Seattle's No. 1 talk host Dori Monson (KIRO m-f, 12-3p) and Sytman & Boze (KTTH m-f,5-9a) told listeners Thursday the "far left haters" who dominate Seattle were making themselves and all of us look bad.
(Wow, we thought, that sounds terrible! Then we wondered why- if Dori is Seattle's No.1 talk host- does he hate Seattle so much?).
Seems when President Bush came to Bellevue for his fat cat/big bucks shakedown for the endangered Rep. Dave Reichert last week, Seahawks Matt Hasselbeck and Mack Strong presented the No.1 Lovable Fuck-up with Hawk jersey No.43 in a touching opportunity of the photographic kind.
It was the White House's idea, according to P-I sporting columnist Jim Moore. Hasselbeck and Strong were but fleshy decor who came with the charred tuna sushi in the pricey fĂȘte raising dough for the Sheriff and hoping to plump up Bush's 31% approval rating like a Ballpark frank.
Turns out the huge "national backlash" from all "the haters," which Dori ejaculated about so vociferously wasn't huge, and it wasn't national. Matter of fact, the tsunami of "haters" disgusting the nation and making Seattle look just awful were actually some commenters in the PI's Big Blog, on a story originally written about the jersey presentation in puff-release style.
The story was amped-up by Moore in Thursday's paper who quoted the perplexed Seahawks who were amazed at the reaction.
"Why would people care about what we do as far as going to see the president and giving him a Seahawks jersey?" asked Strong.
If you have to ask that, Mack, maybe it's because you only read the sports section, or listen to Dori Monson. In the rarified world of the athletic elite, folks might not have noticed the deep animus for this most despised president in 30 years. For you, a jersey may be just a jersey; and a presidential invitation is just a PR noogie, and photo op. But in the big world outside the special one you live in, some 70% of the country- not just Seattleites- are "haters" by Dori Monson standards who are really angry about the dilly of a pickle Bush has gotten us into.
Turns out, the story was just another talk radio topic: flatus in the windstorms of daily AM radio.
Despite the talk hosts' insincerity on the so-called issue, and that it was but an hour's worth of show biz, it graphically demonstrates how deep the anger is for Bush.
Even these football fans are pissed off. They're not the "far left" as neocon Bush flacks like Monson, Sytman & Boze, O'Reilly, and Limbaugh claim- these are regular Americans reacting to the disastrous deceit, arrogance, and incompetence with which this unsuitable president has governed.
(The visit backfired on Reichert. Even though he raised near half a million bucks at the high ticket affair, his opponent Darcy Burner used the occasion to raise an astonishing 120k in a few days from an impressive number of small donors via the Net. The drive essentially drove Sen. Rodney Tom, her primary opponent, out of the race. He withdrew Weds.)
Maybe this will be a lesson for those that immerse themselves in the idiocy of professional sports. Why are so many people consumed by what others do on a sports field for money? I'd rather enjoy my own life than somebody else's.
Posted by: Dave | September 06, 2007 at 11:47 PM
They gave him a SEATTLE, note the Seattle part, Seattle Seahawks jersey that actualy has BUSH written right on the back and ANYONE wonders what the fuss is about? Since when did football have anything to do with partisan politics anyway? The term 'dumb whore' never fit anyone more apropriately.
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 12:39 AM
Just Bush Derangement Syndrome at its knee-jerkian best.
Until 2008, he is still the President of the entire nation and that includes SEATTLE, Andrew. Some like him, some HATE him, and some are just sweatin it out until 08.
If it is going to be based on polls then switch Bush for Truman who was lower than 30% when he left office. If we were to read about the same thing circa 1951 with a couple of local Sport Stars giving Pres Truman a jersey wouldn't we just shrug our shoulders a bit?
C'mon, this is just a chance for the real deep blue haters to express disgust and those in the business of ginning up a topic to exploit it by pointing out Bush Derangement Syndrome 'Look, they won't even let him get a freakin T-shirt without going off' topics. (Talk about low hanging fruit this is easier than picking apart an argument from Andrew.)
If you want to talk about popularity of office, take a look at where the media and congress rank. Since the Dems took over the congress has actually sank even lower from the low 20's to the mid teens.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 08:13 AM
Dave, your rather condesending and elitist comments concerning "those that immerse themselves in the idiocy of professional sports" is an example of one aspect of liberal political behavior that we need to be freed from. This rather snobbish posturing and imagined moral superiority that it tends to represent is a insult to the majority of folks who enjoy following and watching all types of professional sports.
We all know that "enjoying your own life" is so much more important and significant to the good of the world then, let's say, attending a Mariner's game. But we see following sports (and playing them), as strange as this may seem, as part of enjoying OUR lives.
I'm as pissed as the next person about Matt Hasselbeck or anyone else giving comfort to our frat boy president. But since Hasselbeck is probably a republican he probably feels comfortable doing so. This is really a non-story that Dori Monson is trying to spin into a pile of divisive political fodder.

Both Dori and Bushler need to be hated, whats wrong with that?
Posted by: coiler | September 07, 2007 at 09:00 AM
I heard most of Monson's hour about the jersey and don't remember him mentioning that the prez's PR office requested the meeting with Matt. Monson made it sound as if it were Matt and Mack's idea to meet dubya.
This reminds me of the Edgar Martinez photo-op with Bush which was also requested by the prez PR people.

Its "stories" like this that have made Dori #1 in talk radio here in Seattle. Doesn't matter that almost nobody really cares about the whole thing...Dori can hold it up as a prime example of what is wrong with 'progressive Seattle.' There is certainly an audience out there that loves to hear it.
Give Dori credit...he has reached his goal of becoming the Lars Larsen of Seattle.

See, this is how dumb PS is: "Just Bush Derangement Syndrome at its knee-jerkian best.
Until 2008, he is still the President of the entire nation"
Your sentiment was put far more eloquently by someone who's figure you probably know well: "Honestly, I think we should just trust our president in every decision he makes and should just support that, you know, and be faithful in what happens." -Britney Spears
PS is one of those people who thinks we should respect The President because he's The President, and it doesn't matter that he's committed harakiri on all our behalfs. He's made countless non-partisan mistakes and will be remembered as the worst president since Nixon if he's lucky, yet here's PS stumping for him like the retard jingo the rest of the world has come to know us for.
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 10:45 AM
Is it just me or do all of Dori's callers seem rather dumb? After he opened up the phone lines on this topic there was a parade of dingbats saying things with a slurred speach like "yeah, those pinko lefties can't tolerate anyone they don't agree with."
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 10:50 AM
It is just you, Andrew. Dori's callers are just fine. Not to worry though. As long as you are willing to work at it, you can always grow out of "dumb".
Posted by: chucks | September 07, 2007 at 11:43 AM
You set um up. I just use um.
Posted by: chucks | September 07, 2007 at 11:44 AM
It's ironic that you replied because they all remind me of you. They're all hate commie libs but they don't know why and they're too busy being hard working American Patriots to bother themselves to figure out why. You seem like a good guy chucks but you you throw in the towel faster than anyone here.

I think it is a good thing if the sehawks fail we can blame it on the pRESIDENT

HERE

He wasn't even drunk. Think about it.

Andrew
"PS is one of those people who thinks we should respect The President because he's The President"
Andrew, you remind me so much of very conservative types in the late 90's that had bumper stickers that said 'Chuck Heston is MY President.' i thought those people were as ridiculous as you. There is only one President. He represents all of the people whether you like it or not. It's called democracy pumpkin. You gotta better idea, then start your own country.
So short answer: yes, like it or not Bush is the President. While 8 years is enough for all of us you should respect the office, not the person. If you respect the person and not the office it is called a cult. We are a nation of laws and there are steps to remove the person from the office called Impeachment.
(or the nut case fringe route like Randi Rhodes that advocated assasination but I give you more credit than that Andrew)
Obviously, despite a lot of heat you can't get produce anything substantial enough to remove him.
So a couple of local jocks that play for the seattle seahawks like the President. Big whoop. Don't get your panties all wadded up over it. I don't see you getting up in arms about other Seahawks that have been nailed for DWI and yet continued to represent the SEATTLE Seahawks. Oh wait, I forgot you have those novel DWI theories... I just ask for you to be a little consistent.
I pointed out a little history of another President that was despised and dogged even more by allegations during the last years of his presidency for corruption, mishandling the economy, communist influence, and an unpopular War (police action) and yet today is considered to be one of the better Presidents of the 20th Century.
New concept for the day Andrew:
historical perspective. Google it, Learn it, love it, and live it.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 12:44 PM
True he probably wasn't drunk, just stoopid. He is the worst prez to date.
Posted by: coiler | September 07, 2007 at 12:50 PM
No one is asking you to date or even go out with him. ;o)
Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 12:53 PM
Fuck you Duffman, you're growing stale again, ya know? Go out on a mandate with your boi Putz.
Posted by: coiler | September 07, 2007 at 01:08 PM
i would say the same to you coiler but i am guessing you would be one man short....
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 01:13 PM
Interesting & telling response; such a great sense of humor. Try to take life a LITTLE MORE seriously. You must be so lonely.
[Yeah, I guess Putz does so much ass-kickin around here he's now the milestone] Think you could ever converse without using the 'F' word...sooooo boorish; but guess that's your signature.
Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 01:15 PM
duff
you have to understand that poor coiler is trying to be on his own and away from joanie's shadow.
good luck coiler.
duff you notice that andrew can't respond to specific points. i wonder if he picked up on the difference between a democracy/republic and a cult.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 01:32 PM
coiler needs to recoil every now and then.....and yes andy is probably looking up the definition of more words to throw at you in his usual 'random' fashion.
such is life in the blathering community I guess.
Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 01:40 PM
PS lied when he said I don't respond to specific points.
PS says "So short answer: yes, like it or not Bush is the President. While 8 years is enough for all of us you should respect the office, not the person."
The jersey they gave him said BUSH on it, not PRESIDENT. It was a personal and specific endorsement of the actor fulfilling that role.
"I don't see you getting up in arms about other Seahawks that have been nailed for DWI and yet continued to represent the SEATTLE Seahawks"
Damn you're so dumb. Getting busted with DUI is amazingly different from standing on a podium with the president and presenting him with a team jersey emblazened with his name. One is an establishment sanctioned endorsement, the other is a non-sanctioned criminal act that has absolutely nothing to do with the Seahawks organsiztion.
"I pointed out a little history of another President that was despised and dogged even more by allegations during the last years of his presidency for corruption bla bla"
Ya, that had nothing to do with anything.
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 01:50 PM
Andrew,
Bush is the man's name. The person's name tends to go on the jersey. Hence President is a title so on a jersey it said the name. Distinction without a difference.
The DUI is a criminal act yet you show no concern over that being represented in a SEATTLE Seahawks jersey. Bush has not been convicted of any criminal acts and you get all wadded up. More of that Bush Derangement Syndrome.
Historical perspective. Those that don't learn from history are condemned to repeat it. It should at least give you pause and consider for a moment or two.
You really can't be this dense, right? If so, please don't operate any machinery.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 02:14 PM
duff
do you think andrew is really this dense or is just playing games?
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 02:16 PM
I'm sorry Puts, I'm at a loss - I would only guess at this point that he may be suffering *PTAKS, and that certainly takes a while from which to recover (if ever).
*Post Traumatic Ass-Kickin Syndrome
Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 02:20 PM
very good duff. PTAKS lol.
maybe he is still in the denial stage. next comes grief...
of course, instead of using a psychologist he should see a pyschiatrist since they can actually prescribe the meds he'll require to make himself whole.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 02:28 PM
They shouldn't have given Bush a jersey at all, let alone a jersey with his name on it.
Re the DUI, what an employee of a company does on his free time does not represent that company. That's pretty obvious, and yet you accuse me of being thick. Amazing.
Your historical fun fact has no relevance to the current issue. I'm hard pressed to find any relation whatsoever.
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 02:29 PM
Spot on Andrew!
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 02:31 PM
Oh Oh Puts, he's apparently at the 'talking-to-himself' stage; I'm afrain I can no longer be witness to this. Later.
Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 02:43 PM
afrainafraid; sorry sparks!Posted by: Duffman | September 07, 2007 at 02:44 PM
yep duff,
when andrew talks to himself he usually wins the argument. usually...
andrew sez:
"Re the DUI, what an employee of a company does on his free time does not represent that company. That's pretty obvious, and yet you accuse me of being thick. Amazing."
Really? Go ask the Falcons how that worked out with Michael Vick...
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 02:59 PM
oh wait, let me guess your counter argument which will go something like, 'that's not a dui so it doesn't apply.'
just put down the car keys and stay home, okay?
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 03:15 PM
You know who should be really pissed at the Dubya/Hasselbeck/Strong lovefest?
Leonard Weaver
Imagine if you were a professional athlete and your goddam teammates slapped your uniform on some little old guy.

PS says "oh wait, let me guess your counter argument which will go something like, 'that's not a dui so it doesn't apply.'
The NFL can fire anyone for anyone it wants. As DUI is common and victimless, I'd expect them to cut that player some slack. As dog fighting involves cruelty I wouldn't expect the same. I'm truely shocked that you can't apreciate the difference. You are both dumb and insensitive.
If PS can have Duffman The Braindead Lemming rooting for you like a cheerleader then I figure I'm entitled to my own.
Spot on Andrew!
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 03:52 PM
You know what folks. I am going to the game Sunday. I suspect that one or two of the team are dense enough to be Democrats. Why should I give a damn. Can think of no reason myself. This has to be one of the most lame assed debates we have had here.
It is like years ago, I had to sit with Booth Gardner at dinner. He was the guvner for Christs sake. I shook his hand, ate with him and spoke with him (politely). He was a midget freakin libtard dimocrat. I am a common sense, small guvment, if you want it , get a job and buy it Republican.
If we as a nation make the mistake of electing another D for POTUS in the next election, and said POTUS comes to Seattle. If the team or players want to give that person a jersey, ball, etc. Then good on them.
Now what important lib shit should we be talking about?
Posted by: chucks | September 07, 2007 at 04:08 PM
Oh wow, such a rare find, a conservative anti-intelectual that likes football. You guys hate taxes and public projects unless it involves building a sports stadium, then suddenly you turn a bright pink.
Posted by: Andrew | September 07, 2007 at 04:49 PM
Well, doesn't it just go to show that EVERYTHIG about this "resident in the White House" is staged? The only thing authentic about Bush is his ignorance.
Posted by: joanie | September 07, 2007 at 05:19 PM
Oh, and the Republicans are getting so good with this "actor" thing, there's another one waiting in the wings. God helps us all. "This American Life" is a movie, it seems.

"Sept. 6, 2007 | On Sept. 18, 2002, CIA director George Tenet briefed President Bush in the Oval Office on top-secret intelligence that Saddam Hussein did not have weapons of mass destruction, according to two former senior CIA officers. Bush dismissed as worthless this information from the Iraqi foreign minister, a member of Saddam's inner circle, although it turned out to be accurate in every detail. Tenet never brought it up again."
This is your "Decider" chucks. Your false god who has made the whole world a target for terrorism.
Thanks chucks.
Oh, BTW, how do you justify "borrow and spend" Publicans while condemning "tax and spend" Dems? Just curious.

"Selective" Andrew sez
"If PS can have Duffman The Braindead Lemming rooting for you like a cheerleader then I figure I'm entitled to my own.
Spot on Andrew!"
Andrew
Dui is victimless? I think this is where you and I are in severe disagreement. When I worked in law enforcement I use to bust people like you that didn't think dui was a big deal. Dude, about ten thousand people die on the highway each year due to people engaging in that 'victimless crime.'
ask former Seahawk Lamar Smith he was charged with vehicular assault in 1994 drinking and driving prior to a car wreck that left teammate Mike Frier paralyzed from the neck down. Smith was forced to pay a portion of his salary for his entire career to the paralyzed Frier.
Or how about Bryce Fisher and Sean Locklear. both of them were charged in 2006 with assaulting their spouse or girlfriend.
YOU don't seem to have a problem with those activities yet get your panties in a wad about a couple of jocks presenting the President a jersey with his name on it. BDS, man you got it bad and that ain't good.
Posted by: PugetSound | September 07, 2007 at 08:21 PM
Speaking of anti-intellectuals, nd the shows they listen to, I thought those Mormon apes in Suits were going to give us a new show this month, to replace New York Vinnie's Sports Show. Instead they left the same old stupid sports show in place, except now with no-personality Uber-bore and dweeb Mike Brown. At least Vinnie had heart, personality, humor and spirit. I guess he wasn't bland and banal enough for the apes in suits. Maybe Dori really did throw his weight around and let it be known he wanted Vinnie out. This whole thing makes me sick. It smacks of anti-ethnic bogotry by the apes in suits, Vinnie being hardcore NYC Italiano and all...

that's right, if we follow the andrew method everything must be viewed through a political lens.
lets see, i guess your just gonna have to get a roster with political affiliations so you'll know who to root for and who to boo. i am guessing that ol andrew would never root for john elway or roger staubach, eh?
