A morning fire destroyed the house of Darcy Burner, who is running against Republican Rep. Dave Reichert
for the U.S. House of Representatives in the state's 8th District.
Sandeep Kaushik, a campaign spokesman said the fire broke out about 7:45a Tuesday at the home on West Ames Lake Dr. Northeast near Carnation.
"The important thing is that she and her husband and son, and their dog as well, are safe," Kaushik said. "They were in the house when the fire started and were able to get out safely."
Kaushik said the family left the house and called 911 when the smoke alarms went off.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Wow, hope there are no political implications here.

Glad Darcy and her family are OK. My heart goes out to them. Keep us posted, Michael as to what we can do.

Just heard on KOMOTV that the 5-year old might have saved the family, by waking his parents when he saw smoke in his room.

Damn that sucks. I didn't realize she had water/lake front property. Her internet videos portrayed a person of ordinary means. At least she lives a comfortable existence when her house isn't burning down.
OT: is there a betting pool at KIRO as to which host can drive the most listeners to their website? Is there a treat bag? Dori is once again directing users to look at pretty girls on his webpage. An ever shameless modus operandi.

Times reporting is second to none:

BTW - why hasn't Kirby & Ko.'s iTunes podcast not been updated since January?

This is terrible. I 'm glad everyone is ok. Stuff can be replaced, people can't.

Very thankful that the Darcy Burner family made it out safely. What a wonderful act by the little boy.
Just a reminder folks, make sure your smoke detectors and fire alarms are all in working order.

Great raw footage, Michael. It looked like the copter got there fast and it was interesting to see how fast the fire grew.
Also, those houses are pretty close together so fortunate only Darcy's home was damaged.
Glad everyone's okay. A shame she'll lose so many personal items. That's always the worst. Houses can be rebuilt.

Purchased in 2002 for $550k...not too bad. Hopefully insurance was paid up.
Zillow says it is for sale for $1.1m, but only gives a zestimate of $680k. If the insurance is current maybe they will get a $1.1m home out of it...

Hmm, three times the median home value. I'm not sure what that means exactly but I feel like maybe she's more "one of them" than "one of us".
Of course I'll sooner vote for her than Sgt. Hairspray but I feel a little disenchanted.

Her name is Darcy BURNER. A house fire was inevitable.
