No word from the site to the contrary, so the final 210 feet of KRKO's (1380AM) primary antenna structure was presumably stacked today.
When the stacking's done, the four tower array will boost the Everett sports talk station's power to 50,000 watts.
The towers will transmit the new KRKO-AM daytime signal with crisper sound, and reach as far south as Tacoma and north as far as Mount Vernon and Oak Harbor.
The tower construction marks the end of an eight year legal battle to obtain permits for the radio station upgrade and the end of an eleven year project overall.
KRKO owner Andy Skotdal tells BlatherWatch construction should be finished in September, and signal testing will start in the Fall.
GREAT! Maybe they'll broadcast the
SUPERSONINCS, err, I mean the OAKIE-DOKIES' games this coming season. [smile]Posted by: Duffman | July 17, 2008 at 12:23 PM

Hello KRKO sports fans: your query for the evening is this.
Can any of you give me the ultimate oxymoron?
Yes, caller #1 what is it?
Caller: Reverend Jackson?
Excellent!
Can this guy be any less creditable?
