« HAPPY MISSION ACCOMPLISHED DAY! | Main | Problem for Talk Radio No. 271 »

May 01, 2007

Again, Blabberin' Mike, you've got it wrong because you have never worked inside a radio station, much less the station that you like to flame so much.

I don't see KIRO getting rid of David because despite what this Gardner blogger says, David is a very nice guy; he has taken coaching and direction very well from a number of people inside KIRO (and most of it from the person you accuse of being so bad, Frank Shiers! So, if Shiers has made Goldy what he is today, then, by your way of thinking, he should really be bad.) But, no, you say he's "done pretty well, considering." I agree but only because David knows that he's been given an opportunity and he should make the most of it--and he's been rewarded with hosting a show on both Saturday and Sunday. And, despite what Gardner spews out, David is a nice guy. He's someone you can disagree with and have a beer with as well. And this isn't because of Frank Sheir's demise on the weekend--it's because he's GOT the 9 PM to 1 AM slot Monday-Friday. If you look on the KIRO website, the program schedule no longer says "9 PM - 1 AM Show"; (i.e. "we haven't decided on anyone yet" Tom Clendening/Entercom-speak). It says "The Frank Shiers Show." And Shiers was made full time by Bonneville for his hard work so you can stop your campaigning to get rid of him, because he's got nights wrapped up. And, Goldy will continue doing his show as long as he understands the need for prep, to keep learning and honing his new craft.

Bonneville understands that it cannot operate under a theocracy; selling ads and making a profit are more desirable than lawsuits.

blathering michael

As always you've put words in my mouth. I've never said Bonneville wants a theocracy, and have never seen any evidence that they, unlike say Salem, would insinuate their faith into programming. I've given B'ville the benefit of the doubt because they haven't really changed anything that's apparent to listeners. I'm sure they will and I'll judge those things one by one because I've appointed myself critic and put all this money in expensive blogware, so fuck you.
I don't know how you've extrapolated all this stuff about Shiers ruining Goldy or whatever it is you're trying to say, but you seem to read only what you want to hear.
Although Frank and I are really getting along, now; I've always preferred he spin the platters than make the chatters, if you know what I mean.
I'm not sure he is on permanently, there's been no official announcement. But I think I can handle it if he did get the job. I have no reason to believe you, though- you hide behind the anonymity I graciously allow here to say anything you like and are never accountable to anyone. So you make snide hits using a different name each time, then scurry away like a little rodent. Too bad, if you weren't such a chickenshit, maybe I could come along when you have a beer and disagree with Goldy. I'd love to meet him.

THE HEADLINE ON BLABBERTOWN RADIO BLOG READ- I Cover The Waterfront- Montrose Arrested for Brandishing Handgun at "Claw-handed" Homeless Man. Montrose, sitting in his bathrobe in his huge Eastside home, at a few minutes past noon, a time when he should have been on the air down at KROW, scrolled down to the Deeter Skorpios story below the headline and read-" Your friendly blogmaster, yours truly, happened to be taking his usual Sunday afternoon waterfront stroll yesterday, when I happened on an incredible scene. KROW talkhost Dillard Montrose was standing in front of his dog and two daughters, at the tail end of the Argosy Cruise ticket line, waving a handgun at a homeless man, who was in turn waving his deformed , clawlike hands at Montrose and apparently taking issue with the talkjock over something he'd said. As luck would have it, two Seattle beat cops hurriedly marched into the plaza and arrested Montrose on the spot. Several eyewitnesses told the police officers that the homeless man was not posing a threat to Montrose. "He was deformed but not dangerous!", Esther Rabinowitz, a tourist from Brooklyn Heights, Brooklyn, kept repeating over and over to the cops".....

Whenever I've got you by the short hairs, Mike, you always have to resort to profanity.

Does it matter who I am? But rest assured that I know what I am talking about.

" don't know how you've extrapolated all this stuff about Shiers ruining Goldy or whatever it is you're trying to say"

What I'm saying is that on one hand you always knocking Frank Shiers, but on the other, you say that David has "done pretty well." The reason that David has done so well is that he received a literal crash course in talk radio from Mr. Shiers among others inside KIRO. Fortunately, Goldy has the gift of gab; now he just needs to keep working on this craft--which is a life-long process.

My comment regarding Bonneville and theocracy was a retort to the conservative blogger you quoted. Yes, B'ville may have been that way some time ago, but it's not that way now---so I wasn't putting words into your mouth.

"I'm not sure he is on permanently, there's been no official announcement. But I think I can handle it if he did get the job"

After 8 months of working that shift and having it go from the "9 to 1" show on the website to "The Frank Shiers Show" and his status upped to FTE is a clear sign it's official.

"I have no reason to believe you, though- you hide behind the anonymity I graciously allow here to say anything you like and are never accountable to anyone"

Yeah, yeah, blah, blah. I am only accountable to myself. I know of what I speak and I don't care if you believe me or not. And anonymity is a big part of the Internet, so get used to it.

"Too bad, if you weren't such a chickenshit, maybe I could come along when you have a beer and disagree with Goldy. I'd love to meet him."

I believe he makes a regular appearance at "Drinking Liberally" in Wallingford (I think). I've often told him that I'd like to stop by. In fact, if it's not on a weeknight, both Shiers and I will make an appearance together and see if YOU show up.

Let's just say I'm in the know and you're in the no.

blathering michael

I'm usually at DL- I was there tonight. (it's in Montlake). it's always on Tuesdays, so probably Frank couldn't attend. You're so accountable, in the know, and speak up so bravely and forthrightly in anonymity - would you be the same face to face? I'm anxious to meet you, if you'd leave my shorthairs alone. (still think you're chicken).

Children ..

Time out.

Michael does a great job here. Goldy has an impressive innate talent. As for Goldy being anti-establishment ... giggle, hee hee.

If Goldy is ANTI-establishment, O'Reilly must be correct that the NY Times is a far lest screed and George Soros is the illegitimate grandson of a gay liaison between Svetlana Stalin and her Dad.

Goldy is as moderate as they come. Unfortunately we live in a world where the right gets away with claiming that moderates are extremists.

Up with the middle!

Hey Blam why don't you consider doing a talk show? If you have the gift of gab near your writing ability you'd do just fine!

I miss duffman, he used to get things really smokin around here, and had a great sense of humor.

Goldy is on weekends and at night. The radio industry does not even bother to do ratings during those time periods because there are no listeners. If Goldy got fired no one would even know he was gone.

Nothing wrong with Goldy's show - I make an effort to listen if schduling allows, or simply pod it. One day I will make it down to Drinking Liberally and meet the guy personally- maybe even B'lam too.
