The Sonics have looked like an ice skater who has lost it and madly tries to regain balance. Despite gyrations, they will at last go down.

The latest I heard is that the Sonics could save a beam or two from KeyArena so that they can rebuild it and call it a 'remodel.' The aim would be to circumvent I-91, passed by Seattle voters, which placed certain restrictions on newly built pro-sports venues. The Sonics are falling south to OK, and they can't get up.

Glad to see that professional Indian and elitist liberal Sherman Alexie stoops so low as to approve of a proletarian game like Sonics basketball. Last I heard him he couldn't shut up about New York long enough to know he actually lived in Washington State.

barnabus

Alexie is a genius writer.

abob

Sherman Alexie is an Indian? Is he a "wahoo" Indian or a "red dot on the forehead" Indian?

Duffman

Sometimes our Native American brothers did have 'red dots' on their forehead when entering battle.

barnabus

Sherman is of Spokane and Coeur d'Alene heritage. He grew up on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Wellpinit, Washington,

Brian

Yeah, we don't need a fence or even border agents as far as that goes. Just let them all in, anyone who wants to come across, that will solve the problem.

My neighborhood is looking more and more like Mexico every day. It sure will save on airfare when it comes to vacation time.

When the Sonics move, I think Seattle should keep the rights to the team name, and call the OK team the 'dokeys' (as in Oky-dokey).

Enough of mismatches like the Utah 'Jazz' (moved from New Orleans) or the LA 'Lakers' (moved from MN, land of 10000 lakes).

>>When the Sonics move, I think Seattle should keep the rights to the team name, and call the OK team the 'dokeys' (as in Oky-dokey).<<

I love it.

joanie

a-boob, do you ever get out of the house?

I agree, barnabus, Alexie is a genius writer and thinker. And extremely interesting to listen. I love his laid-back somewhat self-effacing humor.

Loozertarian

Sherman used to stop at my bookstore whenever he was at Sea-Tac. A delightful person, and always a gentleman. If there's a big ego in him, he hides it remarkably well. The label of "elitist" given him by an above poster is ridiculously inaccurate. (And I am as contemptuous of elitists as anybody.)
