2009 could be quite an exciting year on the talk side of the dial with big changes at KIRO, KOMO, KVI and KTTH. The simulcast on FM changes the landscape a bit, so will the Mariner move and so will the PPM. (which doesn't seem to favor news or talk) Now might be the time to make changes in a political year with lots of cume tuned to these stations until the election is over. Change can be good, it can also mess up listening habits. I still have a tough time tuning in to Seahawks games on 97.3, for some reason I prefer 710. Still have them as a button on my radio and rarely go to 97.3. I flip back and forth between KIRO and KOMO to catch headlines or traffic. First trend this week will give some indication if listeners are migrating to the FM dial for news/talk. In all this shakeup I wonder if KIRO will abandon plans to go with Sports on AM, now that KOMO is going right at them with news/talk? Seems KOMO is setting the stage to pick up AM News/talk listeners. Maybe the FM News/talk will be so strong it won't matter.

Yardly Chiropractic..does this mean more of those horrible Purity products? Aren't these stations liable for what happens to the people who buy the crappy vitamins these guys sell, promising all sorts of things? Talk about snake oil...They must be real moneymakers because a lot of the AM stations use them in the wee hours of the weekends.

nevets

"The superhighway of terror between Pakistan and Afghanistan where my helicopter was forced down

The above is from Joe Biden. Sounds like Hillarys sniper moment.

joanie

When I heard Yardley Chiropractic all I could think was infomercial!

That's the sign that a station is in the dumpster for me.

Puget Sound

yep nev
i am really looking forward to his vp debate.

you know they keep harping on mccain's age but the real wonder is biden. he has had some serious health issues and sometimes he just blurts out crazy crap.
like the above story, why put it out in such a way as to make him look like he was taking fire when it was just snowy weather that made the pilot put the bird down? hell, kerry was on that copter with him and he was giving Biden crap about it later.

nevets

Puts, they need to make themselves look like here. They know they are losing this election to a real Hero and need to keep thier base think that they have put thier lives on the line for the little guy when in fact all they have done is screwered them and this country with thier petty politics. They know it is thier fault for taking thier eye off the ball (economy) in an attempt to make President Bush look bad to the American. It has firebacked (mimum wage)and now the President has to ball them out of the hole they have puts this country in.

Two years they have had thier fingers in the cookie jar. Two years. Higher gas prices. Unemployment up. Foreclosures at the highest ever. Two years, and now the Liberals want to put an inexperienced, lying, Chicago thug in the White House. What is wrong with them. FDR and JFK would not be associated with the like of these liberals of today.

Puget Sound

I don't think Dem Icons like Hubert Humphrey, Warren Magnusan, or Scoop Jackson would have much to do with today's party either. They may not be Repubs but we would have a strong third party in their somehow.

FDR and JFK would appreciate Joe Lieberman. Now that is a liberal I respect. He is willing to put country before party. And look what the party did to him.

dana

Do the suits have a death-wish or something?

Duffman

No, I believe he went to KFI in L.A. and is doing quite well.

Ben

That comment shows a shocking lack of understanding of what both FDR and JFK stood for.

Sclub

It's truly over for Fisher. Their cards are on the table and it's one crappy, crappy hand.

Seattle will benefit greatly from the demise of the failed Fisher family, long a burden on the community.

chuck

Ben, the democrat party of today in no way reflects the democrat party of either FDR or JFK.
That party left in the late sixty's and early seventy's.
Gone, capute, history......

nevets

"When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened,'"

Now who said this. If you guessed Biden, you are right. That Hussein sure can pick them can't he.

Puget Sound

Ben
Not only do I stand on that statement history shows that I am correct.
Both JFK and FDR were strong on defense and more liberal on social issues. That is exactly what Lieberman is.

How am I wrong. Don't just denounce it, point out why I am wrong.

Warning: You'll hear from the Joanie fringe who can only denounce and then skedaddles. Please don't go troll like that.

bummer

It is really a bummer that Mouthing Off got cut short before it really had a chance to mature. It was refreshing to hear something other than the same old voices for once... but apparently there is only room on KVI for Kirby (Both physically, and literally).

Frmr KVI Listener

I haven't listened to KVI since Bryan Suits was canned last year... Didn't even know of the shakeup HA!KVI SUX

darral good

dave carson caught my email to KVI this morning and he sent me this:

WHEN IS THURSDAYS SHOW MEETING? why can't I just call on OPEN LINE TIME?
could it be too tragic?

HoChiMinh

DUDE! Timely response.

Duffman

Timely, I would say so. I was having anal bleaching done btw. I may be back next month.

sparky

Darrel420 long time no see. Darrel, unfortunately you are persona non grata when it comes to calling in. Bummer.

HoChiMinh

I see someone is still in love with duffman and anal bleaching. How holesome.

sparky

"holesome"...that's clever.
