KPTK announced today they're bringing some of our favorite progressive syndicated progressive talk show hosts Rachel Maddow,Stephanie Miller,Thom
Hartmann, Randi Rhodes, Mike Malloy, and Sam Sederto town next month. (photo: Rachel Maddow) The event will be moderated by Ron Reagan.
(photo: Stephanie Miller)
The forum will examine "the role we as citizens
play in shaping our democracy… how we recover, where we go from here."
We're hoping it'll be more entertaining than that.
(KPTK is the only newstalk station who's having such events these days. KIRO's hosts mostly agree with each other. KVI is a burnt-out husk, and KTTH has only one warm body: David Boze whom we suppose could debate with the robots, but that would be really boring. (KTTH: "Boze speaks only to robots; robots speak only to satellites.")
It'll be at Seattle Center Exhibition Hall from 6-9p.August 16th. Tickets to this event are on sale at www.am1090seattle.com.
AM1090 will take questions from the public to guide the discussion.

"Everyone's Air America talent except for Randi Rhodes.."
Huh? Stephanie Miller has never been on Air America and Mike Malloy was fired by AAR some time ago.
Miller is syndicated by Jones Radio and Malloy by NovaM.
Stephanie is not only cute; she is drop dead beautiful. It is amazing how women like Ann Coulter and Stephanie Miller manage to maintain their girlish figure even as they approach age 50.
I guess this would be your version of the 'Sparky Challenge?'
For the record, I don't 'hate' Randi.
Like most Americans, I don't listen to her show.
Besides, what kind of man would want to 'confront' a woman?
Doesn't seem very gentlemanly.
For what purpose?
Sorry Orcas I just can see Ann Coulter and Stephanie Miller in the same comparison. Steph Miller is miles above Ms Coulter in every aspect of comparison in my book.
a. Steph is beautiful (whereas Ann thinks she's beautiful).
b. Steph is intelligent...and Ann again assumes she is but misses the boat in that category...she confuses controversial with intelligence.
c. Steph is funny humorous and Ann is JUST NOT!
Were I younger and available Steph is someone who would appeal to me...alas even tho I probably wouldn't get a second look from her. That's Okay I have an equally drop dead georgous wife so who am I to complain. But, just sayin...Steph rocks. [Hopefully she can ease up on her drinking on her Seattle appearance...as that's not cool and detracts from her sharp accumen].
You got it Puts...these talk show stars need to 'maintain' when they come to the 'burbs (i.e. Seattle). I'm sure they think they're in a 'lesser' venue when they're here and can somewhat 'let their hair down' so to speak but professional posture must be maintained.
She's a hottie..tho; no doubt (and PLEASE NOTE I'm referring to Steph)! :)
I was going to purchase some tickets but $30.00 plus gas, not worth it.
Listened to Randi on the way home today, she said the St. Petersburg newspaper posted a 13% profit last year and thought that was GREAT. Now what was the oil companies profit margin last year.
Actually, KTTH is sponsoring the Glenn Beck comedy tour, coming to screens near you. I realize it's not quite Beck in person but still... can't say they're not trying.
[Hopefully she can ease up on her drinking on her Seattle appearance...as that's not cool and detracts from her sharp accumen].
You guys sure are quick to spot drinkers. Are you tee-totalers?
I'm curious, duff, has she been caught drunk on stage or in appearances before?
Why did you say that?
Stephanie was here once before although I don't remember who all was on stage. I watched it on the Seattle Channel. She was more comedic than serious and the discussion tried to be more serious than comedic. I don't think she came across well.
Wish I could remember the others on that panel. I think there were three.
Also, too many people sometimes diffuses the discussion too much.
Now if it were Sam all by himself... (insert smiley face here)
joanie: as I recall, I believe she was slurring it a bit at the microphone on her last visit to our beautiful city. No big deal to me except that it detracts from her sharpness in my view and I like to see her in top form.
Say (on another note) I've been meaning to ask: are you hoping Obama picks Gen Wes Clark as his running mate? I'm (obviously) hoping for Mrs Clinton although I doubt he will choose her.
I have tickets, so I will be able to do a full assessment of the "hottie-ness" of each participant, (which is, of course, the only reason I'm going). Why do you boobs think anyone cares about how "hot" you think a speaker is? I never see Joans or Sparks making inane commentss about how Hartmann or Malloy "manage to maintain their boyish figure even as they approach age 50". Get over yourselves!
Duh-f, you have a wife??? All this time, I thought you were female!
Stephanie has plastic, frozen, I can't move my face hollywood look going on and she weighs about 100 pounds, cute, but far from hot. Plus she seems like an elitist and she's never worked a real job and is a valley girl and her show has horrid ratings and hasn't changed the drops she plays in years. Outside of that, she's a catch.
How can a Valley Girl be elitist? Considering she grew up in a Republican family, how can she be an elitist. You are not following the Republican talking points very well, or you would know that only liberals are elitists. Sheesh!
How do you know she hasn't worked a real job? And what constitutes a "real" job for you? From what I have read about her, she has busted her chops over the years to get where she is, and her ratings are very good. Where did you get your information other than out of your ass?
Folks who disagree with Coulter's politics claim she is ugly and stupid. Millions of men think Ann is beautiful. The American public has made Coulter a spectacular success with 6 consecutive NY Times #1 non-fiction bestsellers. Coulter is obviously pretty damn smart.
'Millions of men think Ann is beautiful.' ..where's THAT data coming from. No one said she wasn't 'smart'...smart enough to con folks into buying her book(s), that's her MO....period!
Haha..thanks for keepin me in line there chuck; I just don't happen to think much of the lovely and gracious Ms Coulter.
But, you're right - I have to stay in line and watch my 'prattle' lest it be deemed 'waltzing' and/or 'hi-jacking', etc., et al. [smile]

Now it's Top 40 hits from the '60's & '70's aimed at that diminishing crowd who still remembers them and can still hear.
KTTH am 770 KHz Right wing home of local, and a whole bunch of syndicated righties such as Glennn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Michael Medved, Sean Hannity, Laura Ingraham, Lars Larsony, and for an hour a day: live & local David Boze.

Randi is NovaM as well.
So..all you guys on here who hate Randi so much, now is your chance to confront her in person and explain her shortcomings to her.

May we suggest that Steph not use Randi as the 'designated driver?'
