David Goldstein, who finished a fine career in radio just months ago at KIRO, has written a must-read letter to KING5 News Director Mark Ginther offering to leap into the breach left by the departing Robert Mak.
No doubt Goldy, even with his hairline made for radio, could improve the prospects of Channel 5 who may be soon suffering layoffs and a downturn.
We're fairly sure that his idea for title, Up Yours with David Goldstein may not make it with the Texas media company, but we agree with David that hiring him would signal "KING5’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful political coverage and analysis while adopting the snarky and somewhat irreverent attitude of the Daily Show, the blogosphere and the other new media outlets that have been steadily stealing audience (and advertisers) away from traditional news organ izations such as your own."
I think that we need somebody with a little less flame to his liberalism, thank you very much.
There must be some person that hates libs and conservatives equally.
It would be fun to have somebody that treats both sides with disdain and distrust.
Besides, Goldy has a voice for newspaper and a face for radio.

Hmmm
I suppose the letter is written in a fashion intended to get their attention but methinks Goldy makes a mistake when he tries ot paint himself as the left handed vesion of Sean Hannity.
Despite his worst efforts, Goldy is a sweetheart who carries his rationality as well a Charlie Rose but wi/out the coffee shop elitism.
Not to say that Goldt is not a character able to call attention to King., Can you imagine Goldy doing a remote at some Greenpeace demonstration out at Bangor? Goldy in a rubber ducky and pea coat! Great video!

Goldstein pestered 710KIRO's program director with letters, phone calls and emails until he finally gave Dave what he wanted- his own political talk show on KIRO.In the end, Goldstein couldn't walk his talk, and his uneven, doctrinaire and often annoying performances didn't live up to the swagger. Now it looks like he's trying the same crap with KING TV.

Is Goldstein a journalist? Don't think so. Mak is/was a fine, trained, seasoned reporter. Having a loud mouth (Goldy) and an opinion does not make him qualified to take Mak's spot. Not even close.
He was able to worm his way into KIRO at a time when the station had a weak programming team lead by loser Clendening. KIRO's current managers clearly saw the error of many of Clendening's ways and has been working to set the place right. Getting rid of Goldy was one of those way, as was dumping Shiers.
