Tonight on The David Goldstein Show, 7-10p on KIRO.
7p: Are we prepared for pandemic flu?
“Radio Kos” returns as Daily Kos front page editor Greg Dworkin- known as DemFromCT, joins Goldy by phone to talk about the latest news on avian flu, and what we need to do to prepare for the next global flu pandemic. While the flu pandemic of 1918-1919 was killing an estimated 40 million worldwide, Seattle was mostly spared when Mayor Ole Hanson shut down schools, theaters and other public places… and he was run out of town! Are we willing and able to do the right thing when the inevitable happens?
8p: Tax restructuring: are we ready for a state income tax?
9p: Sunday school for atheists?
I heard Goldstein tell the story of his dad hoarding meds for the family. Funny!
Also, good discussion on taxes. I've finally been convinced that a state income tax is a good idea. I was one of those Goldy talked about being untrusting and assuming that the rich would have all kinds of loopholes. I'm still not convinced that won't happen but I'm finally willing to give it a try. Mostly because I can deduct state taxes from my federal taxes and I'd rather give my money to the state.
The rich always seem to find a way and it is because legislators know who butters their bread. It is always a losing deal for those of us in the middle or lower.
Anyway, as one who is often critical of Goldstein, he really stuck to the issues tonight, lured some good callers and was engaging right up to the end.
