~~ It was his really big 15 minutes. Anchorage talk host Eddie Burke (KBYR m-f 2-5p) had the career-building spunk to pronounce the women's rights group, the Alaska Women Reject Palin "socialist, baby killing maggots."
(photo: Eddie Burke: "I am a normal Alaskan.")
They're the group who sponsored an Anchorage demonstration Sunday protesting Sarah Palin.
Burke also gave out the organizers' home and cell numbers on-air exposing them to floods of hateful, abusive, intimidating calls. Up until Friday, the ladies thought there'd only be about the 10 of them showing up, as per usual for their protests. Then Burke shot off his bazoo on the radio; the crowd of angry liberals swelled to an unheard of 1500. The demonstration was heard round the world, instead of around town and Burke got his moment in the midnight sun. "I used the words socialist, baby killing maggots," said Burke in a kind-of apology, but hastened to add, he's only taking back the part about the maggots. A dick. Indeed. Listen here. Not to be elitist, (you know us) but Burke self-describes in a station bio: "A high school dropout, Eddie did eventually earn his GED through self teaching and discipline. It was during this time when he realized that the Government did not really represent the people. It was within this realm of political thought that he discovered his conservatism that his audience loves so much. His rough and tumble radio personality thrills us all. This self made man eventually owned his own gas station, of which he learned the intricacies of the oil business. It is with this insight into the distain of government in the oil industry that he brings to the radio world truth and justice."
~~ with the bottom dropping out of Wall Street, and the biggest reshaping of the financial industry since the Great Depression, we're confident the American people will keep their faith in the dishonorable, dandruffy, Olde Guy who says "the fundamentals of the economy are strong," and is reading the Cliff's Notes for economics; while his little ol' gal's got a moose hangin' in the garage for a rainy day. It's that old Herbert Hoover Republican "Two chickens in every garage" policy. When will you people get it? They run real good but can't govern their way out of a paper bag. These Republicans...
~~ Now that the culture wars are back on
(as if we didn't have enough wars at the moment --we might as well
fight about abortion again) Fox News-midgets think it's OK to mock Rachel
Maddow
as the "Lesbian Air America host." If they want seckshul peckerdilloes and philandering talent brought into the picture, we say bring it on! How 'bout we
refer to the Adultering Horndog Brit Hume, or the Other Woman Meghan Kelly, or Creepy Heterosexual Bill O'Reilly?
Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes have taken office dandlings to new heights, and ultimately to divorce courts and shed their wives for lithesome, young underlings. Gimme a good, clean, monogamous lesbian any day.

~~ Doing the news R-E-A-L ...S-L-O-W with Dave Ross ) KIRO m-f, 9a-12p) is not nearly as satisfying as the Slo-Reilly Factor. h/t to Boingboing.
~~ Invasion of the pods: Seems lots of people have grokked you can listen to commercial radio sans the ridiculous commercial spotload that's driven so many away. According to a recent Pew Internet study, net users are downloading more podcasts. In 2006, only 7% of users had downloaded a podcast; that's more than doubled in 2008 to 19%. More men than women report downloading podcast. It's not yet a permanent daily fixture among net users -- just 3% of all those surveyed download podcasts on a typical day. Of those who download podcasts, 17% do so regularly.

~~ Who kilt Dori? Reports that
when Dori's out of town he wears a kilt persist. Sightings have been
reported in Gig Harbor, and believe it or not, at a motel in Carson
City, Nevada. After saying for months on his show he wouldn't be caught
dead in a kilt, he allegedly was spotted in both Denver and St.Paul wearing the wee skirties stylish to certain underwear-averse gentlemen, and those who emulate the right-wing role models of Braveheart.
(photo: does it make you think of Dori's junk?)
Why don't more men show off their legs in skirts? The problem is that in recent history there has been a feminine connotation to skirts, even though men have worn them for centuries, according to Andrew Bolton, associate curator of the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. "Men feel if they wear it (a skirt), their masculinity will be called into question. But if you've even seen a man in a skirt, the first thing you think of is male genitalia," he said. Our KIRO source says Dori read that Mel Gibson was reported to have ordered one of the man-skirts (or skorts) from the local UtiliKilts, and got one himself, and allowed himself to be photographed (left) on one of his skirty sprees out of town. First thing we thought of was NOT Dori's genitalia but after his lip -o-suction last February, the kilt, and that new do: we are thinking midlife crisis for the rabbit-faced one.
See folks Bla'M is losing it, probably from over-work on this blog. Get those cards & letters with those $donations in as soon as possible.
I believe today is 09/15/2008. [smile]

I'll send in money if Duffman is banned.
Posted by: Coiler | September 15, 2008 at 08:37 AM
I'll ban myself if you send in $100 and Bla'M confirms it. How 'bout that?
Posted by: Duffman | September 15, 2008 at 08:55 AM
You let Coiler off way too cheap Duffy.
She needs to come up with some serious money. One hundred bucks is not a drop in the bucket from Coiler's vast financial resources. It is certainly not enough to justify our losing your input and wisdom on this fine blog.
Come on C, a huge cash investment in Bla'Ms free speach 'cause free speach does not come without costs.

I don't trust duffman on his word. So, I'll send in $50 for the first half and the other 50 after I've proven him to be a liar.
Posted by: Coiler | September 15, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Here's the challenge re-coil (after you've spouted off so quickly). As soon as Bla'M confirms receiving at least $100 from you (and by all means give more if you can)...I'll be history. Simple and straightforward as that. And, that is a promise!
So let's all see if you'll put your $money where your smartass mouth is. I'm betting you won't.
Posted by: Duffman | September 15, 2008 at 11:12 AM
What I said must have been important. Why else would it be posted twice?
Posted by: chucks | September 15, 2008 at 12:22 PM
Tzipi Livni is to Isreal, what Sarah could be to the USA. We (they) just need the 'gumption' to elect both. This is a milestone time in history, make no doubt about it. Let's not let Rome burn (in either scenarios).
Posted by: Duffman | September 15, 2008 at 02:04 PM
Hey! Listen up all you American Whiners! Lindsey Graham's The-Recession-is-All-In-Your-Head Cases! Just because the stockmarket lost FIVE HUNDRED points today, Herbert Hoover...er..John McCain wants you to know that the economy is moving right along and if you think its a bad thing, well you just hate America's workers! So go back to talking about important stuff like lipstick and bridges!
Posted by: sparky | September 15, 2008 at 05:48 PM
Yes indeed the Washington State Pension Plan lost big time today as their investiments are basically in the index of American stocks, et al.
Posted by: Duffman | September 15, 2008 at 06:00 PM
that should read Phil Graham, not Lindsey. Same assholiness.
Posted by: sparky | September 15, 2008 at 08:20 PM
The best news of the day? Paulson isn't bailing out Shearson Lehman. I love it. Even he's had enough.
Reagan's politics coming home to roost - finally.
Joseph Stiglitz on Ron Reagan's show today - "historic day" - Greenspan - "historic day"
God, what you rethugs have done to our country and economy. The only good thing about it is that you're all going to suffer as well.
I hope big time!
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 08:49 PM
And you pea brains are talking about is who's going to pay most - least - when for a blog that's hardly worth reading anymore.
You're all freeloaders anyway.
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 08:51 PM
Oh wait! The expert on economy, "dollar-signs-in-her-eyes Palin" will get us out of this right?
Just like she did her teeny weeny little town of Wasilla which had a surplus until she came along...
OH, she's a repuglican all right.
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 08:56 PM
I'm surprised you didn't call her town Wasilly like Obambam did. Vice Presidents usually don't do diddley squat for the economy. What did Al Gore do for the economy when Clinton was President ? Nada. Cheney did little of anything about the economy. The media and you are being ambulance chasers to pave the way for the ballyhooed regime of Hussein from the Demagogue party.
Bush and Clnton's deregulation of the banking industry (in the late 90's) led to the debacle in the finance industry. This occurred on Bush's watch, but Congress was also sleeping. Pathetic.
Congress did not want to investigate Freddie and Fannie because the influential ones Dodd, Schumer and Obama had their campaigned well-financed by them.
Posted by: KS | September 15, 2008 at 09:22 PM
Oh, Klueless, you so effortlessly omit McCain's name. Why is that?
Are we honesty-challenged on the right these days?
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 09:33 PM
Here are the quotes I was looking for:
"No one can rightly deny the fundamental correctness of our economic system." --- Herbert Hoover, 1928
"The fundamental of our economy is strong." --- John McCain, 2008
"The fundamental of our economy is strong." --- George W. Bush, 2008
History doesn't repeat itself... it rhymes!
Plenty of blame to go around on why it happened....but McBush is not equipped to fix things because he doesnt think there is a problem.
Posted by: sparky | September 15, 2008 at 09:34 PM
Joanie
I can just see you (stopping post to vomit) rubbing yourself to orgasmic bliss because so many people are taking a bath. So many boomers are going to have to work longer before retiring, retarding the options for young people entering the work force.
We told you last year that this was going to happen. I have said that in the past, when there was no incombent POTUS that the party out of power would drive the economy in to the tank. The Dimocraps have done an outstanding job. Congratulations.
Now, I do hope that you followed my advice and moved your retirement funds in to the fixed account portfolio late last year, when I reccomended it to you. I would hate to subject those poor children to another three years of you because you lost your money on the market.
Now you want that young inexperianced dumb fuck obambam to save the country. Between him, peelosi and Dingy Harry, we would be totally screwed.
Posted by: chucks | September 15, 2008 at 10:01 PM
Oh, and mark this little aside. I believe that the market will bottom out with the Dow between 8000 and 8500.
When it hits 8500, it is time to get back in.
Posted by: chucks | September 15, 2008 at 10:04 PM
gee, chucks, most people think we already are - screwed that is.
Actually, you called it "safe harbor" and I didn't know what that was. So, I'll ride it out like everyone else.
I'm still working. Are you?
What's the interest on your fixed account?
And, yes, everybody knows it was the dereg of Reagan but you'll never admit it will you? This didn't happen overnight. Wonder why the regs are suddenly important to you boys on the right? If anyone looks uncomfortable right now, it's Paulson. Most people have a lot of respect for that guy. He's in an unwinnable situation thanks to you and yours.
BTW, it isn't money that makes me orgasmic. Please don't judge everyone by yourself, chucks.
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 10:09 PM
I'll probably follow that little piece of advice, chucks.
And thanks.
That is, if I've got any money left at all...
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 10:10 PM
and why are you up so late?
Posted by: joanie | September 15, 2008 at 10:13 PM
"Plenty of blame to go around on why it happened....but McBush is not equipped to fix things because he doesnt think there is a problem."
Sez a progressive - Hah ! What a friggin joke ! Obambam is not equipped with his income redistribution Robin Hood socialism schemes and universal health care for all which will break the back of this country's economic system and force us into more Government control (i.e. socialism a la Western Europe). I believe that McCain needs to rethink some of his tax cuts and incorporate equivalent spending cuts to get the economy going again and at the same time get the government out the way !
Also put Sarah Palin out there on some non-liberally biased show - put her on O'Reilly first, then some of the Sunday News shows to show what she is really made of - most of the rest of us know that she will do OK.
Posted by: KS | September 15, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Sure...she can just hire more lobbyists to get us money from.....somewhere...yeah, that's it. We will all be ok then.
Posted by: sparky | September 15, 2008 at 10:43 PM

Does that mean you're not contributing?...one who uses up more of Bla'M's bandwidth than anyone herein? WOW, what a fine representative of a true liberal-progressive [sort of like Sen Biden]
Posted by: Duffman | September 16, 2008 at 06:19 AM
You've become a joke, duffman. Too bad.
Posted by: joanie | September 16, 2008 at 07:56 AM
...skeddadle, yet again; what's new. Never mind me why don't you pony up? Much like re-coil...just a bunch of hot air. Lo siento mucho.
Posted by: Duffman | September 16, 2008 at 08:01 AM
joanie, Duffman just wants us to ask him how much HE has given. He has no clue who has given what.
Posted by: sparky | September 16, 2008 at 10:13 AM
No I don't care how much anyone has given (except re-coil), I would expect that those who have benefitted with many hours of entertainment (& informed data) thanks to this blog would respond as best they can when the provider asks. Simple as that; you're wrong again as usual.
Posted by: Duffman | September 16, 2008 at 10:23 AM
That must be Dori's libertarian streak showing through- he believes he has a right to strut around in a kilt, by God. And by God,as an American, or Amurrican,as Dori would say, he has a right to open Dori's "Whites Only" Diner and make the rest of you like it. Well,at least tolerate it, since he believes he should be able to do this legally- i heard him say so, on the air, this summer. Of course it was only a hypothetical used to demonstrate his libertarian philsophy of individual rights.Of course he'd never open a diner like that himself. Uh- you never would, would you,Dori?

Don't you just love how Nancy Pelosi yet again absolves herself & Congress of any responsibility for our economic turmoil. What an incredible leader!
Posted by: Duffman | September 17, 2008 at 08:28 AM
A little Pre-emptive Strike before the 'blame' starts getting tossed around herein.
Posted by: Duffman | September 17, 2008 at 09:23 AM
I found this on DailyKoss just now:
Here is a look at McCain’s back-and-forth on regulation during the last 24 hours:
- Deregulation: McCain issued a statement Monday morning saying that “we cannot tolerate a system that handicaps our markets and our banks.”
- Regulation: McCain’s campaign then put out an ad calling for “tougher rules on Wall Street.”
- Deregulation: This morning, on NBC’s Today Show, McCain said, “Of course, I don’t like excessive and unnecessary government regulation.”
- Regulation: Then, on CBS’s The Early Show, McCain said, “Do I believe in excess government regulation? Yes.”
- Both: On CNBC’s Squawk Box, McCain said, “We don’t want to burden average citizens with over-regulation and government bureaucracy...And I’m proud to be a Teddy Roosevelt Republican, who said, ‘unfettered capitalism leads to corruption,’ and we’ve got to fix this.”
This old fart needs to go to an old people's home.

While Sen Obama apparently got the endorsement of several women's groups he didn't get THIS Lady !
Posted by: Duffman | September 17, 2008 at 02:30 PM
Hats off to Lynn Forester de Rothchild ! Smart lady...
Agreed, Pelosi is the absolute worst Speaker of the House there has ever been. Her phony energy bill which actually made drilling offshore more restrictive will help the Dems a lot in their bid to be reelected. Way to go queen of the face-lifts !
Earlier, I would have said an Obama loss could be blamed on her. Now, with all of the thuggery from his surrogates - hacking into the Palin's email accounts, race baiting both by him, his surrogates and being duplicitous - a loss by Obama can be pinned squarely on his tactics; divide and conquer (which race-baiting tries to do) and the inability to control his surrogates. His plan for the economy is pathetic - no more than smoke and mirrors - he just loves to hear himself talk - Obla-bla.
We are beginning to get a good look at how ugly and corrupt Chicago-style politics is, Mssrs. Axelrod and Obama.
Posted by: KS | September 17, 2008 at 06:43 PM
Along with a more thorough vetting of the Dalai Obama's Chicago dealings, I think we need to completely vet the history of FDR and any possible connection he has/had with the good Senator.
Posted by: Duffman | September 19, 2008 at 06:21 AM
'..government intervention...essential...'
Per Pres Bush...minutes ago. Never thought I'd hear those words from a died-in-the-wool 'Republican'.
Is hell about to freeze over?
Posted by: Duffman | September 19, 2008 at 08:06 AM
...ergo, our financial system/economy has ostensibly been 'Nationalized'...WOW, INcredible!
...and our lovely and gracious Governor had better act soon on the State's pension system...cause it ain't lookin good!
