My take on Dave is that he doesn't worry about the "station" but just does his radio show every day and let's management worry about the rest. That's his way. He can be very aloof.

That annoys me at times but I think it might be one of the reasons for his success as well.

ph(J)oanie sez:
"...That's his way. He can be very aloof. That annoys me at times but I think it might be one of the reasons for his success as well."

what happened there ph(J)oanie, did you try and give him your resume when Tina's Producer spot came open and he just gave it the round file cabinet number? OR maybe he failed to heed your complaints on how Tina did her job and that ticked you off. get a clue, SOMEONE respected and recognized her stellar work as Ross's Producer otherwise she wouldn't have gotten the promotion to the big time in NY. OR did you come up to him after one of his local stage acting gigs and he blew off your autograph request? you just reek of a wannabe insider and instead have to content yourself with posts/emails to KIRO 710.
since you can feel free to assume that Dave "...doesn't worry about 'the station' but just does his show everyday..." you won't mind me assuming a bit here: they probably don't even take your calls anymore during his show. all of which also helps to explain the success of ross.

PS: Reagan will be back at some point with a show. I look forward to hearing it.

BIG mistake keeping annoying Dori Monson and firing Ron Reagan! You just lost a lot of class. Ron was the only genuinely intelligent clear speaking host on this station. Now you're stuck with a bunch of hacks.

Marie

I sent an e-mail to KIRO bemoaning the firing of Ron Reagan. I gave them all my personals but they didn't bother to write back. I can't believe that let such an incredible asset go ... especially with the national elections on the horizon and his incredible insight. I'd love to hear how they justify this change. I quit Dori Monson ages ago ... how many advertisers has he hit up for personal purposes??? I also tired about him going on ... and on ... and on ... and on ... about how special his daughters are. ALL our children are wonderful! Save the details for a cocktail party.

argh..

I can't believe Ron Regan is gone.

How has Ron and Don lasted as long as they have?

I actually liked New York Vinnie, unlike most of y'all here.

Well as soon as I find out where Ron is at I'll listen.

Jimw

I've listened to KIRO as my first choice in radio since the Jim French Days - Used to actually like Dori's take on things until he radicalized and then started whoring himself out to build a house and cover whatever other personal need arose. Ron Reagan was a thoughtful interlude between D.R. & D.M. and I will look for him when he resurfaces - The national news at the top of the hour was always a useful catch up. Vinnie had a big heart but was a fish out of water in a talk show format about anything more meaningful than testerday's game.
All in all, it has been a long, sad slide from 'Big Stick of the Northwest' to 'The Big Stick in the Mud.' I'll be moving on now - I'll miss listening to Dave Ross.

Duffman

DR is STILL on; why can't you listen to him?

I feel sorry for Dave Ross. He is the last bastion of common sense left on the station. I quit listening for three reasons; Dori has become a complete, self absorbed right wing lunatic/talking head for that bunch and one knows what he will say before he says it, which is boring as hell, The firing of Ron Reagan, who was truly interesting and BRIGHT and the fact that when I called regarding what happend to him I was told that a statement was imminent and they were too weak to actually make one, thinking we would all just forget AND the fact that the critical mass of the shows has gone over the top, with about 65% ads and mostly blithering content (not counting Dave). I hope the advertisers read all of these comments. Idiots, all of them, but particularly the "management", who are more interested in controlling the "take" on the news, then decent content. BYE BYE..

Bill

I really miss Ron Reagan. When you enlarged Dummy's time slot I figured that Ron would show up at another time segment. But not the case. I have read most of the listener's comments and all I can say is that I totally agree with them. Goodbye.

DennisR

Probably late on this one, but Dori is about the only one at KIRO who has any sense. Ron Reagan? Liberal ding-dong. Boring. Dave Ross? Another liberal. And he does not "dispense drive-by wisdom to the [unwashed] masses" - or whatever his little ditty is. Liberals have very little touch with reality, which is why I stopped listening to those guys long ago. Go Dori!
