We were pretty excited when we heard that KPTK is bringing Stephanie Miller, Ed Schultz, The Young Turks, and Mike Malloy to Town Hall for a panel moderated by Thom Hartmann on Saturday, July 14th.
It's called Perfect Presidents or Perfect Politicians? and will discuss the 2008 presidential candidates, both Republicans and Democrats in one of those free-for-all Town Hall blabfests that leave you feelin' so glad you're a liberal.
Unfortunately, it sold out in short order, we got ours, but if you missed out, KPTK will web cast it live on their their Web site.
(Republicans don't have stuff like this, though occasionally they
get somebody like Orrin Hatch to come by, cluck like a hens, and pick
up some money. Afraid Fred Thompson might be a threat? never fear- and click here- he's a threat only to wakefulness).
Liberal meets have more, how you say... joie?
KPTK has disappointed us for years by not building a live and local Seattle radio community by hiring live and local progressive talk hosts. (With KIRO going slowly to the right, we need them now more than ever.) You'd think it'd be a no-brainer in such a liberal town, but apparently those kind of local decisions, are made by the suits at the monolithic CBS network.
But the station's local crew does a great job of bringing their syndicated stars en masse to Seattle in such forums as these on a regular basis. No other news talk station does such ambitious events.
Hey Bla'M...easy on posting those pics of Stephanie...Ummmm; there's just something 'bout that woman that transfixes me....ha
But alas, I'm probably too young for her ;o)
Get ready for the heat folks!

Great news. Should be interesting to hear what Mike Malloy does with Ed Shultz. Wait until Ed tries to take credit for "knowing" about stuff about which he is really totally ignorant, and Mike will shred him to pieces.

Finally!

...sorry; that was supposed to link to the '1st gay debate' article

It’s one of those situations where a single corporation has too many stations for its own good. CBS Seattle has 5 stations, and AM1090 gets the shit end of the stick as far as any spending/investment money. Resources are spread too thin for any local talent. Everyone knows local progressive talent is a no-brainer for that station’s next step. The suits seem to be more interested in occupying the frequency (like Jack) than building it into anything unique.

Why is Frank Shiers a talk radio host? It doesn't make any sense at all. The hosts are supposed to be like the friend you don't agree with, but he sounds just like the arrogant, asshole middle management boss you don't agree with. How could the fire Mike Webb or Allan Prell and not Shiers?! I feel hated by KIRO. They're telling me I've done something truely fucking horrible and this is my punishment.

I take it Malloy and Schultz will be sitting on the opposite sides of the stage. It's good Randi isn't on a panel discussion. She's more of a bull in a china shop in those situations, which is why you never see her on TV anymore except for solo spots on C-SPAN.

Randi and Ed do not get along....she came to seattle with a different collection of Air America people...actually Young Turks and Tom are the only Air Americans on the panel, and Tom actually syndicates himself...
Posted by: sparky | July 10, 2007 at 08:56 PM
Also, I saw Randi on a panel with Ron Reagan and somebody else???? (Steve Scher maybe) and she totally took over until the boys started making some eye contact and she picked up on it. It was kind of embarrassing but the audience was totally behind her. They loved her. She is so passionate and knowledgable. She is the show.
BTW, Mike Revelle as been on Malloy's show for an hour or so. Boy, can he talk!

"until the boys started making some eye contact"
Joanie, is this a reference that you think GayRea is Gay.

Grow up, ass-backwards. But anybody who signs his name "ass-backwards" might be sending out some covert signals about himself . . . doncha think? Just sayin' . . .
Posted by: joanie | July 10, 2007 at 10:01 PM
Then clarify Joanie
Posted by: nevets | July 10, 2007 at 10:15 PM
or should I say please clarify "Iraqi Rose".
Posted by: nevets | July 10, 2007 at 10:16 PM
Again with Thom Hartmann, can anyone help. When he signs off and says "Democracy starts with you, tag you're it". Doesn't it actually mean he started it since he is doin the tagging. Any help.
Posted by: nevets | July 10, 2007 at 10:19 PM
I would think that clarification is your responsibility since you are the one who prefers to sign ass-backwards . . . but then, I don't know much about gay behaviour. Do you?
Posted by: joanie | July 10, 2007 at 10:46 PM
I'll be there, too, Bla'M....let's meet during recess at the GLBTT bathroom!

"BTW, Mike Revelle as been on Malloy's show for an hour or so. Boy, can he talk!" Joans, I think yoiu meant Mike Gravel. Randy Revelle was King Co. Executive from 1981-85.
Duf, hace frio aqui...está nevando en mi casa.
Posted by: Fremont | July 12, 2007 at 03:48 PM
You're right, Fremont. Gracias. Esta nevando? Donde esta?
Posted by: joanie | July 12, 2007 at 06:19 PM
Joanie, why mention that "the boys started making some eye contact" like it was a clue for Randi to leave them two alone.
Posted by: nevets | July 12, 2007 at 09:07 PM
Typical Steve...ignore the substance of debate on any issue and descend immediately into gay-bating comments and "Iraqi Rose" insults.
You must really be lacking if that is the best you can represent your ideas and ideals with. Again, since over 70% of Americans seem to agree with those you slam in this way, then I ask again: Why do you hate America?
Posted by: cowpotpi3 | July 12, 2007 at 09:28 PM
Gotta watch out for those 'ass-umptions" ass-backwards. You see to have an unusually high interest is gay behavior. Por que?
