The Conversation, the excellent news chat show (KUOW m-f, 1-2p) with Ross Reynolds:
Public documents show that three years ago Washington public-lands commissioner Doug Sutherland inappropriately touched a young female employee. Sutherland apologized. The young woman quit her job. Sutherland told The Seattle Times the touching was meant as a friendly gesture. The documents were provided by supporters of Sutherland's opponent in the upcoming election. Should there be zero tolerance of sexual harassment? What's it like where you work?
I miss the good ol' days when I guy could hit on anything in a skirt that caught his interest. What ever happened to giving a little pinch on the ass to see if there was any reciprocating interest?
How the hell is a guy to get laid if he can't hit on all of the yummy stuff around him at work?
Of coarse those good ol' days were before I ever started working. Nothing like that has been tolerated anyplace I have worked, at least since the 70's.

So, Sutherland's opposition passes out public personnel files with no conclusive ruling, and a "journalist" like Goldy "scoops" it, and posts it on his blog surrounded by Socialist blather. Some scoop. I don't doubt Goldy's facts, such as posting the whole report (which requires lawyers to determine what the various accounts mean). I doubt the Socialist blather that he surrounds them with. I never "believe" anything Goldy says, since I know it always has a socialist agenda behind it. I don't read The Seattle Times, as I don't feel it's even worth wrapping fish guts in, so I guess I'll wait for Tony Minor to break it down.

chuck: go give Carleen Johnson (at KVI) a little pinch like that and SEE if you get 'any reciprocating interest'. haha

I met Carleen the last POTUS primaries when I caucused in Federal Way some eight years ago. Although I found her to be a charming young woman, I was not atracted to her bum. LOL

KUOW's 'the conversation' in this regard: I listened and IMO...generic...bland, and pretty much a non-event. But, thanks for the heads-up Bla'M.

'Tis said that Ms Carleen is more than a little ready for a midlife flking... no action on that inclination as yet, but she is a little twitchy these days.

Getting out the giant Industrial-sized spray can of "Testosterone Be-Gone" to clear the room. Jeez, you guys are pigs sometimes!!!!!! If it was your wives or daughters who got groped....

Sparky
As I look at my post, I see that it just may not properly reflect the message I was trying to convey. No place that I have worked since the early to mid seventy's has tolerated sexual harassment. I have personally counseled others regarding company policy's and terminated two who could or would not learn.
Sorry if I appeared as the pig I was trying to mock.

'If it was your wives or daughters who got groped....'
Well I can tell you in my case:
a. boss man w/have gotten either his face slapped or kicked in the n*** by wife and/or daughters
b. boss man & I (&/or likely my sons-in-law) w/have arranged a face-to-face with said boss man, and a 'stern' discussion would have taken place
...just sayin!

yes, chucks, I knew you were kidding! If I had really been offended, you would have known it. And I would have called your wife. heh.
Duffman, that was my thinking...it is only because she appears to be a sweet YOUNG thing that she even began to tolerate it. Any woman with a tad more self confidence would have not stood silent.
Posted by: sparky | July 17, 2008 at 08:44 AM
Self-confidence is in direct proportion to the amount of power one has...no power = no confidence.
Remember, silence is golden, and it carries a big, huge stick! Also, people shouldn't throw glass at stone houses unless they're calling the kettle out of the frying pan, etc.

I think that Southerland should do the honorable thing like Governor Lowry.

The irony is that he touches a woman's back one time and it's news- meanwhile he's been fucking the rest of us for seven years and it's barely raised an eyebrow.
