I remember 'top reporter' Eli Sanders. July 17, 1999 he wrote a hit piece for The Seattle Times that claimed the new FBI/King County Sheriffs Office firing range "allowed people to fire illegal assault weapons."

There were of course no "illegal assault weapons." As a member of the press Eli was simply given the opportunity at the range to fire an MP5 owned by law enforcement for use in close-quarters hostage rescue. The "people" who helped build the firing range were given the same opportunity.


Eli is a reg'lar ER Murrow.
