! :) urp, just the sheeeeeraz talking, Mo Fo's. tbtl is the answer, tbtl is Jesus getting nailed to the cross, Mel Gibson style, WHACK WHACK SPURT OOOZZZEEE anyway, carry on Republicans, yeah.....

WILD BILL

yeah, Republicans, that fat greasy fuck Rush and his oxy sweat will take you to your promised land....ya rubes, hook line n sinker.

WILD BILL

NEVETS, I am, I ain't never heard of her, and I HATE Air America, the 30 seconds I've heard before I shrieked and shot my radio (Yeah, us Dems have been packing for years, too!). I LOVE KIRO. AND I agree, except for WW I and II, that them other wars were BS the same as EyeRack. Nevets, we have more in common than different. After all, we're both Americans! I love meatloaf and mashed taters and gravy. I bet you do too. And NFL football!!! Seahawks! Again, I hate Air America, not cuz of Politiks, but cuz it's really BAD radio, and I love radio.

WILD BILL

SO, Nevets, that seriously means, I read and respect your posts, our connections as CITIZENS of the USA binds us more strongly than anything called a political party, though we both are strongly rooted therein. That makes the USA special, the notion of the LOYAL opposition. I will NEVER doubt that you love your country, as do I!

nevets

"our connections as CITIZENS of the USA binds us more strongly than anything called a political party"

Somehow Wild Bill that sentence dosn't fit with what you posted earlier...

"Shrub and Darth Vader and Rummy said"

So excuse me if I start LOL now.

AuthenticAndrew

Re "there is no deficit", Washingtonians voted for Gregoire despite Rossi's heavy ridicule of the statement prior to his defeat. I don't know how to defend the comment but I don't feel the need to either. That's how democracy works. Is Dori trying to subvert democracy? What is the end game?
