Glenn Beck has $50 million worth of reasons to laugh at his critics.

Goldy is a Dick

It's amazing that the guy talks throughout his show about how all of us (including himself) are struggling to get by...

He's a dick!

An Historian

Typical Seattle of tolerance; if you dont agree with their "progressive" ways you are labeled as against "diversity" and for violence.

Intolerant neo-socialists like Randi Rhodes and Mike Malloy embrace violence aagainst anything to the right of an Olympia street riot so their muddled thinking and violent screed are given a pass.

sparky

Hah! Love the picture. Sums it up nicely as witnessed by typical rw comments...."grrrr Randi Rhodes BAD...grrrr Glen Beck gooooood. Me hatum all liberals!"

qwqerqwe

can someone explain to me why diversity is actually a good thing?

Seems to me as the country has embraced diversity more and more, we've just been progressively going down the crapper.

abob

Screw diversity. One Nation. One Race. One Reichland.

An Historian

Whats wrong abob? Too much diversity of thought here? Gotta label those that disagree with you as nazis? Again with the fake "progressive" tolerance; tolerance only of those that agree with the likes of abob.

joanie

Show me where Rhodes has incited violence or even attempted, suggested, promoted . . . Too many of you attack her without knowing her. But, that is the talking-point follow-the-leader name-calling way of the right.

Diversity isn't necessarily good or bad. It is reality. What are you gonna do about it?

abob

Randi Rhodes has never initiated violence against anyone but herself. Randi has been known to get drunk, pass out, and smash her teeth on the sidewalk. Randi is a lovable silly goose.

abob

I love Randi Rhodes but she fell down drunk and ruined her dental work while urinating in an alley. She aint the kinda broad I want deciding how the country should be run.

mark

"can someone explain to me why diversity is actually a good thing?

nothing like being one dimensional...

DT

Another yawner post. And I'm the only person here with the balls to say that to BM.

BM, I challenge you to improve this site. You're in a rut. This site could be so much more. You have a routine, and that bores me. I want you to step up your game. Are you up to my challenge? I'm getting sick of this right-wingers bad, lefties good crap. It bores me.

joanie

a-boob, somebody gets drunk - or so you ass-ume - and they can never be trusted again?

Wow! You must be really, really pure . . . do you have any fun at all?

I heard today on Ring of Fire I think (but not sure) that "go left" - the internet news site - gets more viewership than Glen Beck.

Now that's interesting.

abob

With his new $50 million contract, Beck enjoys more wealth than 99.99% of Americans could amass in ten lifetimes. Beck defecates on his detractors and laughs all the way to the gottdam back.

joanie

A-boob: so what?

Andrew

Peace corp volunteers don't make much money. Are they losers? Is Glenn Beck a better person?

Andrew

Diversity is good because it forces society to become more sophisticated and capable of adapting to new challenges, like an immune system familiar with many types of diseases.

If you want to see the fruits of non-diversity then look to the middle east where they decided a few thousand years ago to stone people to death and still do it to this day.

Duffman

Your analagy to the immune system is moot. The immune system does not 'adapt' by diversification, it adapts by conquering and strengthening and perpetuating it's strength by growth and energy.
Also, there are different ways of 'stoning people to death', and those 'different ways' too are practiced today.
Think a little deeper, grasshopper.

sparky

uh...I think I know what you are trying to say, but your analogy of a diverse society as being like an immune system fighting off diseases is way off base, in my opinion.

Have any of you traveled outside of the United States? Even a country as close as Canada can serve as an example of a society that embraces diversity, a mosaic of cultures. Multilingualism is considered a virtue in the rest of the world. Why can't some Americans let go of their insistance that if it isnt White and English, its bad>

Duffman

Agree totally!

joanie

Oh, I can see some similarities. Analogies aren't always pure . . .

For instance, there are some staph that have cropped up against which our bodies have no capacity to fight. That "lack of familiarity" results in an inability to defend. The more our bodies are exposed to diverse stimuli, the greater becomes the capacity to adjust. Of course, it may take eons to do so . . . but, that, it would seem is also similar to our current ability (or inability) to assimilate and cooperate.

The more diversity our immune systems encounter, the stronger and healthier it becomes.

It you think it's a stretch, okay. But, I see some common denominators and can comprehend Andrew's point.

joanie

Sparky, I'm a little behind I think . . .did you hear about Neil Bush's education scam? Profiting from NCLB by selling unvetted and unscientific materials?

Duffman

Sorry, your reasoning doesn't hold water. You could have just said that you agreed with &dru and left it at that. :)

joanie

And you could do for once what you never do and what makes you so forgettable . . . explain your thinking. But I doubt you have an explanation. You're sort of - well, let's make that an authentic "dittohead."

CHUCK S: are you listening to Robert "Buzz" Patterson on CSpan?

Duffman

What's the use; you never listen to explanations if they prove you wrong. chucks is probably at or watching the 'Hawk game...you'll have to revert to day-dreaming 'bout Wes Clark.

abob

"There are two kinds of Americans. Guys like me who can afford $400 haircuts...and you" _Glenn Beck

joanie

You sound jealous . . . :)

Perhaps one would have some respect for you if you tried to use intellect instead of ditto-heading everything.

sparky

I thought it was Marvin Bush who owns a company that is raking in the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ by selling tests required in some states for NCLB?

Sorry but I think it's horrible to compare someone's ethnicity to a disease that has to be fought off.

Andrew

I stand by my analogy.

abob

Canada is a bad example of a country the US needs to emulate. Canada is our bitch. The United States enjoys the power to pimpslap our redheaded stepchild to the north and take their lunch money any gottdam time we get the notion.

joanie

I don't think he was doing that! He was talking about diversity making us better . . . healthier in every way.

Here's the link I saw about Neil Bush's School Scam: The "Other" USDE Scandal

"An independent watchdog agency has asked the Department of Education to investigate why President Bush's younger brother, Neil, has received money earmarked for the president's signature education initiative to sell a curriculum program that has not been subjected to the rigorous evaluation it deserves," ..."

From Education Week and dated September.

joanie

abob, you're becoming predictable . . . your thinking like an arrogant two-year-old American. It is "me,me,me" all the time.

I think considering we have consistent trade deficits with Canada, sophisticated thinking might conclude otherwise. I notice that our deficits were smaller during the Clinton years.

Also, I find it interesting that your criteria for a better or worse country is one that can be bitchslapped by us. I guess The Decider really does speak for you. Are you, by any chance, a wife beater?

coiler and crew

We think Beck still beats his wife. It would seem that right-wing radio needs to recruit from the same legion of spare parts that brought Missouri Fats his red state followers. Nothing to see here, just a look into dysfunctional America.

Duffman

That we would be so disturbed with folks who've achieved 'financial' success just because they are of differennt political persuasion is telling, to say the least. Can we appreciate honest 'hard work' no matter how politically slanted it is or must be veiled thur biased perception. Isn't life too short for that. Were any of you astute enough to achieve the financial success of these folks - I would indeed applaud you, despite your political bias.

sparky

Glenn Beck, on the Iranian "threat":

"You don't have to take my word for it, just watch any episode of Law and Order."

"Nationally syndicated Clear Channel radio host Glenn Beck referred to survivors of Hurricane Katrina who remained in New Orleans as "scumbags." Also, after acknowledging that nobody "in their right mind is going to say this out loud," Beck attacked victims of the disaster in general and the families of victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, saying: "I didn't think I could hate victims faster than the 9-11 victims."

May 17 show:
BECK: "Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure."

Yeah, right, Duffman. An honest day's work.

LT1350

Duffman doesn't like to make waves. Like the igor who hangs around Vegas casinos kissing pinky rings, it is important for him to find a meal-ticket first and later on, kick them when they are down.

KS

Glenn Beck is a drama queen. He may be better on TV, but he borderline sucks on radio. He tries to counter Air America from the right and is about equal in the doom and gloom department.

chucks

No joanie
I was at the game, so nope.
Do not think I want to comment on this thread though. You gotta admit, It has gotten kind of goofy.

abob

It's extremely difficult to succeed in any field of endeavor. Folks like Limbaugh, O'Reilly, Hannity, Savage, Dr Laura, Randi Rhodes, Beck and Ed Schultz deserve respect and accolades because they are successful in an insanely competitive and demanding profession. There are lucrative rewards in broadcasting but the failure rate is astronomical. The career trash heap is piled sky high with ambitious folks who have tried and failed behind the mic. In talk radio many are called but few are chosen; Damn Few.

joanie

yeah, an honest day's work . . . like the empire built on bootlegging for the Kennedys and Prescott's dealings with the Nazis.

Yep, let's judge everybody by their bank account. Sure works for doffo.

I bet that good ole' philanthropist Al (as in Capone) had a pretty good bank account balance as well. Gee, let's all cheer for 'em.

Ah, such sagacity a-boob. Where do you get it?

joanie

Forgot to mention Klueless' continued redundancy. When will you learn to post just once!

And chuck s., if you missed patterson, you could be watching a panel of independent journalists (hardly main stream media types) talking truth about their experiences in Iraq. You are a man who should listen. You could still honor and help your boys and girls . . . you'd just be doing it more honestly.

dano

Glenn Beck rules. Seriously. The guy is WAY funny, and totally insane. Name another radio show where the host will (in the same minute of two) degrade himself about his drinking and ADD issues while also degrading the pols in DC for the same issues? Is he a lightening rod for liberal hate? Sure, just like Rush. But that only means he's doing a great job at what he does. Certainly his willingness to take up issues the MSM ignores regularly (like Americans kidnapped in Mexico) makes him a useful resource, even if he isn;t "sensitive" enough for all the lefties out there.

Frankly, on some of the issues for he was lambasted above, I agree -- New Orleans was full of lots of losers (and plenty of corruption. Been there -- never wanted to go back.) And some of the 9/11 familes (not all) became greedy jackasses when the taxpayers of the US paid them money no other accident victim would ordinarily get from their government. Certainly if a private plane hit my house on approach to an airport and killed me, no one in DC would step up with 6-8 figure funds for MY family.

And all you who are filled with envy over what Beck makes, why is it so different than what any ball player, or 'movie star', or even (heaven forbid) perky Katie Curic makes? Cause he is a 'conservative'? OOOOOOhhhhh. Bar the door Katie, another guy on the right is getting rich and we ain't. Tell me, do you feel the same way about Geo. Soros and all his bucks?

One day you loons will figure out the left and the right are equally corrupt -- only the right doesn't wanna pick your pocket while the left not only sticks their hand it it, they goose your nuts and ask to to smile about it.

abob

Life is all about the money. If any politician or talk show host tells you "it ain't about the money" they are blowing smoke up your ass. It's always about the money; and Glenn Beck has tons of it.

Janet Morrow

>> down drunk and ruined her dental work while urinating in an alley.<<

And you think Shrub never did anything similar?

Andrew

Smut producers are often financialy successful; surely adob and and duffman have equal parts apreciation for both smut peddlers and talk radio hosts.

Tommy008

......the two burly homeless men he'd hird for the job were giving him his money's worth, as they pummeled me about the head ahd torso. Star was strainig on the leash he held in his right hand, baring his teeth and growling and snapping. His pastor stood by his right side, Bible in hand. "Bastard!," he screamed, "Hatemonger! You're the dregs of society. You hounded poor old Mike Webb to death!" "Poor old Mike Webb?" I screamed, in between blows. "He called you an "idiot", on his internet show! Anyway he was killed by a crzed meth punk . I had nothing to do with it."........

Duffman

&dru: I approve of any enterprise that operates legally under the laws of our land.

Andrew

Duffman admires smut producers. His love of capitalism knows no fetish too twisted.

abob

Hugh Hefner is a smut peddler. His Playboy empire is one the 5 greatest, most influential American institutions of the 20th Century.
