Nice try at diversion there Leeann. I pointed out the unfairness of the article and made it clear that merci was being gratuitous and meanspirited. he could had one of his stories about a local public figure and all but including the kid was where he went over the line.
Right now I suspect Merci may be facing other issues right now cue in Jaws theme. Just when you thought it was safe to get back in the water...Mrs. Jaws (Irene the attorney) is probably sizing up his backside for a giant bite.

PS: Chucks your spot on with the appology. Merci should appologize on his blog and on Sharks.
Merci has too much talent to be going this route and the quicker he recognizes it, eats the crap sandwhich, and grows up the better for all concerned.

PugetSound

LOL Nevets, I forgot about the D&D angle. Wonder how many 'hit points' a ticked off attorney is worth in his gameplaying world. When it meets reality we may rapidly find out...hope he has plenty of that kitty repellant he brags about.

Steffany

Still waiting for this to be removed. Hopefully Sharkansky will stick to his word and remove the personal information about me on his blog thing.
Funny thing is...I haven't even read a newspaper in two years. I have never really been very political and now I flat out refuse to take a side. For people to think that I "targeted" Sharkansky because of his politics is laughable. I get my news from E online. Linsey Lohan is far more interesting than Sharkansky any day. It was an off the cuff conversation that got out of control. I am very sorry for any distress I have caused the Sharkansky family. I am just hoping that the far-reaching effects for me and the people I care about are minimal. You guys should all just chill, back off from your computers, hug the people you love and thank your lucky stars that you have air in your lungs, food on your table, and people that care about you.
I am hoping that he basically outed my full name, what I look like, where I work etc. that nothing happens to me physically. I am a single woman living alone with two kids. If anything happens to me...well.

Andrew

Are waitress jobs so hard to come by? Shouldn't be hard to replace. I don't think anyone would have known about your temp job had you not volunteered that info.

Never feel bad about revealing a public figure to be who they realy are. Democracy will fail if we only know public figures for the masks they wear.

I'm sure no restaurant wants to be known as a public spotlight where known figures come to be publicly humiliated, so your firing isn't a surprise given that your identity was so easily determined. Anonymous tipsters reveal this kind of thing all the time and remain anonymous, as everyone here knows. Better luck leaking the mud next time.

Steffany

I didn't say where I worked to anyone. He found out that information on his own. He did a public records search. I wasn't trying to leak any information that wasn't public knowledge. I wasn't "trying" to do anything. I didn't reveal anything. I 'm still not sure how he got my name in the first place. He won't take it down, he wants a retraction. I have no power to do that. He is ruining my life and all you people can say is...well, it isn't surprising? That is cold, man. Really cold.

Andrew

You might want to talk to a lawyer, incase Sharky has done anything illegal in his quest to destroy you.

I'm just saying that as a waitress you are a representative of the restaurant. When you slam a customer, the restaurant slams a customer. It only makes sense that the restaurant would want to part ways with that which represents the restaurant in a negative light, and in ways they never intended and don't apreciate. That is not cold, and if you don't think so then this is telling of how you see the world.

sparky

People call Michael names on here all the time..they even accused him of being singularly responsible for the murder of Mike Webb. I dont recall that he got his undies in a twist. He did not hunt these people down and attempt to get them fired. He blew it off and it went away. Later, some people tried to make a big issue of his daughter being fired from her TV gig...so you are hardly the first or last person to have this happen to you, Mr. Sharkansky.

I just looked over your website Mr Sharkansky..you say some pretty nasty things about people on your site, as do the people who post in the comments section.(Calling the Muslim community of Seattle "self appointed ethnic outrage pimps...nice) I think you need to make up your mind..either you are a public figure of great importance, in which case, you, along with other public figures are open for public criticism. Bush's family is thrown in to the mix all the time, and let's not forget Rush and his hilarious comment on how Chelsea looked like a dog. Or, you are a private citizen, nobody really cares about your tipping habits or your family and this is a big stink over nothing. Let it go and people will move on.

sparky

Michael...isnt there some radio news out there we can talk about now?

Bill Moyers had an excellent show on last night about the move to bring low wattage FM stations to small communities that have a strong local focus. He talked about one station in Louisiana that was able to stay on the air during and after Hurricane Katrina and was able to relay messages and important information to specific small communities that actually saved some lives.
Also, the citizens of San Diego are working hard to save KLSD from going to all sports instead of being a progressive station. The Clear Channel owners are mulling over the evidence that such a move has been a disaster for other stations, so it is not carved in stone yet!

PugetSound

steffany
while i disagree with what you did, if you have been threatened you should go to the police and make a report. there is no excuse for that and it is important to put those who engage in that behavior on notice.

sparky, public figures yes but lets all agree that we leave the kids out of it. okay?

sparky

Fine with me. So that means Shark should apologize for outting stuff about Steffany's kids.

And the "She started it!" argument only works when you are 9 and you hit your sister.

Now that is all Im saying on this because I refuse to give him anymore attention.

Fremont

You are so right, LeeAnn! Mr. Sharkansky is becoming a joke. What began as one blog entry among thousands of daily posts has become an entire topic on Bla'M's well-read blog...all because the Sharks deeply care about the appearnce of their fifteen minutes of fame. It's nice to know that the Sharks take time to read MF's lefty blog and indulge other opposing opinions. Then again, maybe they simply google themselves daily...

sparky

Spokane has one of those low wattage stations and received special accolades from a woman whose job it is to go around the country setting up these stations. I will have to go digging to find out which station it is, but apparently it does an excellent job of covering community events. I have fond memories of a station over in Montana that held a radio garage sale every day at noon. If you had something to sell, you would call up and you got about a minute to describe the item, give the price and your phone number and then they would go on to the next person. It was great!

Fremont

Duf sez:You've awakened the 'soul' of this blog with this one Bla'M

Aw jeez, Duf...I thought you were on hiatus. Surely, you're not suggesting that YOU are the "soul" of this blog by your return??!

PugetSound

sparky
the low wattage stations remind me of the old 'pirate stations' that use to fly under the radar of the FCC. a in the 60's, NPR had a nice 1/2 hour story on it.

PugetSound

sparky sez
"you would call up and you got about a minute to describe the item, give the price and your phone number and then they would go on to the next person."

we use to have something like that in cali called 'radio tradio' on the weekends.

chucks

I was over in Chelan a couple of weeks ago. Listening to the radio in the morning. The local station had a coffee hour. The folks would call in and describe what they had around the house for sale. In the little time that I did pay attention, some guy called in with an old car he was parting out. I got a rear bumper and a couple nice tail light lenses for an old Cougar for twenty bucks.
It was cool.
(Steffany, be sure to take the name change option on the divorce
decree. His name was no good for you anyway and it will help put this crap behind you)

Fremont

I remember that, too, Sparks...it seems all so atavisitic now that texting has taken over. (Hopefully, that Moyers show is available in podcast.)

Brendan

This Sharkansky guy has some horrible rabbit ears. I guess he can dish it out on his blog (which is still up) but not take it (I can't find the "offending" blog(s)). Anyway, he can't sue this lady or the blogger for libel if we what she said is true.
And it doesn't matter if this guy's wife and kids are public figures or not... And by the way, on his blog he talks freely about his family: http://usefulwork.com/shark/about.html

About Stefan Sharkansky

I live in Seattle with my wife Irene, children Olivia and David and cat Chompers. Until May 2003 we lived in San Francisco.

He lives by one set of rules, dictates another set. Typical blowhard conservative hypocrite.

Duffman

Aw jeez, Duf...I thought you were on hiatus. Surely, you're not suggesting that YOU are the "soul" of this blog by your return??!

Not at all; I meant you (& the 'regulars') of course. Thanks for your 'warmth'.

The comments made on Blatherwatch and Meetthestress regarding Mr. Sharkansky and his family, especially his child are largely untrue and in bad taste. I am sorry to have caused the Sharkansky family and pain or embarrassment. I am eternally sorry to have caused anyone, including myself, this kind of trouble because I chose to not respect a person's privacy when they come into eat at a restaurant with their family. That is wrong and as a service worker I should know that is simply not done. My place it to smile and serve food. It is not to comment on what my customers are doing in the restaurant. I should have known better. I should also realize that sometimes people act differently in different situations and as a person who only has contact with someone for a short period of time, I have no right to say that is how they are. I was misguided and also mistaken, as has been pointed out to me. I was wrong and I do not intend to work in food service in the future so to avoid perhaps offending another unsuspecting family. I am sorry. Please, please forgive me. Please don't take it out on other food service workers.

Noam

Steffany: You have become for Blatherwatch what Lenin referred to as a "useful idiot." Unfortunately for you, you will be used for entertainment purposes until BW decides differently. The irony of your predicament, being abused by a blog "for the people," is truly a MasterCard moment.

Michele

steffany at 12:17--You make statements that you now admit are largely untrue about someone, the s__t hits the fan and it gets you in trouble and you're surprised and hurt??? Think how the person you said untrue things about felt. You've reaped what you've sown and now you don't like it? Hope you've learned something here.

sparky

god, the UnSP trolls have arrived.

Duffman

It appears that MTS blog has been 'adjusted'; good for you merci.

PugetSound

steffany aka 404 gave a sincere appology that was accepted by the wronged party. i do wish her good luck, wish that she reported those that threatened her to the police, and hope that those lemons in her life now become lemonade.

now will merci be far behind given that his source has now disavowed her statement? he took down the page but the right thing to do would be to issue a retraction since the story was untrue.

Stefan Sharkansky

Steffany's retraction and apology work for me.

She learned a lesson and corrected her mistake. I've already taken down my post on the subject.

Fremont

THE END Amen.

Justin Atheropinion

The End?

Does she get her job back?

Justin Atheropinion

If she WERE to be re-instated, I would GLADLY frequent that restaurant. How about the rest of you?

(C'mon, do something POSITIVE for a change)

And I'm a LIBERAL (as opposed to tight-wad) tipper.

LeeAnn

What restaurant was it? I would like to go see for myself how this family acts!

Dewey

Frankly, I'm curious what restaurant would hire someone who had such contempt for the customers (read her blog; it sounds as though she's in the wrong business or at least worked at the wrong restaurant for her tastes)---the very people bringing in the money that pays her paycheck!

LeeAnn

Have you ever worked in a restaurant, Dewey? Most waitstaff are exceedingly polite, often times through gritted teeth because some people think that they can leave their manners at the door because they are "paying" someone to put up with their assinine behavior. You need to walk a mile in those shoes before you assume anything.

wutitiz

I seem to recall that there was a huge flap when Hillary stopped at a podunk diner for a photo-op, and failed to leave a tip. It all over conservative talk radio. That was idiotic and so is this.
People who get wrapped up in this kind of stuff need to really step back and take stock.

Dewey

Leeann, if the work is that horribly distasteful, she should switch careers so as not to have to have contact with the people she writes about with such disdain. Otherwise her health will show it over time. Any business that deals with the public has occasional pain-in-necks.That's a given. Ask any small-business owner. But most people don't blog about it and lie about their customers by name, risking trouble for themselves. That was the fatal error she made. But she herself said she'd made up mostly lies about Stefan et al, so why would you defend that?

Dewey

..and I should say that a few weeks ago I tipped less than 15% because the service was bad on several fronts!(the food did not please me, either) There was no way that if the tip weren't earned should it be given in full. I suspect that even waiters will admit that tips are EARNED. Not given for any old reason.
So Leeann, have you ever left less than 15% yourself for a tip? Be honest. (especially if you left no tip at any time)

Andrew

There was a funny Third Rock episode where John Lithgow puts a stack of ones on his table and says to the waitress "this represents your potential tip for the evening. Each time you do something I dislike, I take a bill out."

PugetSound

"Each time you do something I dislike, I take a bill out."

yikes, but i'm guessing that you might see some serious spittle action if you treated someone like that in real life.

Andrew

I'm very happy that Steffany has come to realize that being a waitress doesn't give her carte blanche to report on what happens at her place of employment, and that she should have, although she doesn't admit it, be much more discreet.

I'm fully convinced her account was mostly accurate and that she doesn't exhibit the imaginative qualities of a person who makes stuff like this up. I hope none of us allow Sharky's intimidation tactics fool us into believing he's a perfect parent and 100% attentive father, and that his child didn't bother patrons while he remained apathetic.

Andrew

No shit.

PugetSound

andrew wishes:
"'m fully convinced her account was mostly accurate and that she doesn't exhibit the imaginative qualities of a person who makes stuff like this up. "

based on what. name a fact that would support that statement.

sparky

Oh pleassssse let this die. Everything that could be said has been said! Enough!!!

I just saw a terrible show on TV...That dorky Backroads show with Grant Goodeve. The show featured a place called Bear World where tourists can feed bears and hug the elk. This is in Rexburg, close to Yellowstone. How many of these morons went on to the Park and tried to repeat their experience??? I have seem people walk right up to a bull moose to try to get a good picture.

Gusto

No, one more thing:

The best part about kids is making them.

sparky

Gusto! Are you gonna be a daddy soon???

Michele

So Andrew, now you're calling Steffany a liar? (She DID admit to making up lies but you seem to want to ignore that and override her by saying she really told the truth. Huh???)

Andrew

Steffany obviously retracted her claims under extreme duress you paperweight.

Michele

Andrew, you're a mind-reader? Okay.

Andrew

I guess you need some help. Waitress/temp worker humiliates Sharky. Waitress loses job, one job down, one to go. Former waitress suddenly retracts. The cause and effect, it's not hard to follow.

Death. Taxes. The former waitress' statements about "The Shark".

Tommy008

Will Sept 4th Be The End Of The "Radio Station of Guns and Jesus" ? (T-8 News Service)BREAKING! KVI is teasing listeners with snippets of country heehaw/twanger music followed by an announcer proclaiming "Open for business, September 4th! KVI570" Seems the end may be near for Kirby, Carlene, John, and Captain Smartass. Yes, Suits may have to now get a real job, one where that untreated PTSD may come out in a nasty, nasty way. I don't see him continueing in radio. As an astute fellow poster here put it, he has become "unlistenable" As I mentioned in a previous post, all his gleefully puerile prank phone calls to foreign countries invariably backfire on him. Suits' delusional conceits of hilariously superior cleverness, wit and humor were again and again exposed as empty posing. The recipients of the funny fone calls,Suits wouldbe bozos and dufuses, invariably came out looking smarter than the Lieutenant, as they played often less than indulgent straight men and women to Suit's annoying , pranking buffoon.

Jesurgislac

Wow. Stefan Sharkansky is not only a crappy father, he's the kind of crappy father whose idea of child rearing is to viciously attack anyone who criticizes his child's poor behavior. Irene Sharkansky is evidently just as bad. What a pair of evil parents: no wonder their child misbehaves in restaurants.
