Introducing grumpy, reactionary initiatives and referenda is traditionally done on Kirby's show. "Cut' em off at the purse strings." Kirby proclaimed. This dog will pass for sure, we thinks: When Horsesass.org's David Goldstein applied the math to his own house, he found his property

A not so boring Friday oddem is how Mrs Clinton did on O'Reilly and/or how this next Tuesday may play out.
IMO, she (the lovely & gracious Hillary) handed Bill his ass...and THAT's a heavy load. She was fantastic, had a reasonable answer for EVERYthing and certainly gave as good as she got.
I believe 'push is turning to shove' and this next Tuesday - if she can win (or does VERY well), the super-delegates will give it to her. Again, I hope Sen Obama will be offered and that he accepts the VP role as like I've said many times before THAT would put a certified guarantee on a win in the fall.
We all know that Mrs Clinton is the stronger candidate - even those who dislike her I think can realize this. If Sen Obama wins there will most likely be 5-more months of hearing about Pastor Wright. [Did you all catch the 'mansion' he's apparently moving into and the Rolls Royces' he apparently drives...on last nite's talking heads...Hmmmmm]
-Duffman here, signing off for now from Western State.
Posted by: Duffman | May 02, 2008 at 05:40 AM
Of course I guess we shouldn't be too concerned about the apparent extravagances of Rev Wright when we are paying for these Congressional perks !!! [No gas worries, there, eh]

"The Obama campaign rolls out another former DNC chairman's endorsement on Friday: Paul Kirk, a superdelegate who led the party from 1985-1989, is coming out for Obama, a day after Andrew's switch from Clinton to Obama. Andrew was DNC chair during the Clinton's years in the White House."
And in Oregon:
SurveyUSA. 4/28-5/1. Likely voters. MoE 3.9% (4/4-6 results)
Obama 50 (52)
Clinton 44 (44)
Among whites:
Obama 50
Clinton 44
Yeah, Oregon is mostly white. And Obama is winning it.
Funny that, I've just spent weeks hearing about how Obama can't win white people. So I'm a bit confused.
Not.

I knew Oregon was pro Sen Obama all the way...I've many relatives down there and they come to visit me here at Western quite a bit.
The 'Judas' type delegates who are switching to Sen Obama are simply guaranteeing that they won't be employed within the Clinton administration. Wise delegates should wait until at least next Wednesday.

How is making a choice "judas"?
Posted by: Coiler | May 02, 2008 at 09:46 AM
Hey Duffy
What do you mean she handed BillO' his ass? Near as I can tell, he asked her some moderatly tough questions and she answered them. Nothing I saw led to any "got you" stuff. It was a good interview where she handled herself as well as any Democrat could. I thought maybe O'Reilly might have a little crush on her. She is much less wimpy than joanie's fella'. She showed that. But we could not expect anything less as she moves towards the center.
Posted by: chucks | May 02, 2008 at 09:47 AM
I certainly do NOT know that Hillary would be a better candidate than Obama. In fact, I question your sanity for saying such a thing. She has way too many people who would never vote for her. I have confidence that once it is Obama and McCain running against each other without all the negatives spread by Clinton, then the people will start to move towards the Democrats.
As for that snotnose site, Omigod!
Posted by: David Tatelman | May 02, 2008 at 09:47 AM
Hey chucks...think there's any chance that Sen Obama will agree to appear on Billo's show? I think not!...as he apparently will not even 'chance' another debate with my lovely and gracious candidate. I agree that Billo 'appeared' somewhat infatuated with her...how 'bout that....I just keep thinkin back to his treatment of his former staff member....Ugly!
Posted by: Duffman | May 02, 2008 at 10:05 AM
There have been over 22 debates, Everything that could be said, has been said.
And Duffman, if you are still so concerned about Rev. Wright, you had better hope nobody asks Hillary why she and Bill called up on him for spiritual advice during the Monica scandal.
Posted by: sparky | May 02, 2008 at 10:16 AM
I don't know if b Hussein has the courage to appear on O'Reilly. It is not so much Bill O as it is having the courage to stand up to Geo Soros and the Kos kids. They got their panties all twisted when he was interviewed by Chris Wallace.
It really does not matter in the bigger picture. Obama is too green and inexperienced to be our President. In the end, the adults will prevail and it will be McCain or Clinton.

'There have been over 22 debates, Everything that could be said, has been said.'
Well, sparks...yes I know that's the Sen Obama campaign line, but really ther've only been four (4) between the two of them (others were social-fests). The public is always helped by debates and there have been enough developments recently to warrant a clearer understanding of each's slant on these developments. Truth is he doesn't want to 'rock the boat' so to speak on what he thinks is a sure 'coasting to victory' and I can understand that. I'm not as 'concerned' about Rev Wright as the American public will be if they get it slammed down their throats for another five or so months. Finally, 'calling on a noted pastor' in a time of need is a far cry from affirmatively 'enduring' 20+ years of that pastor's rhetoric.
We should know by next Wednesday!

Both Clinton and Obama have too much of the Progressive-Bolshevik thing going to do anything beneficial to our country's economy other than plunge it into a recession with their new taxes and costly universal health care, creation of a nanny state with a continued large deficit and weaken the military and only lip service - so far to our energy alternatives.
All three candidates are better communicators than the current President and thanks in large to the hotly contested Democrat race, we know a good deal about each candidate's platform, but not alot what Sen. Obama stands for, or about McCain's agenda. McCain is trying to appeal to the middle, which I like, but he tends to be all over the place. However, in this down year for Republicans, a more conservative candidate like Romney, Huckabee or Ron Paul would not have as good of a chance of capturing the middle - theoretically, where the election will ultimately be won.
Apparently, the City of London got tired of their Progressive-Bolshevik mayor and elected someone new from the conservative party. For more details, see:

Anyone who opposes the construction of nuclear power plants, drilling for oil in the USA and building of new refineries should be required to serve six months in Iraq - for selling us out to the middle East. A slim majority of Congress would be among those going.
As Ross Perot used to say, "its as plain as the nose on your face".

I was wondering what Coiler was refering to earlier. Could this be the work of the Obama campaign? I thought he was about "CHANGE".
Now that Obama has disowned his Pastor, will his Grandmother be next.

Spot on KS, you are the Anti-Joanie.
How can we not have in place a responsible program for building nuclear plants is beyond ridiculous. Clean, renewable, and stable energy.
Japan and the French do it. Why not the US?
Even Greenpeace has changed its position on Nuclear Energy.
And don't get me started on Anwar...
Posted by: PugetSound | May 02, 2008 at 09:29 PM
Iraq is still out of control, what, 5 years later? Asking people to 'serve' there is a lot like asking someone to eat the burnt cookies. You 2 are correct as it seems more for the oil.
Posted by: Coiler | May 02, 2008 at 09:39 PM
PS- Someone has to say the emperor has no clothes. so will Joanie stay hidden ? I also forgot to mention that the Environmental lobby who buys out the politicians would automatically be sentenced to 6 months in Iraq.
Anwar is the prime example of this - McCain also was against it and gets me going...
Posted by: KS | May 02, 2008 at 09:43 PM
Yikes, KS please be careful with the metaphor
ie no clothes and Joanie.
Seriously, we have so many ways in which to reduce the reliance upon foreign oil and getting the cost of fuel down to under $2 a gallon.
Allowing to drill in Anwar or other isolated areas that have oil rich deposits for one, putting new oil refineries in production for another, and finally, allowing us to use clean energy that works: nuclear.
Instead, the same politicos that prevent us from increasing supply get upset that the price of oil is so freakin high. Nancy Pelosi have you ever heard of Milton Friedman?
Yeah, I am also ticked at McCain for his position on this issue.
Hey Coiler, what's your position on Afghanistan? Should we be there or not?
Posted by: PugetSound | May 02, 2008 at 09:55 PM
Why did we go to Afghanistan in the first place?
Anwar is such a small deposit it is more of an assult by Cheney to drill in the other parks as well.
Why would you think we would reduce our dependence on foreign oil? The oil companies have made record profits, they do the investments in production. They are not hamstrung to place new refineries in production--just cheap-ass motherfuckers who let pipelines rot. Remember the Bellingham explosion?
Posted by: Coiler | May 02, 2008 at 10:03 PM
Coils you amaze me.
Why did we go to Afghanistan?
Are you serious?
Hell, even Obama supports that one.
Anwar is a significant deposit. That, with what is likely in the Dakota region would be significant steps towards reduction of foreign oil dependancy.
Well, as J Hova pointed out earlier my parents are pulling in the driveway. Gotta go...

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), total recoverable oil in ANWR area 1002 is 7.7 billion barrels. The U.S. currently uses 7.5 billion barrels per year. If we could remove all the oil from ANWR area 1002 today it would only last the U. S.one year. It would take 5 years minimum to set up a drilling operation, drill and refine the oil.
Now there's a cost efficient plan.
Posted by: Franklin | May 02, 2008 at 11:57 PM
That is a dated study, under current technology and at prices vastly under $100 a barrel.
Estimates of recoverable oil could -with continued improved technology- be greater than 7.7 billion barrels. It won't solve the problem, but it will help. Factor in being able to drill in the Dakotas and other isolated areas and you begin to add more supply. Which is a good thing.

Hey Puts did you notice that recently joanie has deduced that I am:
First: a corporate leader who greedily wants 'health care' for my employees so I don't have to pay
Second: a ward of the State confined to Western State Hospital
Do you suppose there is a relationship to 'the beginning of the bottle of vino' and 'the ending'? She has me very confused...well must go back to my room now...w/out any smiley-faces. LOL!

What say you Duffman? Do you think she is a troll?
Not sure what her 'Rants to Alcohol' ratio is but I am sure there is solid correlation 'tween the two.
Any guesses on her rant to drink ratio?
And aren't you glad she isn't arguing on your side.

Puts and Duffman (in a ward @ Western State)
I just heard that in the opinion of Bob Brinker on Money Talk; Both McCain and Hillary show little if any political will toward a changed energy policy at all as demonstrated by they pandering to cut out the Federal Gas Tax for the summer. Actually, I believe Obama was correct with his response on this issue.
"If we could remove all the oil from ANWR area 1002 today it would only last the U. S.one year. It would take 5 years minimum to set up a drilling operation, drill and refine the oil. Now there's a cost efficient plan."
There are also other locations, like North Dakota - with a whopping amount of oil shale and other significant offshore deposits. There need to be new refineries that are not powered by coal-fired power plants (a massive polluter). Nuclear power is the obvious answer to this so-called dilemma. But until someone shows the political will to promote this, the USA will continue the plight of becoming a second world country and continued appeasement of the Environmental lobby - as it would seem mentored by Al Gore- who has successfully exploited that cash cow.

I have heard it on good authority that Duffman is only at Western State as an observer. He feels that it will help him deal with the kook-element on this blog.
At some point perhaps Duff will elaborate and share what he has learned.
With China and India become more modern they will need greater amounts of oil. Idiots like Hugo Chavez who threaten to expropriate oil fields only serve to retard further private investment AND make it unlikely that cutting edge technology will be applied. It will soon be another 'Workers Paradise" failure that people will flee.

"According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), total recoverable oil in ANWR area 1002 is 7.7 billion barrels. The U.S. currently uses 7.5 billion barrels per year."
And don't forget to mention this will be 7.7 billion barrels of oil we will not import from the Middle east.

As one of the high-fivin' white guys, may i digress for a moment? ok i guess Burbank can't control the lack of manliness in his voice, so it could be called a cheap shot to ridicule him over it, as i have done in the past. However,he does control his vocabulary. One of the saddest things I've heard recently was the interview he did with his 14 year old daughter, played on a "bestof" yesterday. His daughter has obviously been raised hearing Luke talk all the time, with his "like" usage absolutely obnoxiously omnipresent for a man over 18 years of age. He still sounds liek a 35 year old teenie. Now the poor daughter , following her poor speech model, says "like" literally every other word. Terible. Very bright and charmiong kid,but she'll need to lose her dad's bad speech modelling if she wants her own radio show or a career where speaking is important. Luke was crowing that she could do her own radio show right now, and I'm sure he doesn't see her use of "like" as a problem at all. A person sounds immature and stupid who uses "like' as a pointless, grammatically incorrect filler, constantly, in this manner. Also, Luke sounded more like a buddy to the girl than a parent. A Dad should not be the kid's buddy.
