First BPP, then Tony Snow. It's the Summer of Tears. Who's next? Dr. Laura? Bob Brinker? Paul Harvey?

Duffman

RIP and God Bless Tony, I enjoyed you and I will pray for your family. A great loss in every aspect of life.

joanie

Just read a bio of Snow and it's impressive. He played the guitar, sax and flute and his education focused on philosophy and economics.

And his mother died of colon cancer at age 38.

Lots of questions here. How does such a guy become a Bushie? Not catch colon cancer sooner? Not have an empathy for all the people left behind by this Bush administration?

I would never have admitted it, but I did like Snow. He was charming and fun. But, oh, those politics!

Puget Sound

Spot on Duffman.
As always you impress as you are not one with one of those 'limited minds' -still locked in the playground mentality- that must see everything through a political prism. Interesting that some people can't evolve to the point that they can respect a different opinion regarding politics.
Sure does explain a lot...

Puget Sound

Some interesting comments from 3 ABC reporters on Tony Snow.

SATURDAY JUL 12, 2008
Tony Snow's Death: ABC Correspondent Statements
Statement of Robin Roberts:
I was so privileged to do what was considered his exit interview from the White House, and Tony was one of the first people to reach out when I was diagnosed with breast cancer almost a year ago. For those of us battling cancer, he was beyond inspirational. We are deeply saddened by his passing but will not forget his valiant fight and the lessons he taught us all. I'm thinking of his wife Jill, his three children and his many close friends and family and they can hold their head high knowing that all of us want to exit this earth and leave it a little bit better than we found it and he certainly did that.
Statement from Martha Raddatz:
Tony Snow approached his daily briefings like a chess player. He was always challenging, always thinking ahead and, with that twinkle in his eye, you knew he was always enjoying it. He made everyone in that briefing room a better reporter. But what was most inspiring about Tony is that he walked into that room ever day with an appreciation for life and family that was truly remarkable. On his darkest days, he never stopped smiling and never stopped hoping.
Statement from Ann Compton (WHCA president):
Tony Snow broke the mold as White House Press Secretary. With no experience as an official spokesman, he was accessible to reporters and fair in debates over how we covered the President especially as we rebuilt the White House press briefing room. On a personal level, Tony never held grudges against journalists with whom he jousted. Tony Snow had no self-consciousness. He came to the podium and briefed on camera as his hair thinned and greyed from cancer treatment. And he did love to debate from the podium.

minsky

Puget Sound- Has one person on this thread, "still locked in the playground mentality" portrayed Snow's death"through a political prism?"
No.
When I think of Duffman, I think "evolved." You and he are two reasons I've stopped coming to this blog to comment. What a couple of blowhards...

Puget Sound

yes minsky, you have such a 'track record' of being on this blog. so many posts. just another one hit wonder nom de plume that is used to do the scut work of another.

Wild Bill

He was an arrogant right wing hack for FOX and then he took those same "skills" to shilling Shrub's and Dick's slime trails. Sure, I'm sure he was a good father, and that the family dog wagged its tail when Tony scratched its purebred ears. Still, he WAS a willing, eager member of this lawless, corrupt, lying, vulgar, violent, heinous, Constitution bashing, America destroying, Soldier killing, torturing Administration. He ain't no saint. It happens to the best of us. Happens to the rest of us. Get off the cross you hypocrites, we need the wood. So, non plume this and look at it through your prisms. Yeesh!

Rich Johnson

My first day at Fox News Radio in May of '05 was also Tony's first day back after his original bout with cancer. We had the typical 'passing relationship' in the halls, but that was more me than him. He always.. always... had time to chat regardless of the subject. And he was always ready to put up his ideological dukes.
No matter what your location on the spectrum, you have to respect Tony for walking his conservative talk. He was the real deal when it came to family values, faith and all that other stuff that so many others have betrayed.

chuck

Tony Snow was a very nice person according to those who knew him on a personal basis. Snow was a pleasant voice on the radio. None of the vitriol of Rush or Randi.
His was a reasoned voice that half of us in this nation enjoyed.
I am sorry for Wild Bill and others who are so full of hate and bitterness that you feel that you must spew venom at any point. But it is your miserable life, so live it.

KS

A classless comment by Wild Bill - there's always one in the crowd. I echo the sympathy of others for his family and agree or disagree with his politics, he seemed amiable and was a class act. Another big loss...

Wild Bill

Yeah, I'm sure Hitler's press corps were actually good people. We must be classy and rise above one's crass feelings and ignore the message and make all nice to the messengers. Like, I said, it happens to the best of us, and it surely happens to the rest of us. After all, there might be something classy or civil that the shining young man is telling us about Adolf's incinerators,,,Iraq War, spying on innocent people, stealing elections, American torture, bald faced lies, thousands and thousands maimed, and TS standing there spinning it with a shyte chewing grin. Naw, he ain't no saint; he willingly, eagerly joined The Team. His stinks the same as mine or yours. Now, I have to go get my beret and prayer spinner and join Councilman Licata for a poetry reading at that Rainier Beach traffic circle.

Puget Sound

I recall Bryan Suits discussing how helpful Tony Snow was to him while he was over in Iraq.

Thank you Rich Johnson for sharing your thoughts.

KS

Wild Bill has divulged his identity as a full fledged vitreolic moonbat. Attitude is a choice...

michele

So, if something happens to Randi Rhodes, will you show the appropriate sadness and respect?

Fuck Neo-Cons

Yes, Tony is DEAD. He could of had more respect he he'd done an "Atwater" and asked for forgiveness for the lies he told on FOX news and for sucking Bush' cock all these years. He could of done a Scott McClelland and told the truth about why 4100 americans are DEAD.
Some Tony Snow boners:
"Suggested Democrats objected to Bush's warrantless spying because they think the "government should not be able to listen to Al Qaeda": While speaking to Fox News political analyst Bob Beckel, Snow suggested that "Democratic opposition" to the warrantless domestic surveillance program arose from the belief that "the government should not be able to listen to Al Qaeda people talking to American citizens." Further, Snow claimed that the lack of additional domestic terrorist attacks was "a sign of [the program's] success." As Media Matters has noted, this false claim was first made by White House senior adviser Karl Rove during an address to the Republican National Committee at its winter meeting and was quickly spread as a talking point by numerous conservatives. But, contrary to Rove and Snow's assertion, no national Democratic figure -- member of the Democratic leadership in Congress, Democratic governor, or Democratic Party official -- has said that the United States should not be intercepting calls suspected to involve Al Qaeda. Moreover, Snow's claims about the program's effectiveness are not supported by the evidence.

More Tony Snow lies:

"Falsely claimed that Wilson said Cheney had sent him to Niger: Snow claimed in his July 15, 2005, column that former ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV said he "had been dispatched by [Vice President] Dick Cheney to conduct a secret mission to Niger." In fact, Wilson never claimed that Cheney sent him on the trip. To the contrary, he wrote in his July 6, 2003, op-ed in The New York Times that the CIA requested he go on the mission "so they could provide a response" to questions raised by Cheney regarding allegations that Iraq had attempted to purchase uranium from the African country."

More shit from Tony Snow Job

Stewart explained that Snow “was adamant months ago that the dismissal of these attorneys had nothing to do with politics.”

He rolled video of Snow from March 15, saying: “It’s pretty clear that these things are based on performance and not on sort of attempts to do political retaliation, if you will.”

Stewart: “So anyway, that was three months ago. Three months later, a dozen subpoenas, six hearings, . . . thousands of released e-mails, it turns out that their performances were actually pretty good. And all signs are now pointing to political motivations. I wonder how the White House is going to reconcile this apparent discrepancy?”

Stewart then rolled video from Wednesday’s briefing, at which a reporter asked Snow: “At the beginning of this story, the President, you, Dan Bartlett, others said on camera that politics was not involved, this was performance-based, but –”

Snow’s reply: “No, that is something — we have never said that.”…read on

F*** Neo-cons is certified sicko moonbat. He just applied moonbat rule no. 5.0. Western State is looking for head cases like you...

Rule 5.0 - Americans share our moonbat values. However never, ever campaign on Moonbat values because Americans are stupid and will never actually vote for Democrats if they really KNEW they shared our moonbat values.
Rule 5.1 - Never, ever under any circumstances admit rule 5.0.

joanie

This is disgusting to any normal person.

Sputsie, chucks and KS turned it into a thread about me and then about other posters.

The thread is about Tony Snow. People have a choice to like him or not like him. The point of this thread is to talk about him.

And, fyi, sputsie, minsky used to post quite a bit. A lot of people did.

Whether they got tired of me or tired of you, we'll may never know.

But one thing is certain, you are a sanctimonius blowhard.

chuck

joanie
Leave me out of you fantisy. I did not make it about you (unless you are Wild Bill). When I posted my comment, the only thing you had posted was respectful and kind of warm.
Unless you are the one suggesting having intercoarse with "Neo-Cons", we don't have an issue here.

Puget Sound

joanie
include me out also. i didn't mention you at all. if you saw yourself in it then so be it. i had just come from looking at the huffington post and daily kos before landing and posting something nice about both tony snow and duffman (who is definitely not a republican).
lets all of us take a page from tony snow's book and become a tad nicer. so get out and enjoy the day.

Puget Sound

Juan Williams -one of my favorite pundits/authors- penned a nice tribute to Tony with some stuff you may not know about Tony.

Thank you Juan.

Just About Tony

WILD BILL

Why, some of my best friends are named Juan!

joanie

Yes, chucks, you are one of the "other posters" who piled on.

am sorry for Wild Bill and others who are so full of hate and bitterness that you feel that you must spew venom

You are not sorry for anyone. You just throw your little stones pretending they are candy pellets. That's why I'm not nearly so nice to you. Charm does not hide venom or change it. It is just as poisonous when wrapped in charm.

And as far as duffman is concerned, who cares if he's a republican or not? What's that got to do with anything?

He's on the right a whole lot more than I am. But, so what? And what does that have to do with Snow?

Sputsie, keep your tad to yourself. I'm not interested in it. Just another sanctimonious and disingenuous post.

chuck

How much is it for an ounce of whatever it is you are smoking joanie? It has been 25 years since I tried anything like that. Could it be 'shrooms? Never tried them.
You're alternate reality is concerning, but I guaranty that you were not on my mind when I posted. Pretty sure that when I have a problem with you, you know it. I try to be a little more direct with you. Sometimes details on situations confuse you.
Come back to reality joanie. We have many things to disagree on without you making or dreaming shit up.

joanie

`Details confuse me? You didn't turn your post into an attack on wild bill? Yes or no?

That's exactly what I said.

And if you had any balls, instead of taking me on, you'd be taking on sputsie for his stupidity and dishonesty.

His post was obviously a response to mine. His post was obviously not about Snow. Just as his posts are almost always about me.

But you big, burly lovable chucks - you're really just like him. You drop your own bombs and run. So, now the alcohol is sputsie's default and your's seems to be what I'm smoking.

Try addressing the issues once in a while, chucks. I might actually regain some respect for you.

Puget Sound

Actually Joanie, the post had nothing to do with you.
I was praising Duffman for his nice words for someone on the other side of the political aisle.
Given that he normally supports Dems (Hillary, Obama, Gregoire) I don't think he follows the same politics as Tony Snow.
So again, it was to Duffman for his honest warm words of respect to one in another party. Mature adults do that and I was being appreciative.

Wild Bill

I don't ride Fox Transportaion much, how much does a token cost?

chuck

So joanie, are you saying that hou are Wild Bill? If so, then yes, you are one of the mean spirited for no valid reason people to whom I was refering.

WILD BILL

UH, ain't nobody round here name of Wild Bill, 'cept Wild Bill, and that's me...The Neo Cons will not be forgiven. Blowback comes from the strangest places Chuck. Yin and Yanger, and so on. Is youse the same Chuck G that posts on My NW.com?...now to keep this post on track, Tony Snow was a shameless shill for the worst Admninistration in US history. That's not disrespect. That's just fact.

KFI Bryan

Tony was determined to have my voice on his show as often as the Army allowed while I was deployed. He frequently called just to say hi and ask if there was anything I needed. Then he would call my wife and check up on her (they met at a KVI event). When I got back, he was adamant about parlaying my experience into a new job. I didn't listen (insert chortle here). When I got settled at KFI Los Angeles (America's #1 news/talk station), he was one of the first to call and congratulate me. In a business filled with phonies, he was a rare real deal.

chuck

Not me Willie, have never posted there. I am glad to see that you are not joanie. Although she and I see eye to eye on very little, I do respect her intellect and compassion for others (on the left anyway).
Joanie has a measurable IQ. That is something that I saw no sign of in your postings.
Anyway, nice to meet you. I hope that you are not always an obtuse asshat.

joanie

Has one person on this thread, "still locked in the playground mentality" portrayed Snow's death"through a political prism?"

Oh, so that's duffman. Okay.

Trying to turn off italics -see if it sorks.

Will Bill

Chuck, I prefer to steal the line from Danny Glover to Gene Hackman in The Royal Tennenbaums,,,,paraphrased, about myself,,,I ain't an asshole, just a son of a bitch...BRYAN, good to hear from you,,,I loved you on KIRO710 but couldn't follow you to that John Carlson buzzing crackling Fisher Flour Mills frequency. I loved that you and Webb were on the same station...But, personally, I have no respect for ANY member (living or dead) of this Administration except for Secretary Gates, who restored my faith, and Colin Powell, who is a Great American. Anyway, I loved your KIRO710 show, Sir. And I thank you for your distinguised Military Service...now, back to the cause: Neo Cons Will Not Be Forgotten or Forgiven....

joanie

Bill, he called you an asshat, not an asshole.

That's cuter, you see.

Chucks always shoots from the back seat. He's just as lethal, but he thinks you won't notice.

Part of his charm, I guess.

Wild Bill

I got it Joanie, but thank you for your interest. Donations can be given to WA State Democrats. It's time to clean the toilet bowl and flush the Bushies into the sewers. RIP Tony Snow.

Authentic Andrew

Wild Bill and Joanie both seem to have the same 'problems' with turning off the italics among other shared personality traits.
I think it helps to clear the air a bit on who is Wild Bill.

To KFI Bryan, thank you for the nice story on Tony Snow.

Wild Bill

You're in italics too, Professor Andrew....yes, let's all be nice...ok, Kumbyaaaa, My Dietey or Non Diety of your choosing or non-choosing, Kumbyaaaaa....

Authentic Andrew

Correct WB! So much for that Theory.

Please resume your tirade.

KS

Sputsie, chucks and KS turned it into a thread about me and then about other posters.

The thread is about Tony Snow.

Omit me - you are too quick to judge and get your skivies in a wad and if you check back, I didn't specifically criticize your thread. Yes, the thread was about Tony Snow and your comment seemed reasonable. Maybe it was your own confusion and paranoia that led to believe that we were, unless you wrote under wild bill or fu*k neo-cons. Your response to nevets does not sound entirely coherent, like you are under the influence and only you know the truth.

Nothing is really gained by all of this polarizing claptrap and if that's the way whoever wants it to be, life is too short to be a party to this spoiled brat behavior and see ya.

joanie

OMG! Sputsie's been cloned!

Fear for your blog, Michael.

See ya? One can only hope, Klueless.

Herbalizer

Glad the dumb fuck is gone.

I hope he suffered greatly. Fucking liar.

Maria

Michele, Your grammar as well as your comments are atrocious. I believe you meant to say "could've" which is a contraction of "could have" not "could of" which is simply ignorant.

Wild Bill

HERBALIZER, wishing suffering on one ain't cool, even for a Neo Con shill. Sadism has a big payback, Yin and Yanger wise. It's one thing to say that Snow was a shameless shill for the worst Administration in US history, it's another to wish him pain. My point is not to excuse his participation in this illegal, renegade Administration, and make certain that he doesn't become an Iconic figure in Journalism, because he is not worthy. Maria, has far as rigid grammer rules, fine if you're in the legal arena, or business documentation, etc,,,but chat among folks, let it loose, anything goes....

Duffman

Such references and comments to Snow on a RIP topic is beyond unfair...it's outright vulgar and despicable. You may well reap what you sow...even tho I would never wish it on you. There are plenty of venues and blogs to utter your bile, to do it here just reflects what apparent low lifes you are. I feel sorry for you and your apparent inability to see the world except through that almighty political prism. We're human beings before we're of any particular political persuasion. You should really be ashamed of yourself...and if you aren't, I feel sorry for your parents and what they tried to instill in you.

sparky

Hey, Maria! The word "your" should not be capitalized.

If you try to correct all the spelling and grammar errors on here, you will give yourself a hernia.

sparky

And by the way, Maria, on this blog, the name of the poster is underneath the post, not above it.

Have a great day!

Wild Bill

A stinky is a stinky, Duff, no matter what self-righteous perfumes you exude:

"There are plenty of venues and blogs to utter your bile, to do it here just reflects what apparent low lifes you are. I feel sorry for you and your apparent inability to see the world except through that almighty political prism. We're human beings before we're of any particular political persuasion. You should really be ashamed of yourself...and if you aren't, I feel sorry for your parents and what they tried to instill in you."

Right back at ya....
PS, being human, yours stinks too!
Snow was a shill, once living and now dead. RIP.

Me thinks you need to go get your beret and join Licata in poetry readings and waving of crystals to restore sweet rose colored vision,,,,to heck with reality. I'll view things however I choose, mighty moral Duff, regardless of you.
