right-wing blogs we like
The Reagan Wing Hearin lies the real heart of Washington State Republicans. Doug Parris runs this red-meat social conservative group site which bars no holds when it comes to saying who they are and who they're not; what they believe and what they don't; who their friends are and where the rest of the Republicans can go. Well-written, and flaming.

Church , 400 East Pike. ~ Longtime KOMO radio morning man Larry Nelson, 70, has died.
This from Stan Orchard:
We're very sorry to report that Larry Nelson's famous voice has been silenced. The end came at 3:28 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 29. His family was with him at the end and they now ask for some time alone.
A memorial service for Nelson is being planned. It will be hosted by longtime Larry Nelson Show news anchor
and personal friend Gina Tuttle.
His friends have set up a web site for people to share their memories here.

~~ Toronto is a cool place, and according to the Le Bureau de Tourisme and one of the coolest things about Toronto is: There's no Ron & Don! Loyal reader Lance sent this picture taken at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
~ Did he say actually fricking say that? Yes, he actually fricking did: Bryan Styble, KIRO talk hobbyist on his show, A Tree Falling In the Forest (Sundays,10p-1a) told listeners this week: "Too often when people hear "double murder" they think "minority." This is the guy who opined that slavers did Africans a favor by giving them a ride to America so they could enjoy the fruits of the Land of the Free. KIRO doesn't care what he says, apparently, maybe because he says it when nobody's listening.
Until the likes of CNN's Lou Dobbs and talk radio's Sean Hannity took it up you could swing a dead salmon by the tail and never hit anyone outside the Southern border states who was mad about the illegal Mexican coolies we deign to let pick our broccoli for pennies on the dollar.
(We'd heard previously only such rantings from The Minutemen: those raggedy, fraggedy, middle-aged, beer-gut militians who'd briefly got some headlines before their ranks caved in after an intense, internecine gnashing of gums).
When the Immigration Reform bill came up in Congress last Spring, all of right-wing radio took it up with full throat. Of a sudden, these previously benign peasants who fetched us our avocados became rapists and thieves and cutthroats, and even worse: welfare cheaters!
Earth-bound programmers and radio Luddites who think the future will never NOT be terrestrial: here's a peek into the future:
This Audi concept car debuted at the Los Angeles Auto Show last week:
An internet radio station in your car, able to tailor its programming to your own musical tastes - that's just one of the features built into the Audi Cross Cabriolet Quattro concept car... The Bang & Olufsen system streams radio via the car's mobile internet link, and as a result of the car's occupants accepting or rejecting the music on offer, builds a tailor-made playlist able to adapt itself to your tastes.
This may be another distraction from or maybe the elimination of the terrestrial drive-time.
Where do you go after you're fired from talk radio job in Seattle?
The answer, apparently, is Port Orchard if you want to stay anywhere near the Seattle market.
Those regularly scheduled Seattle newstalk spots are coveted
... seems you gotta leave town or get a gig selling cars.
It's the dilemma faced by the recently fired Bryan Suits, and Dan Sytman but also faced by such as Allan Prell, Mike Webb, Mike Siegel, New York Vinnie, Erin Hart, Lou Pate, Fred Ebert, Peter Weissbach, Brian Maloney, and Bryan Styble.
Tonight on The David Goldstein Show, 7-10p on KIRO.
7p: Are we prepared for pandemic flu? “Radio Kos” returns as Daily Kos front page editor Greg Dworkin- known as DemFromCT, joins Goldy by phone to talk about the latest news on avian flu, and what we need to do to prepare for the next global flu pandemic. While the flu pandemic of 1918-1919 was killing an estimated 40 million worldwide, Seattle was mostly spared when Mayor Ole Hanson shut down schools, theaters and other public places… and he was run out of town! Are we willing and able to do the right thing when the inevitable happens?
8p: Tax restructuring: are we ready for a state income tax?
The late Emmet Watson, always published his Thompson Turkey recipe this time of year; NPR's Susan Stamberg offers her mother-in-law's cranberry relish. Hillary Clinton touts the Chocolate Chip Cookies she famously doesn't make; Slade Gorton has his Warm Crab Dip; and the Bush Family their Zuni Stew.
These are beloved family traditions and the Bla'm Fam has one of it's own- which we're presenting by acclamation for the third year. We created it with a nod to the dubious genre of "family holiday favorites." As with all such recipes- it's the sentiment, not the taste (or taste) that endears it.
There's no "right ' way to make this favorite- it's made truly from the "left" overs found in any liberal holiday pantry.

~ Larry Nelson, longtime KOMO radio morning man has stage 4 lung
cancer. Terminal, and inoperable, says his wife Gina. Stan Orchard has made
a Larry website to honor him. Take a gander, and add
your best wishes to the impressive and growing list of admirers and old
friends who have written. There are pics, airchecks and lots of
memories flying around- go up there at once.
~ We like Dave Boze's new show (KTTH m-f, 3-6p). He had the capable help of mentor and local ultra-conservative poohbah, Michael Medved (KTTH m-f, 12-3p) with whom he's used to yucking it up and mocking Seattle. We particularly enjoyed the talk about his homemade bear sausage, and BlatherWatch fully expects some in our KTTH goody-bag this year. If Boze can quit saying Dan Sytman's name (as in "This is Sytman & Boze on KTTH...") we think this show has a pretty good chance of grabbing not only Bryan Suits' old (and we mean old) listeners (after all there were more than a hundred). He could also grab some who've been listening to the idiotic Ron & Don (KIRO m-f, 3-6p) out of pure resignation. We're about to see a real afternoon battle for conservative hearts
& minds. We read what commenters write, it's obvious there's a rightie backlash to Ken Schram- his place, even balanced by Carlson is off-putting to many veteran KVI listeners. As that Zogby poll revealed last week, conservatives don't like to hear the other side.
~ "discussions of discussions" are going on, according to sources, on another place for Dan Sytman on KTTH. We'd approve of anyone getting a live and local show in this market- even Dan Sytman.
The David Boze Show premiers today at 3p on KTTH. We'll definitely be giving it a listen.
KOMO's Dennis Kelly and other are asking: IIs this sudden programing development a reaction to last week's firing of Bryan Suits and movement of The Commentators to afternoon drive.
Dave has been up and coming for a while. He was a winner in what's being called the being called The Season of the Witch: Seattle newstalk lost two well-established local talk hosts in one week, and another well-known talker bit the dust.
Bryan Suits was fired from "Thee Talk Station," KVI; Dan Sytman was canned from "The Truth," KTTH. The Mark Fuhrman Show on KGA in Spokane was dropped Thursday.
Boze was the Dumb half of Dumb & Meaner, BlatherWatch's not-so-sober sobriquet for the late Sytman & Boze Show, early mornings on KTTH until last Friday. They were replaced by syndicated jerk, Glenn Beck.
Former KIRO talk host Ron Reagan will sit in for Dave (KIRO m-f, 9-12p) Monday and Tuesday. Rumors that Dave is flying a plastic turkey to the boys in Afghanistan are apochryfal. Our questions to you: how do you make plastic stuffing for plastic turkeys? What wine is recommended for plastic Thanksgiving dinners?
KIROFM 97.3 Multi-format: news and nearly all local talk. This is where classic KIRO AM news talk radio went... hopefully, not to die. The home of Dave Ross & Luke Burbank, Dori Monson, Ron & Don, Frank Shiers, Bill Radke, Linda Thomas, Tony Miner and George Noory.
