~ Seattle readers: sorry for all the national stuff: this is the dead zone for dish in local radio. We're working on some big, big, stories, and expect big things (especially at KIRO) to start popping in September. As always, when it's slow, we've been doing anagrams for your pleasure. Can't decide which we like best for Dori Monson- (KIRO m-f, 1-4p): 'Dorm Onions,' 'Snood Minor, or 'Id Morons No!' Which one do you prefer?
~ The ex-wife hour: Goldy (KIRO Saturdays, Sundays, 7-10p) won't be going to YK- he'll be filling in for Frank Shiers (m-f, 9p-12a) this week.
Who's his guest Weds. at 9p? That would be his very own ex-wife Maureen "Mo" Judge who's running for Mercer Island City Council. Should be some great radio.
Us blabbing to the BlatherWorld about her erstwhile relationship with the notorious blogger/talk host won't hurt her- She's already been endorsed by Ron Sims, Darcy Burner, Sierra Club, and the entire 41st legislative delegation of both R's and D's. She doesn't need you, Goldy... never did.
~ Remember Bryan Styble? He's the peculiar 3-hours-a-week (Sunday, 10p-1a) KIRO talk host who thinks so much of himself. We share his desire that he be
on the air more, although for probably a different reason- he's such good copy for BlatherWatch. Bryan's got a new blog, with a new picture which features his new face growings. The blog's gotten 4 comments so far- but unfortunately, Bryan's deleted 3 of them. Should you drop by Bryan's site, drop him a line, and see how long it takes for him to delete your
ass. Word to the wise: don't say 'crap!'
~ Tiny silicone GOPenis? Digby quotes The Wimp Factor, the book "examines the strange phenomenon of anxious Republican masculinity and the way it's informing our politics by Stephen J. Doucat: By far the most compelling confirmation of the phallic meaning of the president's aircraft-carrier cakewalk was found
on the hot-selling ‘George W. Bush Top Gun action figure’… The studly twelve-inch flyboy not only comes with a helmet and visor, goggles and oxygen mask, but underneath his flight suit is a full ‘basket’ --- a genuine fake penis, apparently constructed with lifelike silicone.
~ Expect a shitblitz on right wing talk radio as the YearlyKos Netroots convention starts Thursday in Chicago and runs though the weekend. The Democratic presidential candidates (save Joe Biden) will be there, as will such ace-boom liberals as SEIU's Andy Stern, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Rahm Emanuel, and Chuck Schumer. O'Reilly has been riding DailyKos, as a "hate site;" trying to get Democrats on his show to denounce it. Stirring up Kos is really to boost ratings: Kos's traffic make Billo's TV ratings look like The Frank Shiers Show. Billo's sending a camera crew and his obnoxious producer to confront important Democrats; ask them piercing questions which he promises will be so truthy they will deflate the entire Far Left Secular Progressive Movement and send them lemming into the Chicago River in a mass suicide. because let's face it: rap music hurts children.
~
The Setter of Moral Standards says: "Never put your finger where you can't put your hand!"
~ Fresh from the fight (not yet won) to save Internet radio, Rep. Jay Inslee's porcelain ear for politics is big news today he introduces legislation to impeach Alberto Gonzales. Inslee, a former prosecutor, has lined up other former prosecutors as sponsors.
~ If he had a hammer... (he'd have to get it at Home Depot). After some well-placed customer complaints, Lowe's, the secular progressive home supplies store, announced last Friday: "The O'Reilly Factor does not meet Lowe's advertising guidelines, and the company's advertising will no longer appear during the program."
Dori Monson = Moron, Nods I
Lt. Bryan Suits = Stir Unstably

The Styble-head takes a lot of crap from people on this site, me included from time to time.
But one thing does come through when listening to him and chatting with him....the man truly loves the medium of radio.
So I gotta' ease up a little on him because he still has a passion for this biz that's sadly lacking in most people who profess to be 'broadcasters'.
Posted by: Bill | July 31, 2007 at 09:08 AM
Yep, have to agree Bill - the man is definitely 'radioactive' !

As an aside:
Do you suppose there's any substance and/or creditability to this? Could It Be??
If so, it will certainly be interesting to see how our candidates might react?

Styble seems to have improved somewhat. I'll say this for him- HE HAS A MORE PROFESSIONAL VOICE AND DELIVERY THAN EITHER SHIERS OR MONSON. Until KIRO REHIRES Prell or springs for a pro from back east, Styble would actually be better than Prell or Monson doing a 15 hour a week shift. Shiers with his provincial, nasal voice and delivery sounds like old Uncle Phelps at the crackerbarrel store. Monson- well, need i say anything about Monson to you at this point? I htink we all know what he is- a conceited little narcissist and prig who likes to drop the word (i don't believe it) from time to time that he was offered a syndicated radio job but turned down the big money to stay in his old hometown. As I MENTIONED BEFORE, what radio network makes hosts relocate with the level of technology we've had in the last 12 years? When was this job offered? 1975?
Posted by: Tommy008 | July 31, 2007 at 07:09 PM
better than Shiers or Monson, i meant to say
Posted by: Tommy008 | July 31, 2007 at 07:12 PM
T008 Yes, I tend to agree..I see worth in genuine passion for one's trade. Regardles of his content (at this point) Styble displays a real zeal for radio and for the position he's trying to obtain. KIRO could do (and has) done a lot worse. Folks (like some herein) who are trying to tear down his character would do well to examine their own passion for ANYthing - short of hate talk. You know when you really think about it, everyone's passion s/be appreciated unless it's directed in an illegal manner. Let Ye who is without sin cast the first stone w/be apt.
Stybe..I wish you the best; I'm sure there are MANY things in store for the KIRO group (as Bla'M has hinted) and you know what dude...I hope you are in their plans.
Posted by: Duffman | July 31, 2007 at 07:35 PM
I must say that Bryan Styble has much improved. He's a fine broadcaster who should be given a chance at KIRO at a showtime that he can get more exposure.
I think we have been pretty mean to Bryan on this blog, and I am sorry for that.
Posted by: Brian | August 01, 2007 at 03:21 AM
Well, that's why I mentioned Bryan Styble. Yeah, his 'use 10 words when 3 will do' style can drive me nuts sometimes....
But I really do admire his love for the radio business. Hey, the guy's beginning to grow on me, y'know?
Posted by: Bill | August 01, 2007 at 09:07 AM
They have an ointment for that, I believe.

more support of my accusations of S.P.D. beat officers being unpleasant, badgeheavy pricks harrasing noncriminals and letting criminals do their thing downtown- who could be surprised at Mondays shooting at 3rd and Pine at 4 in the afternoon who's spent any time sampling the manacing, thuglife atmosphere brewing down there this summer."The polce here aren't terribly friendly. The cops in New York you can ask them for directions or to pose for a picture with them- and they're polite"-Matt, a downtown office worker on Shiers for Dori today. Also from Matt-"A guy was recently beaten to a pulp by a group of thugs, on the hood of a cab, downtown recently, while a S.P.D. cop sat in a Starbuck's and watched. A citizen had to yell at him to come out. He finally came out and said "ok guys that's enough." Reports of brazen bums and degenerates stealing salds off of office workers lunch tables in Steinbrueck Park, and generally ruling the park. Folks we've obviously got a problem with our S.P.D. assholes, AND THEIR INCOMPETENT AND/OR INDIFFERENT response to crime and problems downtown. Girlykowski must go.

yet another reason to spend my money in Portland instead of Seattle.....
Posted by: sparky | August 01, 2007 at 02:55 PM
As long as you pay a 'compensating use tax' on the value of the materials when you bring them into Washington my dear!...and I'm sure you do that, don't you? :o)

Duff Stuff:

Well well well. Duffman hearts Herr Styblehead. Why am I not suprised?
Not only are they both incredibly boring (Styblehead with a 0.08 rating, & Duffman adding a net zero to BW content), they've both made incredibly wretched, ammoral & unfounded statements:
Nate exhibit-A:
Styble claims being a slave in U.S. better off than being free in Africa (and racially smears Anfernie Hardaway's Mom & 'Afrocentric names') - all this to "celebrate" Black History Month (sieg heil!)
Nate exhibit-B:
Duffman exhibits his Christ-like tendencies by smearing Cindy Sheehan - Comparing the loss of her son to "crying over spilt milk".
Birds of a feather, really.
Hey Duff - Do you actually agree with the vile that Styblehead emitted that night?
Posted by: mercifurious | August 01, 2007 at 04:42 PM
Full Disclosure:
Every deleted comment on Styblehead's new website is from me. BUT not one post exhibited any kind of Bry's most-hated "scatalogical language"
No, this time Bryan is showing his allergic reaction to another form of language: truth telling
Posted by: mercifurious | August 01, 2007 at 04:59 PM
merci, merci, merci whaaaatz up dude...don't you know 'I love you man' why do you antagonize me such. Of course I do not agree with Stybe on that...as I do not agree with my mother on certain things but come on man...this guy has a passion. Would you deny that passion a place on the radio spectrum at some time in a 24-hr period? How hard is that...it give you yet more ammunition to attack him. After all - he is your 'claim to fame'....WHATever!!!
Posted by: Duffman | August 01, 2007 at 07:16 PM
Hell no.

Oh Oh...prima facia evidence that sparky is not doing her fair share...please report to Wash State DOR Bla'M...:o)
Expect 'visitors' Sparks!

As we would expect, Faux Noise is reporting that "illegals" were working on the bridge that collapsed in Minneapolis, and that it is "too soon to tell" if terrorism was involved--this after local Homeland security officials and structural engineers have determined that no explosives were involved with the collapse.
Posted by: spark | August 01, 2007 at 07:41 PM
I bet illegals were working at Faux when their ratings began to slide, too.
Posted by: coiler | August 01, 2007 at 09:58 PM
Bingo! VG
Posted by: sparky | August 01, 2007 at 09:59 PM
The victims have not all been found yet, but this morning Bush found a way to blame the Dems in Congress for the disaster in Minneapolis. At the same time, he praised the efforts of the Republican Governor of Minnesota, who just vetoed a bill that would have provided money for the infrastructure needs of the state. They all have shit for brains. Bush, the pResident who has taken the most vacations of any prez, had the balls to stand there this morning and criticize Congress for leaving for the August recess, while Laura is upstairs packing their bags for his annual August brush clearing vacation. The man needs to be removed NOW.
