The End's (107.7 FM) got to find another morning guy, after Corolla (5-10a) says goo-bye Friday.

We're not sure where KISW has Tom "Blow me Up"
Leykis hidden away o
n the Seattle dial, but he's been blown up too.
CBS is flipping their LA mother station, KLSX from talk to Top 40.

These giants of Tits & Ass radio must fade to local stations like Randi Rhodes. The collective IQ of FM radio should jump around 7-8 points.
Leykis gave me some laughs and enjoyment over the years but recently one sensed it was time for his show to be put to be DTB'ed, or Dump That Bitch as Tom woud say as he exhorted young mernto kick their girls or wives to the curb. In the final years he'd became a morbidly obese meanspirited, nasty, cynical troll, an evil caricature of his own former self.

No "take me out Michael Phelps style?"

I wonder if The Bob Rivers show is next. CBS let Slayton go in a bloodletting and the programming and on air staff for a show on 1 station is huge.

Good gawd
My son is bitching about Carolla and Leykis getting the boot. What the hell has this world come to. He may be 28 years old, but I'm sending him for a DNA test.
Sheesh.......
Posted by: chucks | February 19, 2009 at 07:51 PM
It takes a big man to admit to something like that, Chucks. My sympathies to you. What is this world coming to, indeed?
I remember fondly when Leykis got what he deserved in Seattle; to be beaten up like the punk he is. And I am not a violent person.

Darrell 420 would try to get into his listener parties
Posted by: Coiler | February 19, 2009 at 08:35 PM
I am indifferent about Leykis getting the boot, but sorry for Carolla. He may be a bit crude, but like his style and he was awesome with Dr. Drew on Love Line and the Man show with Jimmy Kimmel.
Doesn't seem like a good time for radioheads in the age of Obamalot...

I have a feeling that a lot of high paid talent on the airwaves are going to be waving bye bye. If I were on a program that relied on numerous cast members I would not be sleeping well. BJ, Top Shelf, RR, are you listening?
Even if I were the lone windbag, Dave, Dori, I would not be expecting my next contract to fatten my wallet. Face it, advertising dollars are down on all mediums. The next 12 months shall be very interesting.
Posted by: Ryder | February 19, 2009 at 10:33 PM
If I'm not mistaken, isn't Leykis still going to receive 4 year's of severance, the cut off his no-cut contract? I imagine a lot of ex-Boeingistas wouldn't mind a 4-year paid vacation versus the 3 months they're getting. It's a shame about Corolla, though. Maybe he could land the 7-10 shift on KIRO-FM since they're still searching for a permanent host for that spot.

>>I have a feeling that a lot of high paid talent on the airwaves are going to be waving bye bye. If I were on a program that relied on numerous cast members I would not be sleeping well. BJ, Top Shelf, RR, are you listening?<<
Yeah, they're listening all right - while savoring their newly-signed five-year contract with KISW.

Leykis was a loud mouth who prospered with an angry male audience who had it with American women. Little does Tom know or have shown, the personality of the types of women he bashed held no boundaries. They have them in other countries too! Carolla was plain boring but again he was likely appealing to demographics not of my age bracket.
Posted by: rozskat | February 20, 2009 at 10:58 AM
That's a shame - for both. I really enjoyed Carolla's chemistry with Dr. Drew (haven't listened since that break-up). I can recall driving back from Seaside, OR with best friend staying awake only by the aid of Loveline. Good trip. Good times.
I've listened to Leykis back when he was "our guy" and before he cornered the NW Stern Market. I liked his political banter: From the "Bill Maher" wing, if you will. I've always hoped he'd go back to that format (and come home from LAlaland).
Note: My conservative, christian, Ken-Hutcherson-church-attendin' sister LOVED Leykis' NW Stern persona. Fascinating closet these people live in. Always on the edge of my heals for Ken Hutcherson-Gate!

"Darrell 420 would try to get into his listener parties"
I forgot all about Daryll "Bane of all Seattle talk-radio" 420!
Michael: we need to research THAT guy. heheh.
Posted by: mercifurious | February 20, 2009 at 05:08 PM
After seeing a picture of Darryl being hauled out of the Seattle Center by police, I realized that he was the smelly little guy I often saw at the store when I lived up north. I did a Google search but have not found anything so far....
Posted by: sparky | February 20, 2009 at 05:27 PM
i agree with merci regarding leykis pre-howard stern. leykis had a decent show and often would debate with sean hannity. the former producer for leykis went over to work for hannity.

Ken Schram used to have him on his Sunday TV show back in the day.

Adam Corolla is one of the most naturally funny people i have ever listened to. He interviewed guest well with an interest and insight that often drew them out and made them feel at home. It took a while for him to find a formula that worked, i will miss him. Tom Leykis had one of the highest rated shows among a demographic radio stations would die for. Yes his ragging on women became tiresome at times, however he is intellegent, insightful when he talked politics, very connected to his listeners through listener parties, my space and online, and always supported comedians when they were in town. His tasting room wine show is highly regarded. These talented entertainers will not be gone for long. Corolla will be paid ten and half months salary to stay home and Tom had just signed a new contract that will also be paid. To aprilmayjune, no one deserves, not even you to be sucker punched by two cowards while you are outside your hotel on seattle streets. Tom required 17 stitches from those thugs because he had allegedly mistreated them on the air, come on. Also, Michael, regarding your elitist IQ comment, i guess talk radio should just be reserved for those mensa types who listen to NPR.

Tom Leykis is the greatest radio personality. I have enjoyed his shows from here in Ohio where he isn't even on by listening to internet pod casts and bit torrent downloads for the last 6 years. I have saved every show I've ever download, over 20G worth. My twin boys will be required to listen to Tom leykis once they are a little older...
Today was a sad sad day in talk radio.
Posted by: RW | February 20, 2009 at 08:49 PM
yes, as the song goes, " you have to be carefully taught."
Posted by: sparky | February 20, 2009 at 09:19 PM
Leykis is pretty good at debate and sometimes his shows were stimulating - he may be a mysogenist (sp. ?) but he has common sense.
The only person on radio who is better at debate than he is Michael Savage. Hannity isn't bad at debate either and I heard that he'd agree to meeting up with Pres. Obama for a beer if the invitation were extended, in spite of his difference in views with him.
Posted by: KS | February 20, 2009 at 11:44 PM
Yep. Talk radio. All about debate.
I liked Leykis in his early years. Even went to Bite of Seattle just to see him at the KING 1090 booth. He was quite nice and even a little bit humble in those days.
Posted by: joanie | February 21, 2009 at 12:06 AM
dave -not dave ross, when leykis got off the woman hating deal he could be interesting/vibrant/colorful.
in short, someone i would take time to listen to back in the early 90's. but i think he has something against women and it was just tiresome wading through that crap to get to the other stuff.
and then when it came out how he put the beatdown on his fourth wife when they were in boston i pretty much wrote him off.
adam corolla is a very funny man. i really enjoyed him and dr. drew on loveline.
Posted by: Puget Sound | February 21, 2009 at 04:48 AM
Yes Puget Sound i have to admit when i only recently read on his wikipedia page that he had physically attacked his wife i lost alot of respect for him, was that the one he also divorced about five minutes before the sunset clause in his prenup expired?
Posted by: Dave (not dave ross) | February 21, 2009 at 11:37 AM
Leykis is a selfcenterd, selfish scumbag. When he teases his listeners about coming back on radio he's being totally bogus. He's already announced on the air that he would never take a pay cut to do his radio show. Do the math- what radio network would pay him the 3 million plus a year that CBS did, when he let down CBS and betrayed their faith in him by losing New York, Phoenix, Chicago, San Diego, and many other markets over the past several years. Since he has always had a good laugh and sneering, jeering comments when any of his competitors go off the air ,allow me to laugh you out as you go off of KISW and out of town, Leykis. bwahahahaahah You justt weren't as good as you stil thought you were, and kept telling everyone you were dude. He was crowing about how CBS was treating him with such class on Thursday and Friday. DUDE- THEY CUT YOUR LAST DAY,FRIDAY, FROM 4 HOURS TO TWO. kind of like CBS saying "don't let the door hit you on the way out" if you ask me. haha Tom haha Tom

Tommy, you take this stuff way too serious. here I thought your "fascination" with Dori was just your shtick - now I realize you are just mental.
I have not listened to Leykis in over a year - as mentioned before the fame/wealth has corroded him into something loathsome. But B'Lam's comment about IQ is wrong - Leykis would easily best most if not all here.
Posted by: mark | February 22, 2009 at 01:34 PM
Mark, try to bring something substatntive to the table instead of the fact that you don't like my style and tone (purely subjective nonsense on your part - who cares) or that Leykis gives good IQ. IQ is not that important beyond a certain level. As a human being he's a scumbag. And he did fail CBS and fail to earn his 3 million a year by losing key markets. YOU CAN'T refute any of my substantive points about him. They're all true. it's fitting to laugh him out of town and deride/diss him because all he's ever done is deliver a swift kick to the gut and a big horselaugh to his fellows who were fired off the air.
Posted by: Tommy008 | February 22, 2009 at 03:59 PM
gratuitous, childish personal insults "you're just mental, etc." are the last refuge of an insecure, petty peabrained little man, Mark. Wow I posted more than one post about Leykis (wow 2 or 3) to mark his historic firing (he's never been fired in the middle of a huge contract like this, with no place to go afterwards) after not posting a word about him for months and according to Mark the High Judge of Blatherwatch that makes me way too serious and "mental". Maybe I'm just really into takradio Mark. As i said, we're intersted in hearing some substantive comments from you here , if you're capable of them, not your little personal judgements and insults, which taken in total aren't worht more than a warm pitcher of piss. Assclown.

what's wrong? did that hit you in a tender spot there, stalker boy? maybe if you fixated less on what others are doing people wouldn't look at you funny - or maybe not.

Tom Leykis has been a cancer on society. He is an insensitive person without any moral compass beyond making money and having sex. For years, he ridiculed anybody who made a low salary, no matter how important their role in society. He crapped on everybody from nurses to construction workers, solely on the basis of their earning power (or lack thereof). He endorsed mainstream definitions of "beauty" as defined by the advertisers who control Big Media, and although fatter than an elephant, he loved to abuse anybody he considered to be obese.....all part of his rather pathetic self-hate syndrome.
Now, if there is any Karma in the Universe, he soon will learn just how little demand exists for a hate-filled radio babbler in a society that is so very lacking in the people who perform all the REAL work (everything from building roads to treating sewage). Those are the people who should be getting proper remuneration in our society, not some worthless paper pusher on Wall Street or some useless misogynist radio jock.
I am all in favor of men learning how to deal with women, but NOT for treating them like dirtbags. Leykis spewed hate and venom to young generations who desparately NEED to learn tolerance, patience, and appreciation, given that they are so lacking in those particular character traits.

I have listened (off and on) to Tom since the days when he was on KFI radio in Los Angeles, long before his show was syndicated. Indeed, his shows have changed over the years, to the point that he thought that anybody that wasn't up to his level (both professionally and financially) was a loser and (to use his words)a moron. If you could actually get Tom OFF of slamming women all the time, he sometimes had interesting things to say, but as time went along he seemed to get hung up on the women-bashing thing, which I feel was to his detriment. The sad part about his show was that people actually follow his path: use women for whatever purpose you want, then kick 'em to the curb. What a terrible message to impart on others. I guess that horrible attitude is OK as long as you never expect to get married or actually maintain a relationship. Or if you happen to be a wealthy shock jock. Otherwise, not a good philosophy to maintain long term. No need to feel sorry for Tom; he is laughing all the way to the bank.

Most people who don't agree with Tom Leykis are undereducated.

Why did they wait so long to get rid of his ugly boring ass? All he did was say the same crap day in and day out.

i hope Tom is spending time at the gym instead of out drinking wih those two morons Gary and Dino. Tom gave the two their own internet radio show on his media network The New Normal. listening to Gary and Dino shows you why Tom is the master talker. The show is unlistenable.
